Arlington Cemetery a clear eyed examination
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to Starr-Bills's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Whether this played out as alleged is hard to say. However, he took the time to go to the cemetery, meet with the family of fallen soldiers and apparently honored their wish for a photograph. While apologies may be in order here—I’m not certain a candidate or president could show more respect. -
Trump 2024?
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
"Nah..nah..nah...just ho-ho-hold on a second..." ----Barrack Obama You suggested "imagine" as if JB was beyond reproach on this topic. and I simply pointed out no imagination was necessary. Speaking of Barrack, 'member when the ambassador and security team were murdered in Benghazi and BO ran with the explanation that some poor b*stard desecrated the Koran and riled the locals? Pure respect. So, let's recap. Biden is incredibly disrespectful to the family of fallen soldiers who perished due to his chaotic withdrawal...that's all good? -
Trump 2024?

Yeah, imagine. https://abcnews.go.com/International/gold-star-mother-bidens-conduct-dignified-transfer-ceremony/story?id=102885936 Three days after the bombing, the remains of all 13 service members arrived at Dover Air Force Base for the dignified transfer ceremony, where President Joe Biden was there to greet the families. Instead of feeling comforted, all three mothers described feeling disrespected. "The administration didn't seem to know our story," Shamblin said. "They didn't seem to know Nicole's name, our names. People from the military certainly knew our story, Nicole's name, our names. And that was expressed to us in a way that felt very genuine and loving. But when it came to the people in suits, it felt disingenuous and hollow." -
Ah, like that kid in “The Sixth Sense”. He saw debt people.

Get involved…get off the couch…
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to joshypoo's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Steve Scalise. Rand Paul. Gabby Gifford. The rhetoric is increasingly ratcheted up, and you would not find me within a mile of rallies, polling places or campaign headquarters. On the other hand, I get along quite well with people I interact with, share my thoughts if it goes that way, accept the thoughts of others and move on. But sincere respect to you for your involvement and fighting the good fight. -

There was that general population guy shot at a political rally last month. He died. Three others wounded. It wasn’t on the news. Hush hush. -
I’m not so sure, seems more like he’s playing both sides of the fence. Where was the transparency when he felt like he was being bullied by the feds when it happened? He has one of the largest platforms in the world, why keep all this hidden? Another thing—-where was the reliable MSM on all this in real time? They had no sources at the government level, FBI or Facebook? None? Zero? Zilch?

The problem with trying to find your way out of confusion is that confusion can be confusing. I understood what you were attempting to say yesterday, as I do today. What you see as 'calling someone out' I just see as dialogue. Your version makes it sound a bit more dramatic, like something one might see on reality tv. To me, it's just a conversation on the internet, not the war of words between the Earp/Clanton factions that lead to the shootout at OK Corral. Either way, have a good day.
-
A response providing clarity on issues that seemed to confuse you, and providing a response you disagree with isn’t deflection, it’s dialogue. I’m sorry for you that you don’t understand the difference. I’ve explained my thoughts with respect to the Kennedy Sibs, and the family generally. You’ve shared yours. There is nothing at all wrong with sharing thoughts on hypocritical behavior on a message board, it’s very common in politics, inter and intra-party. Happens all the time. I’m not sure why you’re struggling with that.

Democrat Convention 2024 (Chicago)
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to B-Man's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Agreed--welcome back @Starr-Bills. -
I think you're confused on the subject matter and the original conversation. L Ron suggested ghosts of Kennedy past would spit on him, and later, physically assault him. Since it's a hypothetical discussion, it's fair to assume he might be right. Maybe they spit on him, maybe they drag him out behind the library in Newport and beat the snot out of him. Illegal and boorish behavior is nothing new to the family, though they seem to rally around one another (mostly). I opined that the Kennedy's have a penchant for keeping in-house squabbles in-house. I don't think that is a hypothetical, but maybe they run to the Enquirer all the time and I just haven't seen it. That lead to additional dialogue and I offered that RFK Sr might well set the Betrayal 5 straight on how family business should be settled. That is a guess on my part, there's no way to know. On all the rest, RFK Jr ran for President as an Independent, decided to discontinue his campaign and chose to support DJT. He has addressed his reasons for doing so. I wasn't planning on casting a vote for RFK Jr, he seems a little kooky to me, so your recitation of beliefs is wasted on me. If you have an issue with political enemies becoming political allies, you should read more. It's pretty common. If you have issues with RFK Jr that you feel he needs to hear, head over to the CVS and buy a "Hey You Hurt Me" card and drop it off at the post office. I do like the potential for the alliance to move some voters from left to right. We'll see.

The democrat establishment had election malfeasance teed up in the event the election went the wrong in 2020. Significant warnings on the safety and security of the system were raised, and followed on baseless and manufactured claims of the illegitimacy of the 2016 campaign. That’s the world we live in.

“Own the libs” is just more projection on your part. I’m here to talk, have a laugh or two, and discuss something of interest to me. You get yourself worked up into a lather, having conversations in your head about people trying to own others and these new Kennedy cousins and I can only point out the facts: they didn’t spit on or beat the shite out if a guy who killed a woman, left her floating for 10 hours and made up a preposterous story in an attempt to cover it up.

I realize this is an important issue across the board, and personally I’ll wait to see what comes from all this as it relates to this individual (I had no idea about him or anything called “Telegram” beyond Western Union), but damñ if the Germans don’t make it all sound so terrifyingly German: “In order to fulfill it’s legally prescribed duties, the Bundeskriminalmant would like you to…” There are many, many times I am grateful the Skin-nerd vorfahren emigrated to the new world a couple hundred years ago.

RFK Jr has acknowledged understanding some of his family being outraged by his decision—they’re pretty close with/work with Biden or and obviously vote democrat. His message? https://eu.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2024/08/25/rfk-jr-family-trump-endorsement/74943843007/ "I understand that they're troubled by my decisions," he told Fox News' Shannon Bream. "But, you know, I think we all need to be able to disagree with each other and still love each other." L Ron thinks his father spits on him, Uncle Ted would as well if he wasn’t burning in eternal h3llfire for his treatment of Mary Jo K. I don’t know of course, but I think RFK Sr tells his other kids to stop being @holes to their brother, to handle Kennedy business like a Kennedy and if their position is strong, they should go for a sail on the bay and win him over with logic and 5 or 6 shots of Jameson. He might even remind Kerry that when she rear-ended that truck and got pinched for DUI, RFK Jr didn’t abandon her and run to the media. What I can say if for all the bike directed at him by a few siblings, he sounds like the voice of reason here.

I like music, like to go to concerts on occasion put I’m hard-pressed to consider any advice or guidance I’d take from a musician generally. What I do look for is commitment to the causes they espouse, and it’s rare to see any action matching up with the agenda. I asked about the wealth tax because it’s a hot button issue for the dem party. Climate change is another one—does Grohl truly care about the Harris platform? I see the FF were touring in 2024–the carbon footprint for those shows has to be enormous and yet, off he goes. And what about that dynamic ticket pricing and the impact on concert goers? It just seems to me that his rage over Trump seems kinda phony, that’s all.
-
Sexx, drugs and big city attorneys on retainer, that’s what the music is all about man. Btw, googled Dave Grohl (estimated net worth $300,000,000+). Can’t find anything on his commitment to the wealth tax or contributing his fair share in advance. All these people with a platform to make a bold statement, yet nothing.

I had the opportunity to speak with a former NYS Senator the other day. He got into politics in an effort to give back to his community—child of immigrants, heavily involved in charitable endeavors, and worked as a citizen politician in the manner he believed the founders intended. He told me the level of disconnect between what was happening, and what was reported in media was one of the most telling parts of his time in office. In closed door negotiations, moving toward agreement on certain hot button issues, the media would be used (or be complicit—my words, not his) to influence public opinion. He also suggested one of the biggest issues in politics is career politicians who have zero experience in work beyond the public sector. These people are often clueless on how to manage their own affairs, he offered. The thoughts shared are nothing new, and the guy seemed quite reasonable as he spoke about processes (and the power and corruption associated with leaving border issues status quo). Nothing new here, just interesting perspective from an insider.

For a family known for closing rank and battling through a whole lot of dysfunction and sketchy behavior, it would be interesting to see what their father might have to say about this sort of betrayal.

I’d bet the vast majority of everyday Americans (r, d, i) don’t think about Ukraine to any great degree. That’s not to say they want bad things to occur to the Ukrainian people, they just are busy trying to handle their own lives. And, if the US government broke it down and said “Hey, Jim and Sally, we have two choices. One, we send money to Ukraine. The other, less attractive option is we don’t support Ukraine and we send you $1350. Which do you prefer?” . I’d bet you’d see more than a few noble Ds, Rs and Is take the benjamins. To the bigger picture, the old adage that “All politics is local” applies. When you talk about vaccination hesitancy, that’s pretty local.
