Drayton Florence Released
BuffaloRebound replied to Mike In Illinois's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why would Bills cut him now? Guys get hurt all the time in OTA's and training camp. Must have been money related. Maybe freeing up some money for a Vince Young signing or a Fred extension. -
Even if you think Fitz is legit, QB is the weakest position on the team right now. Gailey needs more talent to work with there. If Young is ready to work hard and pay his dues, sign him up. Actually somewhat excited about this. No one is giving Young a starting job or even chance to compete for one, and he's still young enough to re-gain his old form. Can't see the Bills wasting their time with bringing him in and the attention that comes with it unless they were serious about signing him.

SO glad Shanahan said no to Ralph...
BuffaloRebound replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How can you not feel bad for Cousins? No matter how well he plays in camp and pre-season games or how bad Griffin plays, he has no shot of playing the next 2+years unless Griffin gets hurt. The guy has no shot to compete for playing time and it's not even like he's learning behind an experienced, bonafide NFL QB. Shanahan basically ruined a kid's career with his own arrogance/stupidity. -
Interesting how Nix said that Glenn was a consideration at #10 if the draft fell a certain way. Made it seem like we had Gilmore rated very highly and were happy he fell to #10. Also, Hill and Jeffrey were the WR's that went right after our pick, so I assume we had high grades on those guys too.

RD 3, Pick #69: WR TJ Graham - NC State
BuffaloRebound replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I actually thought his highlights were impressive. He got by his man routinely. Saw 3 pass interence penalties in 3 games where his man had to grab him or he wouldve had a TD. His 85 yard TD against Cincy was Victor Cruz-like against the Jets. He didn't look that strong but also didn't shy away from contact either. Also not as small as I thought he'd be. If he gains a little strength, guy could be a dynamic receiver. -
So who is Buddy talking about at QB?
BuffaloRebound replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If things aligned perfectly, my guess is buddy's preference would've been Barron, Glenn, Randle, and Cousins with our first 4 picks. -
Based on need, gotta hope that Fleener, Jenkins, Worthy, Upshaw, Still, Curry, Branch, and the highly rated Guards and Center come off board before our pick. I'd be happy with Glenn or David at #41.
-
I agree with this, but the teams in front of us know they can probably get a good WR in the 3rd round too. Might mean a run on OT's before our pick.

what our draft board probably really looked like
BuffaloRebound replied to TheBackupQB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Short of Kalil, Claiborne, or Blackmon dropping to 10, Gilmore dropping was probably best scenario for Bills. Bills probably take Gilmore over Kuechly, Tannehill, and maybe even Barron. Judging by how the rest of the draft went, Floyd was probably the only other consideration at #10. Also looks like Bills won't have to reach for an OT or WR at #41. -
Wow, moving up a single slot costs Cleveland
BuffaloRebound replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Going for #4 to #3 under old trade chart was worth 400 points. Cleveland only gave up the equivalent of 100 points. -
1. Griffin 2. Luck 3. Richardson 4. Kalil 5. Claiborne 6. Blackmon 7. Cox 8. Barron 9. Gilmore 10. Kuechly

Sources: Bills looking to trade up
BuffaloRebound replied to billsfan714's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good analysis. None of these rumors are that much of a stretch. They're all pretty believable and could all be true. -
I think Bills truly like Barron and would take him at #10, but prefer trading down and are telling Cowboys and Eagles that Barron isn't gonna be there for them at #14 or #15 unless they trade up.
-
No. That's too much to move up 3 spots where supposedly everyone after the Indy and Washington is trying to trade down. I do it for a 3rd rounder.
-
He states that he's not trying to be right, just going by his evaluation of players(not taking into account off-the-field issues) and team needs. I like getting a different opinion than all the regurgitated stuff out there.

[closed]Greg Cosell's mock draft
BuffaloRebound replied to BEAST MODE BABY!'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Love getting original opinions on these guys from people who actually watch hours of film. Interesting he's that high on Gilmore. Comment on WR being more important than LT for Bills also very interesting. -
Here's a better one done by someone who actually studies all the players game film. My link

That's also the reason we're seeing these prolific passing numbers. NFL defenses haven't caught up with the offenses spreading them all over the field. Still have LB's trying to run with Tight Ends and WR's. Barron is a Safety/LB hybrid that is a playmaker against the pass and also stout against the run. Keuchly is good in coverage but I'd rather have a guy like Barron who is a difference maker against the pass.
-
In the new age, pass-happy NFL, strong safeties that can hit and cover are the new tackling machines/Zach Thomas's. Kuechly is a good player and wouldn't be upset if we got him, but I'd rather have a guy like Barron. Barron would be an upgrade over Bryan Scott, who was on the field a lot. Wilson isn't getting any younger either.

Throw out the trade value chart
BuffaloRebound replied to section122's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If this factors into a team's decision-making process, the front office should be fired. The bust factor has to be 30-40% for 1st rounders in general, probably more for QB's. On top of that, most franchises would extend a good QB long before the final year of his rookie deal. So there's probably a less than 25% chance a QB would be playing out the final year of his rookie deal. You're talking about a 25% chance at paying $6m more five years from now. For other positions, it will be a lot less than $6m, but the probability is probably higher that a non-QB would play out the 5th year of his rookie deal, but still not greater than 50%. -
Size-wise, Kalil is very similar to Pears at the end of the 2010 season. Nix wanted him tp put on 20 pounds, and I'm sure he'd ask the same of Kalil. That said, a top 3 guy should be ready to go today. Can understand why some scouts/experts are luke-warm on Kalil. Also, Schefter was the 1st to call Von Miller to Denver when everyone had Dareus pegged to Denver. If Shefter is saying Vikings aren't taking Kalil, I believe him.

BuffaloRebound replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This has to be the dumbest thing I've read yet in regards to to the draft. Leave it to a Belichik disciple to over-analyze. If Tannehill is a franchise QB, you extend him before the 5th year anyway. If he's not, you'll know long before the 5th year. If it's not a QB, you're not even talking about a $1m difference in year 5.
