  1. Rivers actually played well last year. Indy will be hard pressed to replace him. Unless he was sand bagging to get out of Philly, Wentz will be a downgrade from Rivers.
  2. I think the concussion stuff with Morse is a huge X factor. Plus Feliciano seems like a core locker room guy that everybody rallies around. Plus he can play center or guard. Add all that up and if you can get Feliciano in the $5m per year range, Beane might lean towards Feliciano if it’s an either/or. If the concussions weren’t a huge factor, you probably lean towards Morse because he’s the better pass blocker.
  3. Just saying...look at all the players who opted out on New England. Most/all the guys on the DL are big dudes who most likely are high risk. I’m not normally sentimental but if a few more of those guys opted out like Star that could’ve severely hampered our season. None of the guys we’re talking about cutting are bad players. Just think we could bring a lot of the guys back at a reduced number and evaluate them in a hopefully normal year.
  4. I think we see a lot of pay cuts. I think it’d be kind of harsh to cut some of these guys. Hard to judge a guy negatively off last year. And these guys could’ve decided to opt out. I think you find a way to keep them at a reduced number.
  5. I remember going to Bills/Steelers game in ‘99. Flutie Bills beat Steelers at the Ralph. I remember over-hearing some middle aged Steelers fans complaining how their QB likes little boys. Very timely and relevant though. Easy to spread lies to people who wanna believe it.
  6. Sums up the Edmunds debates nicely. He’s one of the only guys fast enough to get close to Hill, but still doesn’t make the play.
  7. Nobody cares how old he is anymore. His dad played in the NFL for 7 years and is a high school football coach. He’s got 2 brothers in the NFL, he started for 3 years at an ACC upper echelon school, and has started for 3 years in the NFL. If he’s still raw with his bloodlines and playing experience, it’s not happening. This is the year he’s gotta put it together.
  8. Weren’t we worst in the League covering Tight Ends last year?
  9. He’s supposedly gonna make Oliver better too. The guy McBeane asked to take a pay cut last year is being counted on to solve a lot of problems on the defense.
  10. I want my LB to be more of a dawg, more nasty. His dad was a great NFL Tight End. Tremaine is a physical freak. Things probably always came easy for him. He’s gotta start playing like there’s no tomorrow. No way I’m exercising his 5th year option. I wanna see how he plays without tomorrow guaranteed. Time to realize your potential young man or find something else to do.
  11. Mariota’s got 1 year $10.6m left for 2021, no dead money. Wonder if this means Mariota or Carr are on the move. There’s no way they’re cutting Mariota. If teams are that desperate that we’re talking about 1st rounders for Darnold, Mariota is fetching at least a 2nd rounder.
  12. Kind of weird to be paying your 3rd string QB almost $3m. Also were they really that afraid of losing him that they had to pay him that much? Gruden’s a strange dude.
  13. ‘Some in the League’...how was that even a story? Complete red flag when a story says ‘some people think’ and provides no names. Thanks for stirring crap up and motivating Mahomes.
  14. I think saints make tons of sense too for Darnold. They are cap strapped and have Hill if Darnold continues to see ghosts. I think Darnold could actually turn it around give the train wreck the Jets were, but it’s still a dicey proposition thinking the guy is suddenly gonna be good once he leaves the Jets. 1st round picks are truly being de-valued if Jets fetch one for Darnold.
  15. He needs to be upgraded but $3.2m for 1 year is almost a no brainer. Somebody will sign him if we original round tender him which means no draft compensation since he was an UDFA. Can never have too many CB’s.
  16. And mortgaging their future means what in the NFL...1 or 2 years? We broke a 17 year playoff drought in the 1st year of a rebuild and in a year many people accused us of tanking. Dolphins are another example of a quick rebuild. And unlike the Bills in 2017 and Dolphins in 2019, we already have our franchise QB
  17. Laugh all you want, Mariota will be somebody’s starter in September. And I bet Mariota would fetch more in a trade right now than Carr. I don’t think Mariota is that great. We just already know what Carr is... extremely mediocre.
  18. Since this conversation is going there, I’ll also say that cap problems are highly over-rated. Seems like every year, people go crazy over the Rams cap problems and every year they find a way to get under the cap and still be a contender. And their cap problems stemmed from bad contracts to their own players (Goff and Gurley), and they were still able to unload those contracts and remain a contender. Unlike the NBA and MLB, football contracts are very club friendly and generally easy to get out of. Heck, you could cut $30m pretty easily from the bills roster before you start impacting wins and losses.
  19. If you have your franchise QB, I agree that 1st round picks are over-valued. And picks after the 1st round are where you find the best cost controlled contracts if you hit on the pick.
  20. If I were a team in need of a QB, I’d actually go after Mariota over Carr.
  21. Exactly. If you give Milano $14-15m per year, Leonard is gonna rightfully want $20m per year. I can’t see any team who’s thinks they’re contenders paying Milano $14-15m per year. His best bet for getting that kind of money is from a rebuilding team or maybe Belichik who simply likes to weaken division foes.
  22. Edmunds also has a little Thomas Smith in him. For you youngsters, Smith was an above average CB in the mid 90’s for the Bills. He was good in coverage but his giant flaw was QB’s had no fear throwing his way because he had no chance of ever catching the ball. I feel NFL QB’s and offensive coordinators have caught onto the same thing with Edmunds. Even if he’s in the right place, there’s no fear of throwing the ball in his direction.
  23. My guess is some/all of these guys will be more than willing to take pay-cuts. I wouldn’t wanna be looking for a new team in a year where the cap is going down by at least $20m
  24. I think McBeane finds a way to keep him. He’s one of our best players on defense. So many guys on that side of the ball who under-performed their contract. Unless they use that money to bring in a Leonard Williams, you find a way to bring him back. Otherwise you’re making your team worse.
  25. No. I’d much rather trim the fat on the DL and give Leonard Williams $20m per year than give Milano almost $14m per year.
