I don’t think Hurts is the answer for Philly. He’s got EJ Manuel deer-in-headlights-itis in the pocket. Maybe the Philly OL is that bad that you gotta put a guy back there that can move. Bad situation to be in. Wentz is a shell of the QB he was when he first came into the League. It’s not all on the team around him. There might be something physical but it just looks like his heart ain’t into it anymore. Sad to see. He looked like he was gonna be one of the games best for next 10-15 years.

We are getting to the line quickly which helps. Gone are the days when it’d take forever to get the playcall in and Josh would be rushing just to get the snap off. Now we consistently get lined up with 15 seconds left on play clock and Josh gets to survey the defense and use a hard count if he wants.

Singletary is a 5-7 touches guy. His speed/power ratio is at the bottom for NFL backs. He’s elusive and can catch, but we need a speed/power back that can get you 5 yards when the defense plays the pass and get you 1-2 yards in short yardage situations. Josh can’t play All World every game. Gotta be able to grind it out when defenses drop in coverage. I will be beyond pissed if Josh gets hurt because he has to be our short yardage back.

After Poyers interception, it was very telling that we didn’t even attempt to run it on 1st and goal from the 5. Seems like short yardage running is a problem for most NFL offenses and play callers have no faith that they can successfully run the ball in goal line and short yardage situations.

Singletary is not a good short yardage back. He’s little and goes down on first contact. Moss has more potential but they clearly didn’t trust him after the fumble. I’m not even sure why they list Taiwan Jones as a RB if the guy never gets in the game as a RB even in a situation like last night where Moss was benched.

We need a 220lb back who can bounce off a tackle and fall forward for an extra yard. Add a physical presence to the running game. Yeldon is capable of providing that but will he. He’s got 4 more games to earn another contract. If I’m McDermott, I bring Yeldon into my office and challenge him to run like a mad men these last 4 games. Give him the opportunity.

I’ve been hard on Edmunds rightly so. He deserves credit when he plays good. 49ers are a physical team and Edmunds rose to the challenge. Obviously Josh was All World but give Daboll credit for mixing in the run game. We were committed enough to it and gained just enough yards on the ground to keep the 49ers honest. We still need a bigger more physical RB but that’s for another day.

We looked good. Find a CB opposite White and a RB who can get a tough yard and we’re looking really good.
