  1. Green Bay makes sense but they have some issues of their own. They are worse off cap wise and Rodgers doesn’t seem very happy there. The hometown angle is an X factor, but Bills make more sense if like Gronk that’s not important to him.
  2. Unless the guy has been terrible with his money, I highly doubt money will be the over-riding factor in choosing his next location.
  3. I’m not sure how that helps the Jets. He plays well then your stuck with investing a lot of money in him after 1 good year. Let’s be honest, he’d have to have a 2019 Tannehill turnaround year to erase the past 3. He plays bad and then you wasted a year and passed on a QB at pick 2. You take what you get for him and move on. Sucks if you’re a Jets fan but that’s the best thing for their future.
  4. I think he’s definitely an upgrade. Probably more than his on-field play though would be the message to rest of League that Bills are legit and going all in.
  5. Morse is a prime restructure candidate. With his concussion history, he’s not getting a lot of guaranteed money on open market if he were cut. He’d probably take a pay cut in exchange for guaranteed money like Star did.
  6. Colts probably bidding against themselves. Eagles would be wise to pounce on that.
  7. They could certainly do worse than spending $14m on Milano, but I think they’d replace Hilton at WR, could see them go after Ertz at TE, they need CB’s and could use an edge rusher. They also need a LT too. I think they attack those positions first before loading up at LB.
  8. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/02/11/shaq-barrett-is-ready-to-break-the-bank-now/ Tampa has a lot of guys to sign... David, Godwin, Barrett, Gronk, Suh. Whitehead the Safety is a Restricted Free Agent. I’d go after all of their defenders and Gronk.
  9. They have the cap space for now but hard to see Indy giving Milano $12-14m per year when they’re gonna have to pay D Leonard close to $20m per year at the other LB spot.
  10. Im sure some guys will get tagged but it’s a lot harder to tag guys if the cap is going down $15-20m. Does look like there’s gonna be more edge rushers available than usual. Ngakoue, Dupree, Judon, Barrett look like they’re gonna hit the market.
  11. I’d like to re-sign D. Williams too but the guy is 1 year removed from being worth $2.5m on a 1 year deal. And I think teams are gonna be very cautious giving him a big deal. Milano has been a good player his whole career.
  12. Milano ain’t perfect but he’s a good player that helps a team win. Somebody will pay him. Bills were a noticeably better team with Milano on the field. I hope Beane finds a way to bring him back. He’s easily our hardest to replace Free Agent.
  13. If there’s the slightest opening to get a deal done, Gruden will make this happen. He didn’t come out of retirement to go 8-8 with Derek Carr forever. You know that Chucky is dying to get Wilson or Watson.
  14. Just a hunch on my part, but I have a hard time seeing the NFL lopping off $15-20m from the salary cap in 2021. Yes it’s a possibility, but if all their TV contracts are extended for 10 years like is being reported, I can’t see them punishing the current players that much so the guys playing 5-10 years down the road benefit. Especially when the current guys are the ones who kept the League going during a pandemic.
  15. In the spring/summer of 2019 right or wrong Wentz was viewed as a top 5 QB. Their contracts were signed 2 months apart and almost identical in new money. https://seahawkswire.usatoday.com/2019/06/07/eagles-qb-carson-wentz-gets-more-guaranteed-money-than-russell-wilson/
  16. You’re arguing that most deals are structured with huge upfront signing bonuses. I’m arguing that they aren’t as evidenced by Wentz’s deal which was signed less than 2 months after Wilson’s and is the best comp. You introduced time value of money which is completely irrelevant to paying Wilson a $65m signing bonus on a 4 year $140m deal vs paying Wentz a $16m signing bonus on a 4 year $128m deal. Yes, a guy who was already paid $88m on the first 2 years of his deal, consistently takes a beating behind that OL, and is now schedule to only make $19m in 2021 has an incentive problem. And the Seahawks have themselves to blame. Memo to Beane, do not structure Josh’s contract like Wilson’s no matter how big a fan he is of the time value of money.
  17. Everybody prefers to get paid now over in the future. Time value of money is only a small piece of it especially when the risk free rate is below 1%. The more important piece is nobody knows what the future holds so give me the money now. What’s gonna happen if Seattle does trade Wilson? They’re gonna eat that entire $65m bonus. And I guarantee you Wilson is gonna get a new deal and make a lot more than $19m in 2021 for his new team. Take a look at Wentz’s contract. Similar money but only a $16m upfront bonus. Wilson’s contract is horribly structured for the Seahawks sake. It gives Wilson a tremendous amount of leverage.
  18. Time value of money don’t incentivize a guy to get his body pounded by 300 lb guys another year for fringe starter money. It was dumb of Seattle to structure his contract that way even if that’s what Wilson’s agent asked for. Most if not all people see that they’re getting paid $19m this year, not that I got $50m last year, $15m of which was an advance on this year.
  19. I assume the tag #’s are going down if the cap is going down right?
  20. I don’t look at as egotistical, more like leverage. Like it or not it’s a QB driven league so they’re the ones who have it. And if he has issues with taking too many hits and doesn’t feel like he’s being listened to, they’ll surely be listening now.
  21. Looking at his contract, he got paid $50m+ in cash in 2020. He’s only slated to make $19m in cash in 2021. I know, poor him but that’s a really poorly constructed contract from the standpoint of incentivizing the player. Instead of a $65m signing bonus split over the first 2 years, put in guaranteed roster bonuses that spread what is paid to the player more evenly each year. Human nature for a guy like Wilson to say I’m not getting my head beat in for $19m, which is fringe starter money for a QB.
  22. I’d be very happy with a couple trade downs and 5 picks in the top 100. Use 4 of those on the defensive side of the ball to improve overall speed and physicality. I’m happy with Beane’s overall job performance, but we’ve used a lot of picks in trade ups for guys who’ve turned out to be JAG’s. Get more bites at the apple and improve the speed on the defensive side of the ball.
  23. It’s like we’re at the middle school gym and a kid’s lunatic parents are embarrassing him and everybody else in the gym going nuts at the refs.
