schedule breakdown, wins and losses
Max Fischer replied to SJDK's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I once read that most fans predict their team will go 10-6 or 11-5. Anyway, I'd be happy with 8-8, but I think 7-9 is more likely. -
My personal news guidelines - MSNBC - Never watch after 10AM EST (Morning Joe and Chuck Todd - IMO, Todd is the best on TV) CNN - Only Jake Tapper (and sometimes, not even him). Never watch after they start repeating stories (plane crash, etc) in the same hour. CNN Headline News - Never after Robin Meade (and not after they start repeating stories - which takes about 30-60 minutes) FoxNews - Only Shephard Smith. The only one who even tries not to sound like GOP talking points. All the rest is trash (see MSNBC after 10AM) CNBC - Top of the hour news is pretty good. Can't stand most of the economists/pundits who contradict themselves from segment to segment. Zero accountability. Networks - Only watch Brian Williams, if at all. I find him amusing.

Awesome. There is a 60 year difference between her husband and boyfriend.

2 Women found dead in suitcases in Wisconsin

A little harmless fun. What could go wrong? -
I imagine Cruise could have pulled it off. He is a pretty decent actor (Born on 4th of July, A Few Good Men, Jerry Maguire, Minority Report, Tropic Thunder, Oblivion, etc). A lot of bad ones, too, but few blockbuster stars can avoid the bad roles. He's a nut but . . . I highly recommend Edge of Tomorrow. Go see it.

I second "World War Z" - great book, awful movie. Would have been a much better HBO 10-part miniseries.

Horns & Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill (Stephen King's son) - Horns is a great fantasy/allegory/horror, HSB is mostly horror/action. Both excellent. His last novel is N024RTU - to me it was OK, while other love it. Always interesting. The Martian - Andy Weir (techno "thriller", well written, good humor). Ridley Scott may direct Matt Damon (not sure if that's a positive or negative for you) The "Wool" or "Silo" series by Hugh Howey - Excellent sci-fi trilogy. Outstanding writing and imaginative. Series launched many other stories. I will read his book "Sand" next. "Wayward" "Pines" series by Blake Crouch - Mystery/Sci-Fi. A Treasury agent winds up in a remote town to locate a fellow agent. Town is very mysterious and odd things happen. The third in a trilogy out this month. Easy to read but full of layers upon layers. Dune - of course. Altered Carbon - Sci-fi, detective story. Well done, good writing. Finch by Jeff VanderMeer - Sci-fi, detective story that is too hard to explain. If you want something different, with a good mystery, this underrated book could keep you reading for hours.

T A&M Threatens lawsuit against Bills fan website

Alternatives: - "One more than the 11th Man" - "One less than the 13th Man" - "The 12th Non-Gender Specific Person" - "The 12th Player, Not Actually on the Field, which would be a Penalty" -
Is this ironic or karmic or both or neither?

Inspired by Game of Thrones -- Trial By Combat. It's settled, he's guilty. -
Yellow. Love science.

Good topic. Until recently, I never occurred to me that I was a huge "sci-fi" fan but it would take time to list all the sci-fi movies, books and TV shows that are favorites. Perhaps the "sci-fi" stigma? Anyway, in addition to Primer and Moon (both outstanding), I'd add Source Code and Time Crimes. I'd welcome any recommendations based on these movies. BTW, I couldn't stand Starship Troopers (the movie) and the Forever War (book). I'm now wary of military sci-fi as fantasy stuff for the Cheeto-eaters who live in their parents' basement. A few of my book recommendations: The Wool series Dune (will try the others) Altered Carbon The Martian Wayward Pines series Hyperion (will try the others)

Bomb shell dropped in Dallas! Romosexual?

Facebook and chat boards are littered with posts that could be avoided with an extra 15 seconds of research. -
Another vote for Primer.

Kiper gives Bills low marks in draft
Max Fischer replied to bisonbrigade's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd love to have job where I could make as much or more than I do and have zero accountability. I don't know about most people, but iI make recommendations that could mean millions (won and lost) to my clients and my firm. That's what's so useless about analysts who who don't have to own up to what they say. Whaley and Marrone, like most executive/coaches in the league actually have their livelihood on the line. I think it would entertaining to have Kiper et al actually have to debate a team's leadership on whether or not the picks made sense. Won't happen, but that's why most sport, political and other analysts can be infuriating. -
NFL networks coverage of Michael Sam

I bet a gay Manzeil drafted by the Patriots would get his own ESPN channel. I wish he was gay because I'm disappointed this morning's ESPN Manzeill segments only lasted 25 minutes. -
Good thread. Which begs the question, Why doesn't the Bills have Hall of Famers at every position? FAIL
-
The Bills failed to get 12 early round picks to fill every need.
-
Of course I'm upset we didn't get that guy, I told you he'd be good. Damn Bills.

RD2, Pick #44: T Cyrus Kouandjio - University of Alabama
Max Fischer replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Way does a OT need to run a quick 40? Probably the most useless metric in football. -
Why would you be "concerned?" If Marrone takes him at #9, I'll assume ZM is worth the pick.

Man, this team has had some lousy drafts!!
Max Fischer replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Depends on your definition of lousy. Every team has had their great share of busts. Bills have also drafted a nice handful of outstanding players. I'm not excusing the playoff drought, but your statement is overly broad. -
Actually, the docs/researchers have a pretty good clue; and for a vast majority of humans, smoking and (most) "fast food" are really bad for them. Statistically speaking, there are always exceptions. My grandparents smoked like chimney's and lived into their 90s, but still died of smoking related disease (lung cancer and heart disease).

Last night, saw Jake Bugg at DC's 9:30PM Club. An amazing talent, a great show and his new songs are excellent. If it wasn't for his youthful appearance it'd be hard to believe his only 19.

(Update) Jim Leonard back in Buffalo
Max Fischer replied to RayFinkle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd take him in a heartbeat. Hardnose, smart player. No doubt lost a step but could make up for it in a system he knows well. On Ravens and Jets he always seemed to be around the ball. I don't know the circumstances of his roster cut but it might be that lost out younger, cheaper players.
