  1. He wouldn’t be replacing Hyde or Poyer. He’d be replacing Neal and spelling Milano and possibly giving the safeties a breather. He’d probably be on the field more than Klein.
  2. If Taylor falls to 54 its a no brainer, but I’m ok with a guy like Chinn at 54. For those downplaying the need, we win the New England game and Houston game if we had somebody in the back 7 who was a physical tackler.
  3. RB’s selected in first 2 rounds in last 5 years: 2015 - Gurley 10, Gordon 15, Yeldon 36, Abdullah 54; 2016 - Zeke 4, D Henry 45; 2017 - Fournette 4, McCaffrey 8, Cook 41, Mixon 48; 2018 - Barkley 2, Penny 27, Michel 31, Chubb 35, Jones 38, Kerryon Johnson 43, Guice 59; 2019 - Jacobs 24, Sanders 53 Not sure what that list is tellling me other than even if you hit on a RB in the first 2 rounds, I’m not sure you even want them for the 2nd contract.
  4. I like Edwards Helaire too but for pick 54 it will be hard to pass over vertical threats like Aiyuk, Reagor, Mims, Shenault, Hamler, Higgins, even Kmet, and then the more dynamic RB’s like Swift, Taylor, and Dobbins. I think all 10 of those guys would have to be gone to consider Edwards Helaire at 54. Hard to imagine all 10 of those guys being off the board at pick 54.
  5. Agreed somewhat but you could say the same thing about deep threat receivers. Its more about the threat of it and the attention the defense has to pay to that threat. I like Singletary but more than anything we need a RB who can get the tough yards, so that our QB doesn’t have to. If that RB can also rip off big runs, even better.
  6. Agreed. There won’t be large public gatherings like games and concerts until there is a vaccine. But when there’s a vaccine, I can’t see people being ok not going back to normal because some people choose not to get the vaccine.
  7. We can’t keep everything shutdown for people who choose not to get the vaccine. Social Darwinism.
  8. Most cities only shutdown 3 weeks for the Spanish flu. There were also millions dying in Europe at the same time from the war, so death was almost commonplace. Not saying the orange man is right because all he cares about are his re-election chances, but it will be interesting to see how this all plays out. Entirely possible that football doesn’t happen this fall. Much easier to quarantine 10 basketball players and play in empty arenas than it is for football to do the same.
  9. I’ll be shocked if there’s not football. Dollar Dollar Bills Y’all. Might not be fans in the stands but TV money is too lucrative.
  10. I agree with this. Once RB’s lose that hunger, you replace them with someone hungrier. However if Dobbins or Taylor last until 54, you take them because they add a home run threat.
  11. I think it’s pretty safe to assume we’ll draft a RB in 2nd or 3rd round or sign a vet like Hyde or Miller if that falls through.
  12. Good for him. Not sure he meant it that way, but it’s a big F You to billionaire owners donating far less.
  13. I don’t think Mr Beane was lying about adding explosive playmakers to the offense. Went out and got Diggs. I think he adds another in the 2nd round... Mims, Hamler, Reagor, Claypool, Taylor, Dobbins, Akers.
  14. I like Josh but there’s clearly still questions about him. Not saying Newton should be brought in right now, but if he lingers on the market, is humbled, and in the right frame of mind, it’d be negligent for Beane not to kick the tires. If Josh struggles or gets injured, the season is effectively over.
  15. You’re probably right, but I think he’d be extremely motivated this year. I like Josh, but I think most people have to admit a healthy and motivated Cam is better than Josh. I agree that Newton is a headcase and not worth risking Josh’s development, but the offense we’re building for Josh would be perfect for Newton.
  16. You gotta ride with Josh, but it’s damn tempting thinking about how far this team could go with a healthy Newton. He’s only 31 and at his best was the QB we all hope Allen eventually develops into.
  17. Glad he’s not back with the Jets. He’s a good player.
  18. If he took a $700k pay cut as is now being reported, it would cost as much to cut him as to keep him per salary cap purposes. His now $1.1m salary is about $500k more than the vet minimum. He’d have a dead cap of $500k if they cut him.
  19. If Rivera wants no part of him in Washington, not a good sign for Cam. No demand for diva QB’s who are always hurt and haven’t played well in a couple years.
  20. Moving the Olympics to 2021 basically costs no money. There’s too much money on the line if the NFL cancels their season. Unless Corona virus rate of death never flattens out, there will be football this year. If it doesn’t flatten out here, then we’ll all be dead anyway.
  21. I’d go get Taylor if he lasts to pick 40. I’d give up my 2nd and 3rd for him. He’d be perfect for this offense. Big explosive back who racks up TD’s.
  22. it’s not a lot in the grand scheme of things, but nothing Beane does is random. He probably has a budget for the backfield and if he’s gonna bring in a vet, Dimarco was given the choice of a pay cut or getting cut.
  23. These type of pay cuts usually precede a free agent signing.
  24. Dolphins under. Anytime expectations are turned up even a little bit, Fitz runs out of Fitzmagic.
  25. I don’t see anybody available right now that is significantly better than Barkley, unless Cam wants to take $5m for a medical redshirt year where he can get healthy and maybe you turn to him at the end of the year if Josh struggles. Outside of that I’d look hard at taking a guy in the 4th or 5th round with more upside than Barkley. If Josh gets injured or struggles next year, we will all be pissed when Barkley is all we have to turn to.
