Available players released from other teams

I think you bring back McKenzie and spend Brown’s money on a real Tight End. -
Haason Reddick - free agent I'd love
BuffaloRebound replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Reddick would be interesting. And there is a connection as it seems he’s boys with Dawkins and Matekevich from his college days. He’s not a Milano replacement as he plays a different position but this defense definitely needs playmakers in its front 6. -
Available players released from other teams

I’d be shocked if Brown gets anywhere near $9m per year if cut by the Bills. A lot of really good WR’s on the free agent market and a declining cap could really hurt a guy like Brown. I wouldn’t wanna be looking for a team if I were him. I’d pounce on $5m guaranteed this year I were him. -
handshake deal involves Texans trusting Watt. They did him a huge favor cutting him now. None of his 2021 money was guaranteed until 1st game of 2021 season. Good luck finding somebody in late August who has the cap space and hasn’t already filled their needs. NFL owners didn’t become Billionaires giving anything away for free. Unless McNair is a total fool, he told Watt I’ll give you your release now as long as I don’t have to play you twice a year and remind Texans fans how inept I am.
-
we all know he was released. Doesn’t mean there wasn’t a handshake deal that he can sign with anyone but the 3 teams in their division. Thurman was kicked to the curb.
-
Thurman was po’d when Bills cut him. Watt wanted his release. Unless Texans are even more inept that everybody thinks, you trade him to the Jets for a 5th round pick before you do him any favors and let him go to a team in your division.
-
They traded Dee Ford to SF for a 2nd round pick after his Offside penalty cost them trip to super bowl. They traded a 1st rounder to Seattle for Frank Clark and gave him a huge contract. They signed Alex Okafor for 3 year $18m. Doesn’t look like they did much at DT unless I’m missing something. I’d compare their overhaul to bringing in a Watt and Ngoukae and cutting Addison, Butler and/or Jefferson since nobody’s trading anything for those guys.

i haven’t watched many Vikings games, but Kyle Rudolph is mentioned as potential cap casualty there. He’s a big dude who’s viewed as a good blocker, more along the lines of a Gronk. If he has anything left, he might be the type who can help the offense with his blocking and ability to move the chains when we need to grind it out.
-
Tennessee makes a lot of sense but you gotta think McNair at least asked him to not go to a team in same division, but Texans looking pretty poorly run so you never know.
-
Lack of cap space just means teams have to be more creative. If Watt and the team he desires want to make it happen, they’ll make it happen. New Orleans probably only team that cap is a factor for, but they still always find a way to make it work.

RD 2, Pick 54: DE AJ Epenesa, University of Iowa

I think Moss gives us what we need at RB next year. He’s not gonna break any long runs, but he can catch, block, and get you tough yards. Maybe take a chance on a guy like Marlin Mack who’s coming back from an injury. I don’t think drafting Dobbins would’ve moved the needle very much and I still think Epenesa could blossom. -

I think Epenesa surprises this year. He was starting to flash at end of year. No real offseason program and the weight thing was a little bizarre but he did what they asked him to do. I could see him being a good rotational guy in 2021. Good enough to drop a higher priced vet and use the money elsewhere. -
Can’t see Pittsburgh unless he only cares about playing with his brothers. The Big Ben situation looks like a mess and it’s hard to see them as a legit title contender with him under center. Cleveland’s a possibility but I can’t see him picking Lil Baker if he wants to win a title. Tennessee is legit. I’d worry most about them.

A lot easier to ask guys to take pay cuts (morse), restructures (hughes) and maybe not their max market value (milano, Feliciano, Williams) if they see the organization is going for it.

Carson Wentz on the move?

If Rivers wasn’t dangerous, not sure what that means about Bills defense. I think Indy will be hard pressed to upgrade Rivers unless they land Wilson or Watson. -
Watt made more impact plays in 2 minutes of his 2020 highlight video than our entire defensive line did last year.
-
Green Bay makes sense but they have some issues of their own. They are worse off cap wise and Rodgers doesn’t seem very happy there. The hometown angle is an X factor, but Bills make more sense if like Gronk that’s not important to him.
-
Unless the guy has been terrible with his money, I highly doubt money will be the over-riding factor in choosing his next location.
-
I’m not sure how that helps the Jets. He plays well then your stuck with investing a lot of money in him after 1 good year. Let’s be honest, he’d have to have a 2019 Tannehill turnaround year to erase the past 3. He plays bad and then you wasted a year and passed on a QB at pick 2. You take what you get for him and move on. Sucks if you’re a Jets fan but that’s the best thing for their future.
