Look at Tennessee last year with Tannehill. I bet Chicago wishes they had a better backup than Chase Daniel last year. You could argue that Josh is in same place as Mariota and Trubisky after their 2nd year. Hopefully Josh has a better year 3 than those two, but I’d rather have a guy like a Tannehill as a backup than a guy like Barkley or Chase Daniel.

Only higher priced vet I’d go after is Fournette, who’s only due $4m this year. If Jax wants more than a 4th, then I’d just draft one and sign a vet minimum guy.

Honestly, RB’s should get paid a bonus for every carry by the League’s performance based compensation. Most start deteriorating after their rookie contract from wear and tear. And for the few who get a big 2nd contract like Gurley, in addition to wear and tear, there’s less motivation to take the pounding. Is Gurley gonna run hard for $4m per year when he’s already made $45m? You might get a good year or 2 from Gordon. He hasn’t gotten his big contract yet. I’d rather try to trade for Fournette. I think he’ll have a huge year this year playing for his next contract and you only have to pay him $4m.

No position takes a greater physical pounding than RB. Gurley still motivated $45m later to lay his body on the line and fight for every yard?

He’s made $40m and the Rams have to pay him $7.5m this year. Now he wants to go to either Atlanta or Miami because it’s close to home. Anybody who signs him is probably getting an unmotivated damaged good.

His $5.5m base salary and 2021 roster bonus of $5m become fully guaranteed tomorrow. Whoever trades for him is taking on $18m in guarantees.

The Rams will have to attach their own draft picks to dump Gurley. Nobody outside of O’Brien is trading assets for Gurley’s contract. Trading instead of cutting Gurley saves Rams $7.5m in cap space. My guess is they cut him by tomorrow and eat the cap space. They don’t have a lot of draft picks and everybody’s gonna want at least a 3rd round pick to take on his contract.

I’d consider one of their 3rd’s to take him. You’re essentially buying a 3rd round pick with your cap space and gurley might be useful for a year or 2.

It’s an osweiler bad contract dump that the rams will have to add draft compensation to. If they don’t trade or cut him before tomorrow, I believe another $12m becomes guaranteed.

Could see him going to the Rams once they unload Gurley. Doesn’t have to change cities and Goff needs a good RB to be effective.

We already have a young promising RB on his rookie deal for the next 3 years. I think we’re in a spot where we can spend a 4th for a guy who could have a monster year even if it’s a 1 year rental. And that 1 year is only gonna cost 4 million.

Murphy would either be cut or traded saving $8m against them cap. Not saying it’s gonna happen, but there’s enough cap room there.

Why would he go back to Seattle on a 1 year deal? Whatever the reason, playing for them last year doesn’t look to have helped him land a lucrative long term deal. Not saying he should come to Buffalo, but he definitely shouldn’t go back to Seattle.

Some of these guys with the bigger question marks like Herbert and Love might get pushed down draft boards if GM’s and coaches can’t fly them in and spend the time they normally would getting comfortable with these QB prospects.
