We don't call @The Frankish Reich 'The Fixxer' for nothing. Write his name on the front, draw a picture of a weiner on the back, and tell them you have better things to do then "stop" at "intersections" and "wait" in your "car". This will go away, probably?

The Thread To Vent On Nancy Pelosi & Her Hubris

A fractured hip/pelvis can really be devastating, especially in an elderly patient. Having seen someone I love go through it and deal with the aftermath, I hope this is not the case for her. -
Be careful not to fly it toward Uranus.

2024 Time Person of the Year: Hitler

Interestingly, I think they looked at lessons learned from recent political history, adjusted and changed the dynamic in a pretty big way. Meanwhile, the dems were sitting down for a fireside chat on 60 Minutes (check your TV Guide for reruns if you missed it). -
I'm under the influence of a perpetual cycle of Dayquil/Nyquil for the last several days. I think I was thinking that an organization like West Point is extremely well-organized, has processes that are followed religiously, and would have a great attention to detail when exploring the question of whether or not an individual was accepted into the academy. In other words, if a mistake, it reflects poorly on the administration. Sloppy. Apathetic. Unbecoming of a prestigious institution. I think I was probably thinking it wasn't a mistake at all, but even then, it's sloppy to assume that they could steamroll the guy and that Hegseth would not have some proof of being admitted. That in and of itself seems like very poor planning and a lack of strategery if the goal was to embarrass him. In the calm light of day, I think they were just sloppy.

You bought an F150 and got screwed. You're not even Time's Man of Your Own Truck. Trump... Most improbable comeback in the history of American politics; Narrowly avoided assassins bullet and stood up in defiance; Targeted for destruction* by the US Government and stood up in defiance; Broke his opponent so badly in a nationally televised debate that he was forced to withdraw from race for the White House; Ran a campaign that invited traditionally disenchanted/apathetic voters to cast a vote; Reimagined outreach to voters traditionally loyal to the democrat party and won them over; Thumbed his nose at traditional outlets presumed necessary to win the WH; Refused to allow the opposition to goad him into a third debate with their nominee; Embraced non-traditional outlets to reach more voters, and sat for three hours in doing so; Crushed his younger, incumbent-lite opponent in the EC and popular vote I understand @sherpa's perspective on Netanyahu, and by any measure the Middle East has been set upon it's ear. Still, for a mostly made up award by an old newsmag, Trump most def would be top 2. *I understand debate remains over whether or not the target was warranted or not. Regardless of how people feel, he still persevered under a relentless assault that would crush just about anyone else. -
I felt your question was forward and a bit presumptuous. In polite company, when queried as such, the wisest course of action is to simply press on. Thank you for the update on the Villages. I’ll avoid that area moving forward. I prefer South Florida anyways, where the temps stay pretty consistently high during the winter months. Glad all worked out with the chutney. We can disagree without being disagreeable.

When the strangers go into the bedrooms, living rooms or closet off the back bedroom, they only whisper. You know, hushed tones. On the one hand, these strangers could just be saying "Hey man I like what you did with the hardwood flooring..." but on the other, it could be something much more nefarious. Ah, you had a dinner swingers party, a "dinger" if you will. That totally explains the living room reference. I can only tell you with all sorts of people doing all sorts of things in your living room, I wouldn't trust that the salsa is fresh.
-
Gosh, don't let the secret get out about the hijinks at this dinner party, or you'll be overrun with 'child bearing aged females' looking for delightful conversation about oddly specific independently yet collectively decided 3-5 day periods of reflection, a strong stock market and...new regimes in your living rooms? What was that last part all about?

I can't remove the circus atmosphere these thing bring without thinking of how Kavanaugh (and others) have been treated. I understand you not wanting him to be confirmed, can certainly see why the opposition party wants to delay them all, but the system is a joke. The 'guy's own mother' has said more than that, though, too, and explained her fragile mental state at the time she wrote her email. Btw--you thought the attack against Kavanaugh was a joke, and good for you for acknowledging it. Interestingly, it didn't seem to impact how you voted, which looking at it from the outside, seems a lot like apathy over the abhorrent behavior of democrats up to and including Harris. It's yet another reason I don't pay much attention to concerns about Hegseth.

It depends on what you mean by 'screen/background check. Verifying that a political appointee doesn't have a criminal record is one thing, or that she employed an illegal immigrant and beat the tax man while angling for director of IRS is another. When background checks devolve into the absurdity of the Brett Kavanaugh spectacle, where unfounded allegations of wrongdoing can derail a person's prospects, I'm not a fan.

No, Trump hasn’t been pardoned. I was referring to Hunter Biden. Correctomundo. Pardons are a political reality, as is the fact that some people are above the law. Seems a waste of energy to spend much time worrying about who gets what.

With luck, you’ll get your wish with at least one notable exception.

Might have been good to know that our government was knuckles deep in the Wuhan partnership early on. Might have been good to know it was involved in development of COVID early on. Instead, he went to a baseball game when the country was locked down, avoiding people like the plague and wondering what was coming next.
