More interesting to me is how Tampa Bay almost silently put together a hell of a roster the past 6-7 years and wouldn’t even had a playoff appearance to show for it without Brady.

Let’s call it a front 6 since almost everybody plays with 5DB’s now. Looking at the 2020 salary cap, Tampa used $59m on its top 6 DL and LB’s (Barrett, JPP, David, Suh, White, Vea). Bills used $50m on their top 6 highest paid DL and LB’s (Addison, Murphy, Hughes, Butler, Jefferson, Klein).

It wasn’t just against the Chiefs that the defense looked bad. They almost cost us the game against the Colts by imploding on those two 4th quarter drives. Yes, they looked good against the Ravens but they run a gimmick offense.

I’m not saying we stink, but we are gonna take a step back if OBD shares this guy’s sentiments. I can agree that our offense is good enough to win a Super Bowl with some tweaks. The defense needs a major overhaul.

Offense - 1. re-sign Williams at OT. 2. Get Josh a legit TE, cough Gronk cough Those are the big ticket items. Rest should be cheap and relatively easy like bringing in a low priced vet RB who has power and size. Draft an interior OL in the first 3 rounds 3. Get Brown and Morse to take pay-cuts Defense - needs a bigger overhaul 1. Sign Shaq Barrett 2. Find a way to bring back J Phillips. Doubt Arizona wants to pay him $10m next year. 3. Draft a LB with pick 30 4. Cut Hyde and sign Jordan Whitehead to an offer sheet. I’d give up a 2nd round pick for him. Dude is a heat seeking missile who was that defense’s manhood. 5. I’d bring in Sherman at CB on a Norman type 1 year deal. 6. Let Wallace and Milano walk. 7. Cut whomever you need to on the DL to make the numbers work except Hughes and the guys on rookie deals.

It was pretty tone deaf to call the time out after TB got 8-9 yards on 2nd down. I didn’t have a problem with the first timeout. But once it was 3rd and short, you let Tampa run out the clock and go in 14-6 and you’re getting the ball in the 2nd half.

Agreed but last night showed he’s not close to done. And just like Brady wanted the challenge of proving he could do it without Belichik, perhaps Gronk would like to prove the same without Brady.

If Phillips is a cap casualty in Arizona, I’d bring him back. He’s a big dude who was disruptive. The Star savior stuff is kind of bizarre. He might help a little but Beane forced the guy to take a pay cut. Yes we played a tougher schedule this year, but the defense was noticeably worse this year.

That’s what everybody thought about Brady and Belichik. Gronk showed last night he’s still an elite player. He’d add an element to this offense we don’t have and he’s also an excellent blocker.

And win one with the hometown team. Yes, he’s on his last legs but he’s still a huge upgrade over any TE on our roster. I think he’d love to play with Josh. They both play the game with a lot of joy and are both big athletic freaks. I think it’s time for possibly the best homegrown talent WNY has ever produced to come back home and win a title. From a brand perspective, I think it’d make Gronk even a bigger name than he already is. The dude is Buffalo. So is Josh.

If it wasn’t obvious before tonight, I hope it is now to McBeane that it’s not about a few tweaks here and there.

I don’t share your confidence. Tampa has a roster completely committed to winning a championship. We still have too many guys who would’ve had no business being on the field tonight, particularly on defense.

Actually kind of depressing. We are a lot of players away from competing at this level.

Do we have anybody other than Tre White who cracks the starting lineup of this Bucs defense?

Are we owed an official apology from the NFL? The inconsistency from the refs is what’s maddening.

Chiefs are used to knowing they are better than team they’re playing. Bucs are actually just as good if not better everywhere except QB.

Excellent point. Look at what McCagnan did to get Darnold.

Agreed. Most of his blitzes were straight up the gut though. Edmunds is not good at shedding blockers head on. He might actually be a better player coming off the edge, but not enough data to support that. I will say though that any splash plays he does make are on sweeps where he can out-run his blocker. That might be some evidence he’d be better on the edge.

Andy Reid seems like a good dude. Giving people 2nd chances can be an admirable quality. It can also enable. Prayers for the victims.

More interested in what happens to Fletcher Cox. Can’t imagine that guy wants to waste the couple good years he has left on a rebuilding team. I imagine Ertz ends up with Wentz and Reich.

Rivers actually played well last year. Indy will be hard pressed to replace him. Unless he was sand bagging to get out of Philly, Wentz will be a downgrade from Rivers.

I think the concussion stuff with Morse is a huge X factor. Plus Feliciano seems like a core locker room guy that everybody rallies around. Plus he can play center or guard. Add all that up and if you can get Feliciano in the $5m per year range, Beane might lean towards Feliciano if it’s an either/or. If the concussions weren’t a huge factor, you probably lean towards Morse because he’s the better pass blocker.
