He got beat out by a 6th rounder last year, and has been effectively out for 4 months with a sprained ankle that he’s calling a torn ligament and kinda suggesting the team made him try to play through it. Say what you want about McBeane, but they’ve always been very conservative with player injuries. Major red flags around Elam.
-
Benford has consistently been ahead of Elam since they were drafted. And Bernard got his opportunity and ran with it. Plus as a 3rd rounder he’s basically a vet minimum guy instead of a $3-4m cap hit per year that Elam as a 1st rounder is. Bills had to spend a 3rd rounder on Douglas to shore up the CB position and now Elam’s offering up excuses to the media that border on throwing his employer under the bus. Most signs point to this guy being a bust. Better to trade him for a 4th or 5th rounder and use that $3m elsewhere.
-
Because Bills clearly didn’t trust in him before the injury and now a sprained ankle effectively cost him a whole season. Cutting him costs $8m in dead money. Trading him for anything saves $5m in cap over next 2 years. Give that money to Jackson or a safety. The trade for Douglas sealed his fate. He ain’t beating out Douglas or Benford next year.

That Buffalo News article is so vague. I read it a couple times. Did he get an MRI after the preseason game he said he injured it in? I mean he was running behind Benford and Jackson in training camp so it’s not like the injury was the reason he was the #4 CB. I highly doubt the Bills would play a guy knowing he had a torn ligament in his ankle. More likely that Elam was already #4 on the depth chart, hid the injury, stunk so bad when he was called on to play with Tre injury then Benford injury, then got the MRI and Bills shut him down.

Gunner? Neal has been horrible all year -
I’ll buy Gabe Davis. Due for his once every 4 games good game.

It’s strictly math and probability. Kinda like the ‘let’s make a deal’ Monty Hall dilemma. You always switch from your first guess when they take one of the 3 doors away. It’s 50% probability after they take a door away vs 33% on your first guess even though it seems counter-intuitive. It’s 59% win rate going for 2 on the first attempt down 14 vs 41% kicking the extra point on first TD down 14. -

Tua over-did the whole ‘get bigger to avoid injury thing’. Never a good athlete. Now he’s even slower. If he doesn’t get rid of the ball as soon as he hits his drop-back, he’s terrible. -

In addition to coaching great down the stretch, he completely got the ref to wind the clock on 4th down. -

Why are defensive coordinators so stupid at the end of games? You don’t give scrub QB’s 5-7 yard throws to start a drive and let them get comfortable. -

Hopkins and Diggs together not a good combo at this point in their careers. Can’t have 2 guys who give up on their routes. We need a young twitched up hungry WR next to Diggs. -

Tua becoming the hefty lefty. Dudes gotta pushing 260lbs at 6 feet. -
gabe is the opposite of quick twitch. that was such a poor effort of recovering the ball. He’s basically an extra blocker running routes at this point.
-
Diggs plays with little to no physicality. His game is entirely about separation and good hands. His days as an elite WR are numbered if not already over. We need to bring in a twitchy athlete at WR next year. Kincaid is probably a better athlete than all our WR’s. He’s only pass catcher we have with a big catch radius. The rest of them do not make contested catches.

Honestly, kudos to the sideline ref for calling that. Especially being on the Chiefs sideline. Even though Toney was a good half yard Offside, it took guts to throw the flag there. We all call out the refs when they suck, dude made right call probably knowing he was gonna get chewed out.

Toney saved us from another Billsy moment…

We won but if we lost, we’d all be going nuts at Benford, Rapp, and Cam Lewis. They basically let Kelce get 10 yards open then let him run around for another 2-3 seconds. Really tentative defense there. -
The blue line view falsely made it look like his foot was barely Offside. That wasn’t the correct line for the offense being Offside. He was easily a foot to a foot and a half Offside. Blatant.
-
That blue line is for the defense in the neutral zone. The blue line for the offense would be on the other side of the football where the centers head is. There’s basically a foot/foot-and-a-half no man’s land where the ball is. Toney was at least a full foot Offside. The side ref that threw the flag couldn’t even see the ball because toney was so Offside.
