  1. I’d have rather given Cincy a chance to lose by 30 to Alabama, Clemson, or Ohio State. Notre Dame getting rolled in the playoff is getting really boring.
  2. Milano is the type of guy the Patriots won with for 20 years. Always around the ball, makes plays. The real question is do you want Milano at $8m per year or Edmunds at $20m per year.
  3. It’s all hypothetical right now but the main thing is being afraid to even think about the type of contract he’s gonna demand at age 23 coming off probably his 3rd pro bowl. Bobby Wagner got $18m per year at age 29. Your talking $20m per year minimum for Edmunds. Doesn’t make enough game changing plays to command that money but he’ll get it from someone.
  4. It’ll never happen, but I’d trade Edmunds to somebody like Pete Carroll after next year. Given his age and pro bowls/pedigree, I’m guessing Edmunds is gonna be crazy expensive to re-sign. Get another relatively cheap year out of him next year, exercise his 5th year option then trade him before you gotta pay him Bobby Wagner money. Unless he learns how to catch a pass thrown right at him or how to anticipate and hit a hole in the next 2 years, he’s gonna command way more money than his actual play warrants.
  5. Bottom line is he’s not good. Teams can put up with the craziness if he’s performing. He never made the transition to a pocket QB. He still thought he was more power running back than QB. Josh would’ve suffered same fate but his transformation this year into a passing QB has been almost miraculous. Cam never thought he had to change. The MVP and super bowl appearance were fool’s gold.
  6. Actually thinks this helps Tua and Flores. No second guessing now.
  7. https://www.sportico.com/leagues/football/2020/nfl-home-field-advantage-1234617561/ Home field only matters this year if visiting team is traveling a long distance. Pittsburgh to Buffalo is not a long distance.
  8. 2nd seed vs 3rd seed is close to meaningless this year. If we play Saturday, that’s only 12 days between games New England game and 1st round. So there’s not really a rust argument either so no reason to play the starters.
  9. This is glossing over the last 20 years. If McDermott and Beane arrived in 2004 instead of 2017, there’s a 99% chance they’d both have been fired by year 6 after multiple wildcard playoff bids but no playoff wins. It’s what the Raiders, Broncos and Chargers have to look forward to for the next 15 years. Just a coincidence that those teams are looking a lot like the Bills, Jets, and Dolphins of the past 20 years.
  10. Easy to say. It’s not about sucking at football. It’s about being stuck in a division with generational talents like Brady and Mahomes. You have almost no chance of ever hosting a playoff game even if you do beat out the rest of the conference for those 2 wildcard spots.
  11. Because sometimes winning your 4 team division is a case of being the tallest midget. Or in the case of the Bills, Dolphins and Jets for 20 years, your competing for 2 wildcard spots against the rest of the conference while being saddled with 2 almost sure losses. Same thing is gonna happen to Raiders, chargers, and Broncos.
  12. No problems with a 9-7 wildcard or even a 7-9 wildcard. Always had big problem with 7-9 division winner of 4 team pod getting in playoffs and also hosting a playoff game.
  13. 8 divisions for 32 teams has always been stupid. It creates imbalances. Getting stuck in New England’s 4 team pod the past 20 years has severely disadvantaged the bills, Jets, and Dolphins. Going to 3 wildcard teams is a nice start to correcting this. Now, make the 4 team division winner finish .500 or better.
  14. There’s too many divisions. If a division winner is not .500 or better, then they should go to an extra wildcard team. If that happens to be the below .500 division winner, then so be it and at least they’re seeded properly.
  15. I thought Griese was very funny last night. “Well y’all wanted to see some Jarrett Stidham”😃😃😃😃
  16. No it won’t. Steelers are a 7 pt dog on Sunday. Then Steelers have to win again in the 1st round of playoffs. That’s a 15-20% probability of it even mattering. Even if that does happen, Pittsburgh is a 30 minute plane ride and the stadium will be at least 80% empty. And there are five 10-5 teams so we have no idea who we’ll playing in Round 1. Not worth the injury risk.
  17. Hopefully it’s just a sprain and he’s ok in 2 weeks. Doesn’t have to be 100% to help our offense. Defenses must gameplan for him.
  18. Milano is so disruptive in this defense. If the decision is between paying Milano or Edmunds, I’d pick Milano without thinking twice unless the injury thing is something chronic. I’m sure you’d get at least a 2nd rounder from somebody like Pete Carroll for Edmunds based on his measurables and Pro Bowls.
  19. Edmunds has zero playmaking ability or instincts. He’s a highly athletic robot out there. Not sure you can teach him how to anticipate or make a play on the ball. He should play lots of pickup hoops in the offseason. Not sure how else to teach a guy anticipation and ball skills.
  20. Using probabilities...as a 7 point underdog against Cleveland, Pittsburgh has around a 30% chance of winning next Sunday. And they’d probably be pick’em or worse at home against Colts, Ravens, or Browns and slight favorites against dolphins. So that’s about a 15% chance of Pittsburgh winning their next 2 games. Not worth the risk of injury for a 15% chance of having to make a 30 minute plane ride to play in an empty stadium.
  21. The 3 seed vs the 2 seed is not important enough to risk injury of any starter. Tonight’s game was the one we wanted. Avoiding KC in the 2nd round was the most important thing after wrapping up the division. Pittsburgh could easily lose their 1st round game. Regardless, Cleveland is favored by 7 points next week. Rest your core guys and get ready for the 1st round game. The 2 vs the 3 seed isnt important enough this year.
  22. Love me some Moss lately. Dude gets the tough yards. That’s all this offense needs. Get tough yards, move the chains, and avoid having to use Allen as our short yardage back.
