Spending a billion for an Orchard Park replacement is absurd. Put it Niagara Falls and you’d get a Super Bowl and compete for anything that Detroit and Minneapolis get in their stadiums. If we’re talking a billion dollars and public funding, building something new in Orchard Park is a complete waste of money. Let Pegula and NFL pay for new stadium in Orchard Park.

In terms of leverage, it’s pretty much all on the govt negotiators side. Bills fan base has elevated their game to legendary status. NFL would take a huge hit moving team out of WNY. The problem with spending that kind of money for something new in Orchard Park is that it provides minimal revenue upgrades over the current situation. If your gonna spend close to a billion dollars on a stadium in WNY, the only way it could ever make any financial sense is putting it in Niagara Falls.

This article by a Carucci provides great perspective. It’s really the only leverage the owners have in negotiations for public money. Not defending Pegulas, but not ready to bring out the pitchforks yet either.

Agreed about it being a negotiation tactic, but it’s not a good look for the Pegulas. Bills mafia/fan base has reached legendary status nationwide. Don’t mess with a fan base this loyal. Stop listening to Jerry Jones.

I also saw Bruce during his playing days at the old Pier waterfront bar. Didn’t look that tall but dude was built like a tank. Barrel-chested would be an under-statement. He was there with Ted Washington who was one of largest human beings I’d ever seen.

Yeah. If 18 guys aren’t vaccinated and it’s reasonable to assume the huge majority of those 18 feel comfortable about making the 53 man roster, that 80% number dips in a hurry come cut down day. Hey at least we’re not in Washington’s boat, but latest numbers were half the teams with 90% vaccination rates. For a team with legit Super Bowl aspirations, it’d be a lot better to be in the 90% plus crowd.

Jeez. Barely at 80% with a 90 man roster isn’t great because you know the bottom of the roster is most likely vaccinated or they’d already be gone.

Surprised how much they passed the ball. Mostly screen passes and quick hitters over the middle, but outside of that it surprisingly resembled modern football. Put on a tape of NBA basketball at the same time, and it doesn’t even look like the same game.

He’s probably got decent trade value if he’s willing to play for $7m this year. Bet New England could get a 3rd for him if he’s not demanding a new contract from acquiring team.

I think we dodged a bullet when he chose KC. He got his big payday and hasn’t had a productive year since 2017.

Eagles save $5m in cap space cutting Ertz. They avoid paying his $8.5m salary which is non-guaranteed but then incur an extra $3.5m in future year bonus amortization. I can’t see Beane giving up a 4th without Philly picking up at least half of Ertz’s $8.5m salary. That means Philly would need to make other moves to get under the cap.

Why would Philly pay any of Ertz’s salary? They only have $2m in cap space. And I can’t see Beane giving up a 4th or 5th rounder for a couple million in cash and salary cap room.

His re-structured contract is basically untradable for the Bears. $38m in dead cap... even spread over 2 years is insane. Acquiring team would only have $2m cap hit for Mack in 2021. Not happening.

He was good last year for Patriots before he got injured. Better than anything we had in the backfield, but a 30 year old RB coming off knee surgery isn’t the most wise signing.

But his entire 2021 salary is guaranteed and Bills are already up against cap in 2021. It’s actually better for Bills to pay him to stay home than to cut him.

A 5 month advance (mid point of season is around Halloween) on $11.7m is probably worth around $250k to Diggs if you assume banks would charge around 5% per year to lend to a guy who’s got significant assets.

I take this back. His 2021 salary was fully guaranteed on March 21. This restructure is almost all Diggs helping the team out. Only benefit to Diggs is he gets is his 2021 salary right now instead of weekly checks during the season.

I don’t believe any of his 2021 salary was guaranteed. So this definitely is something Diggs wouldn’t have said no to.

Lonnie Johnson getting completely blown up on the fake punt has to get some kind of honorable mention. Guess we need to define worst play, but this was up there with the dumbest.

Nothing is ‘voluntary’ that comes with expectations that you either show up or you’re a slacker. This is why players and NFLPA fight to get rid of ‘voluntary’ workouts.
