  1. Physically, Josh Freeman was comparable but not as tough and Boller is the only guy you mentioned who comes close to Allen's arm strength but Allen has better touch than Boller did.
  2. Allen may end up being a bust just like any of the other top QB prospects could, but the guys you mentioned couldn't hold a candle to Allen as a draft prospect.
  3. The 60% completion percentage thing is beyond stupid. The difference between Allen's completion percentage and 60% is one drop per game. I counted at least 4 in the Iowa game that were clear drops. One of his Receivers had a TD bounce off his chest. When you have an elite arm and play with WR's who are low D-1 caliber, you're gonna have drops.
  4. I'm not seeing accuracy issues. Most of his throws were tight window throws right on the money against Iowa in a game where if you just look at his completion percentage, you'd think he struggled with accuracy and was throwing the ball all over the place.
  5. http://draftbreakdown.com/2017/09/08/josh-allen-vs-iowa-2017/ Allen had bad stats in this game, but I don't see the accuracy issues everyone is talking about. From what some people on this board have said about him, I'm surprised how good Allen looked against Iowa when his team was clearly over-matched. The majority of his throws were on the money and there's probably only 2-3 QB's currently in the NFL who could make some of those throws. I don't trust Rosen. He could be really good but I'd be happy with Allen at 2. He's a guy you take a chance on. His floor is probably lower than Rosen, but that's what you have McCarron for. Allen has the potential to be the best QB in the game.
  6. If the Giants want something comparable to what the Jets paid, they should've made a trade with the Jets. I'm not giving up more than 12, 22, 53, and 65. If Darnold is available at 2, then maybe I throw in something else.
  7. Dansby's made $67m in his career. I'd hope he's set financially for a few lifetimes. Guy must love football to not be walking away after 14 years to play for $1m. Sign him up.
  8. If we hadn't made the playoffs last year, can't imagine the pressure that would've been placed on one of these rookie QB's to end an 18 year playoff drought.
  9. Supply and demand. A QB who falls to pick 10 is not in high demand. You also had Watson still available at pick 10 so you still had some supply. It's why Cleveland probably got the better deal at 12, since only one of them was left.
  10. Certainty helps the Giants too. If there's 2 or 3 teams with different deals on table, it makes it harder for Giants to have a completely well thought out plan for what they're gonna do with the picks they get. Do the deal now and Giants have 5 weeks to prepare for who exactly they want to pick with all those picks. Yes, you can have contingency plans for different scenarios but there's still value in knowing exactly what your picks are gonna be 5 weeks out instead of 1 day.
  11. If I'm the Giants, I insist on next years 1st if I'm passing on a QB this year. 12, 22, and next years 1st should get it done, unless Jets are so desperate they'd give up next years 1st to move up a spot.
  12. I don't think we'll have to pay a giant premium to trade up to #2. It's in the Giants interest as well to not let the Jets get the 2nd best QB.
  13. If next years 1st rounder is included, all I'm giving is the three 1st rounders and keeping the other picks. Next years 1st rounder could easily be a top 5 pick with a rookie and McCarron at QB. I'm sure Beane is smart enough to sell it that way. If we kept Tyrod, it'd be a different story.
  14. Maybe but you have to assume Jets are not completely out of their minds. Desperate, yes. Spending that kind of draft capital on a RB when McCown and Bridgewater are your QB's makes the Watkins trade-up look like a stroke of genius.
  15. Anybody who believes Jets gave up three 2nd rounders for a RB who might not be available at 3 is a fool.
  16. It's looking more and more that Jets are in complete desperation mode. They were all in on Cousins and he took less money from Vikings per the Peter King MMQB article. Giants at 2 basically blocks them from ensuring they get one of their top 2 choices at QB. Trading three 2nd rounders to move up to 3 was a panic move. It will take nothing less than next years 1st rounder to get higher than 3 as Giants will not be helping them out without a pound of flesh. Before McCagnan does that, Jets ownership would be wise to fire him.
  17. Very possible it's now worth less since a team going after a QB just traded a whole lot more draft capital than they received to a team whose not taking a QB. That means less trade capital searching for a QB trade-up.
  18. How would it set our team back years? You can argue that pick 12, 56, and 65 are completely house money. Pick 12 is basically Cordy Glenn plus s trade down that netted you a top 10 CB. Pick 56 is the ghost of Sammy who we wouldn't have resigned anyway. Pick 65 is Tyrod who was replaced with a cheaper AJ McCarron. Oh, and we ended a 17 year playoff drought last year all while getting the salary cap in good shape.
  19. It'll be interesting what point value the Giants want for 2. The Jets really have nothing left to give now except next years 1st rounder. Even if Jets give up this years and next years 3rd rounders, that barely gets you to 2600 points. Bills have more draft capital than Jets and more flexibility in how to get there for a team like Giants with a lot of needs. 12, 22, 53, and 65 - that's 4 starters for the Giants. Edwards/Smith/Vea at 12, Guice/Michel at 22, and then 2 more starters with our picks and 2 more with their high 2nd and 3rd rounders.
  20. I do actually believe Beane wasn't ready to get into the top 5 for one of these QB's, hence the Jets-Colts deal. Beane still has the 12 to 6 to 2 route when he is ready.
  21. But what's changing between now and the draft? The Jets weren't gonna pull their offer. Beane has the draft assets to outbid the Jets. If the only hangup was Indy not wanting to drop too far down, Beane could've got to pick 7 or 8 in the next few weeks. Only reason I can see for Colts to take Jets offer now is that Beane said he's never offering anything close to Jets offer.
  22. I didn't read all 44 pages so forgive me if this was already covered, but what was the motivation for the Colts to take the Jets deal now if Bills truly wanted the pick #3 as well? Beane could've got to pick 7 or 8 in the next 6 weeks before the draft if Indy's hang up was dropping down that far. The price only would've went up if you had 2 teams who wanted the pick.
  23. I don't think Rosen has a high floor. A lot of questions with Rosen starting with his ability to avoid the pass rush and concussions and ending with his love for the game and ability to lead an NFL huddle.
  24. I could be wrong, but I just don't see teams trading up and taking Rosen in the top 5. He's talented but there's way too many questions about him. In addition to the concussions and ability to avoid NFL pass rushes, it's not a good look when he has to spend all his time in interviews defending his love for the game. I've got no problem with players speaking their minds and having interests outside of football, but I just think GM's will roll the dice on Darnold and Allen first at the top of the draft. I also think Mayfield will be taken before Rosen.
  25. I don't see any path to the 2nd pick for the Bills. Giants will be able to shake the Jets down for a couple 3rd rounders like 49ers did last year with Trubisky. And Giants will still get Barkley at 3.
