See above. It's amazing how people just suppress what happened from 2018 to 2020.

You can’t be serious. Some folks must have a severe case of amnesia. When Josh Allen was drafted, this board — and the fanbase — were nearly distraught. Nearly every expert highlighted his major flaws: shaky accuracy, poor decision-making, raw mechanics. He was the definition of a boom-or-bust pick. There was deep skepticism that he could ever harness his physical tools into something consistent. When Allen actually developed into a good quarterback, nearly everyone was stunned — and the Bills’ coaching staff was treated like miracle workers. Let’s not rewrite history.

Man, are you fragile. Your arguments are so weak. It's as if you want to completely separate Allen's development and the team's success from Beane and McDermott. It's like arguing Allen would have become elite without any input or design from McBeane and that Josh magically puts the team on his shoulders. It's borderline pathological and makes no sense. The front office and the coaches have made plenty of mistakes, and perhaps (perhaps) some other coach and GM could have done better, but you or I have no way of knowing. All I can do is present that they have put the team on the cusp of a Super Bowl, and for that, I give them credit where credit is due.

NFL history is littered with examples of good talent going to waste due to poor coaching. I think there's a lot of evidence to suggest that McDermott, Beane, and Allen were ideally suited for each other. It took a very good staff and GM to pair with a very unique player personality and traits to get where they are. I think an average coach and GM would not have been able to help Allen become the player he is, and by consequence, the Bills would not have been nearly as good. Most on this board, including myself and the vast majority of "experts," didn't want Allen as their first choice, or even the first Josh. Unless you are 14 (which is possible), you will no doubt remember that almost no one but the Bills believed that Allen would be much more than an average QB, let alone an MVP. And few would have guessed that the Bills would become a perennial playoff contender and then a Super Bowl contender. That would not have happened without excellent coaching and team building.
-
There may be many other factors at work. For one, playoff games tend to have much more evenly matched teams. While during the regular season, bad teams tend to lose no matter where they play. I think it would be instructive to determine whether teams play BETTER at home or on the road. A bad team might get killed on the road but perhaps play better (and still lose) to the same team.

That simplistic explanation comically ignores a mountain of additional variables necessary to field an elite team year after year. A Josh Allen-level QB makes that much easier, but even that took dozens of decisions to maximize his talent, let alone draft, sign, and coach the rest of the team. To suggest McDermott and Beane are "average" is troll-level posting.

My God, even a hamster would know that Josh Allen didn't do all of this on his own. It's depressing how obtuse these "fans" can be.

What’s your favorite Bills opening day game?

The Brady Beatdown. -
It's amazing how many fans do not appreciate McDermott. *Maybe* another coach could have won a Super Bowl over the past few years, but you have NO idea if that's true. In fact, any other coach could have led the team to worse outcomes. However, I do think there is ample evidence that this moribund franchise just so happened to turn around to become perennial playoff and Super Bowl contenders since he arrived.

Terrible for AVT. Great player. A major blow for a Jets Super Bowl. -
The Saints might not win a game all year.

That might be true, but you'll need a relevant example. -

Philly and KC missing the playoffs seems to undermine the model just a tad. -

Bills could use the talent but not the drama. It must be a certified messed-up situation that Wilkins is still unsigned. -

Cool. He seems to have “it”: presence, likability, etc. Hope he can make a living doing it. -
My first read was “Oh crap, Deon Walker.” The likely alternative was Carter wouldn’t dress for sit for six games and then get cut.

Already suspended before they signed with the Bills. -
I don't care if the Bills wear turquoise and brown as long as they win.

Reckless disregard for the safety and welfare of others that led to multiple hospitalizations; fleeing the scene of your destruction and being sentenced to jail time and fines = six games Taking an illegal substance = six games- 35 replies

I like Shane, but he's not an NFL-caliber QB. Davidson is "fine" but hardly deserving of a roster spot. So the answer is NO, I'm not surprised by any of the decisions. It will be much more interesting when Hairston and the suspensions come back.

At this point, folks seem to revel in their crankiness via tired and lazy posts. Beane and McDermott were gone three years before Sam Franklin joined the Panthers.

It makes no sense to be that upset with the move. At best, Poyer is the 4th safety, but as he sits on the practice squad, those ahead of him can learn from Poyer, and the team has time to determine if he's physically capable of stepping in if needed.

The Shout song only seems to work with three or more people. Preferably 10 or more. It's creepy when one person sings it to you.
