  1. Even though this rumor is nonsense, the presence of a free agent Cousins is a game changer. Maybe Garropolo is asking for $30m per year and SF is balking. Meanwhile they could get a guy with a longer track record for that, and get at least a 1st rounder for Garropolo. Garropolo's contract situation will be fascinating to follow. SF basically holds all the cards until Cousins is no longer an option.
  2. It's not absurd that Cousins ends up in SF, and then Garropolo ends up somewhere else, but it won't be a 3 team trade. If somebody offers SF a bunch of picks for Garoppolo and Shanahan likes Cousins just as much and can get him for nothing, then it's possible they deal Garoppolo. Redskins won't be getting anything.
  3. Or maybe somebody in Giants Front Office is checking what the Patriots Front Office is doing. Is the Patriots Front Office enough for you?
  4. How old was the MVP this year who also had an epic performance in the Super Bowl? Brady and Brees are playing at a championship level right now and are both older than Eli. Pats traded away a younger franchise QB.
  5. I think the Giants will absolutely demand a #1 pick next year to justify passing on a QB this year.
  6. Playing well into their 40's means what Brady and Brees are doing right now. Manning is younger than both of them. Will those guys fall off a cliff? Maybe, but they are still championship level QB's and I think Giants would be foolish to put a premature end date on Eli's career which is what they'd be doing drafting a QB at #2 overall.
  7. So you prematurely close the door on a 37 year old QB you've won 2 Super Bowls with when other QB's are playing well into their 40's? Brady is 4 years older and Pats let Garoppolo walk. Smart move for Giants is to build around Eli and acquire a 1st next year as insurance.
  8. Unless Eli is telling them he's gonna retire next year, why would Giants voluntarily move on from a QB who's won 2 Super Bowls and has at least another 4 good years left?
  9. I don't see the Giants taking a QB at #2. Brady is still playing at a high level into his 40's. Same with Brees. Eli's got at least another 4 years if you're using those 2 guys as an example. I think Rosen/Darnold could be had in a trade up with Giants. If Cousins goes to Denver, that leaves Jets as other serious trade up partner. No way Giants make that kind of trade with Jets. Would you trade Shady if he was the trade deal-breaker for Giants?
  10. Belichik and Krafts word that he'll be coach are worthless. Belichik will coach until he wants to just like Parcells. McDaniels most likely got cold feet about Colts organization.
  11. I'd love to get Foles, but does concern me a little bit that he was contemplating retirement after one bad year in St Louis. Does he want to be a great QB? Is he still gonna be hungry after winning Super Bowl?
  12. Ertz took 3 steps after the catch and then jumped for the goal line. Wasn't even close. Collinsworth sounded like a fool. You can't over-turn Clementine's TD in the super bowl. It was not obvious. If it was incomplete on field, then that call should've stood as well. NFL for both calls right. In general I like Collinsworth but he lost a lot of credibility tonight.
  13. How many times did Pats punt? Brady had all day to throw. Schwartz is the goat of the game if not for Foles.
  14. Because Eagles are all in on Wentz. They almost have to trade Foles to avoid distraction if Wentz hits any rough patches.
  15. I'd give up a 2nd rounder for Foles in a heartbeat.
  16. No, because it's nonsense and NFL would never allow it since it skirts their tampering rules.
  17. What does this mean? So we could've allowed Gilmore or any other Free Agent we weren't going to sign to illegally negotiate with another team in February before the NFL allows free agents to talk to other teams and got compensation for it?
  18. It's a completely hollow threat.
  19. This makes no sense. So any player who is a free agent come March can be traded by the team they played for last year before March? It defeats the purpose of free agency. Unless it is some kind of quirk with players who played under the franchise tag.
  20. What I learned.... The Redskins are a bad organization. Smith is not an upgrade over Cousins. At best, it's a lateral move. Cousins is gonna get a lot of money
  21. Reid wins wherever he goes at least in the regular season. I'd be hugely surprised if Smith has anywhere near the same success in Washington.
  22. But I thought a lot of people got their feelings hurt by players kneeling for the anthem and tuned out? Ratings are down across the board for all TV programming. There goes that meme.
  23. Cousins will have a bunch of teams willing to pay him close to $30m per year and says he cares about winning. Highly doubt he goes to the Jets where Bowles is a dead coach walking. I know we all love to trash the Bills, but Cousins won't have a lot if any choices where the Coach and GM situation is as stable as Buffalo's. Ending the 17 year drought bought McBeane at least 3-4 years. Cleveland is a horrible situation but on top of that Hue Jackson has close to a 95% probability of getting fired after this season. And as much as Denver could be the best situation for Cousins, their head coach is definitely on the hot seat.
  24. Writing is on the wall. Washington is moving on from Cousins. They wouldn't commit to a long term contract and are now stuck with letting him walk after paying him $50 million the past 2 years. They're not giving him $33m for another year when he's 100% walking the following year. Their former GM is already putting out the cover that Cousins isn't special as a CYA when he walks for free because of their front office's bad judgement.
