  1. Just watched his Rutgers/ND bowl game tape. Martin was impressive. Great run blocker. Consistently pushed his man 3-5 years down the field. Seems like a safe pick at #9. If he does struggle at Tackle, he'll be an All-Pro guard. We could do worse, but would prefer to trade down if he's our best option at #9.
  2. I'd assume NFL pays for all the players' and their families' travel expenses including some kind of clothing stipend. It's the least they can do when you consider how much money NFL makes off the draft.
  3. 1. Clowney 2. Manziel 3. Watkins 4. Robinson 5. Evans 6. Mack 7. Matthews 8. Carr 9. Bortles 10. Donald
  4. 1. Clowney (for Bortles, Spiller, and next year's 2nd rounder) 2. Hyde 3. OT 4. WR
  5. I think 2-2-2-2 is the worst case scenario. Can't see Bills taking Lewan who seems strictly an LT. If Bortles or Manziel are available at #9 and Bills still have pick, I'd hope Bills have standing trade with Houston or someone else. If the top 6 plus Manziel and Bortles are gone, don't see anyone available at #9 that teams would trade up for.
  6. I'd be happy with any of the top 6 guys. Wouldn't trade up for anyone other than Clowney or Watkins. If top 6 are gone by pick #9 and Bills didn't trade up, I'd prefer a trade down. With all these trade-up rumors and Bills doing nothing to squash them, you're gonna have one disappointed fanbase come Thursday night if Bills stay put and take Ebron, Lewan or Zack Martin. I think a guy like Beckham Jr. can have just as much impact as Ebron, Lewan, or Martin and can be had later in the 1st round.
  7. I think we are taking an OT in the 2nd round. Kouandjio, Morgan Moses, Juwuan James, or Richardson... one of them will be available and an immediate upgrade at RT. Bills can go so many different ways in the 1st round.
  8. If we had more guys with Jackson's heart, we'd have made the playoffs. The guy does enough things like blitz pickup and short yardage where he can be your #3 RB for the next 2-3 years. Referring to Jackson as a misfit toy is beyond stupid.
  9. I think you'd have to build a passenger train to Niagara Falls which is over-due anyway.
  10. Freddy should be a Bill as long as he still wants to play.
  11. If we do actually trade up into the top 4, I think it involves Stevie or Spiller. Bortles/Manziel, Spiller, and next year's 2nd for Clowney (this trade would be consummated after Houston selects Clowney and we select one of the QB's - can't see Houston trading with us unless they know they can get Manziel or Bortles). #9, Stevie, and a 3rd for Cleveland's #4. Getting up to #5, 6, or 7 will probably not cost more than a 3rd rounder. If I were Whaley, this years 2nd rounder and next years 1st rounder would be off limits. Everything else including Stevie and Spiller would be fair game.
  12. I think Spiller plus our 1st this year and 2nd next year to Houston is more plausible than the Cleveland trade. Wouldn't be surprised if Stevie is traded on draft day, but think Spiller is more likely to be traded. Houston has a lot of pieces already. Spiller and Fitzpatrick would be an upgrade over last year and give them a chance to compete for a playoff spot while Bortles sits for a year.
  13. I can believe Stevie will get traded, but I think if we make this trade it's for Robinson and not Watkins. I think Stevie is worth a 3rd rounder. 3 years and $16m left on his contract for a good #2 WR. So Bills would be trading a 2nd rounder and 3rd rounder to move up 5 spots. That's a lot.
  14. Spiller or Stevie will be traded during the draft.
  15. I'm not. Not crazy to think Mayock, Kiper, Brandt, and other draft experts know more than you and me if for no other reason than who they talk to and interact with on a daily basis.
  16. Us drafting EJ at #16 would be close to the equivalent of Browns taking Carr at #4. Carr is almost universally thought of as a 1st round talent in a very deep draft. EJ was not viewed as a consensus 1st round pick. There was very little risk Manuel was gonna get picked before pick #16. Jets were only team we had to worry about. If Cleveland trades down from #4, decent chance one of Oakland or Minnesota takes him.
  17. I think Carr's gonna be really good. Good chance that we're gonna wish we had a shot at Manziel, Bortles, and Carr come next year.
  18. Doubt the Browns would let anyone know this, but this is why I think it's BS that people think no QB's are going in the top 10. When you like a QB who generally has a 1st round grade, you don't get cute and hope he's there at the end of the 1st and beginning of the 2nd round. My guess is that Manziel and Bortles are gone by pick #9, with a good shot that Carr is too. I can understand the Texans taking Clowney, but it would be ridiculous for teams like Jax, Cleveland, Oakland, and even Tampa and Minnesota to pass on Manziel, Bortles, and Carr. Bridgewater is also an upgrade over any QB on their rosters.
  19. I think all the top 5 teams interested in a QB (Houston, Jax, Cleveland, Oakland) would prefer trading to bottom of the top 10 to take Manziel, Bortles, or Carr. If Bills want to trade up, there will be opportunities.
  20. Count me in the 'Mack is the true target' camp. Clowney talk is a nice smokescreen, but we aren't giving up next year's 1st rounder. If Mack makes it to Raiders pick, I think Bills trade up.
  21. This is why I'm not buying this. Could see Bills trading up for Clowney if it didn't include next year's 1st rounder but don't see how they'd get up to #1 otherwise. More likely that Whaley trying to lure someone like Atlanta to trade up to #1 with Houston taking a QB at #6, pushing one of the top non-QB's closer to #9.
  22. Highly touted? Manuel wasn't even considered the best QB in a horrible QB draft class. Charlie Casserly, former Redskins and Texans GM, said he would rank Manuel 8th best QB in this draft class. Former Bears GM and long-time scout Greg Gabriel ranks Carr as his #1 QB in this draft. Do you think anyone would give Bills a 1st round draft pick for Manuel? I think we'd be lucky to get a 3rd for our highly touted player who can't stay on the field.
  23. Excellent post, but not sure why we shouldn't consider QB in 1st. Stuff rarely happens the way you plan it will in NFL. If EJ is smart enough to step out of bounds in Cleveland game, maybe we win that game, EJ shows more promise, and we finish with .500 or better record or maybe even make playoffs. But he didn't and we are almost back to Square 1 at QB position. If Carr is available at #9, pull the trigger. Get a 3rd rounder for EJ and move on instead of most likely wasting another year. Carr is a much better prospect than Manuel. Not even close who the better passer is.
  24. Super high on Carr. Wouldn't have any problem with Carr at #9. Trade EJ for 2nd or 3rd rounder. Have a feeling we will be kicking ourselves next year that we passed on Carr and are stuck looking at prospects of drafting an inferior QB next year after EJ struggles again. There's no cookie cutter template for getting your franchise QB. Gotta grab opportunity when it presents itself.
  25. Admittedly didn't see him play that much, but did see the UNC game. Multiple occasions they blitzed him up the middle and his feet looked like they were stuck in concrete and he curled up in the fetal position. Flashbacks to Bledsoe.
