In-Depth Breakdown of Lamar Jackson by Eliot Crist

Perhaps if Jackson didn’t look like TT some would have an open mind. May as well say Darnold will fail because he looks like Danny Wuerffel. -

The evidence suggests otherwise but please proceed with the crusade. -

Comparisons are lazy, good coaches/scouts see each player as unique in their raw talent, experience, production, team, scheduled, personality, ability to improve, etc etc. That’s why evaluations are detailed and complex, and rarely, if ever, broadly categorized into comparisons (which they leave to poor sports commentators). For example, I learned a aboit Jackson here: http://www.cover1.net/scouting-report-qb-lamar-jackson-louisville/ Many players have talent and every single one of them has deep flaws, the question is does the player and coaches have the ability to develop talent and overcome flaws and place the player in a position to succeed. Personally, I think Jackson has as good a chance of becoming a super star as any QB this year, but like every prospect, many factors have to fall in place, that’s why it’s so tricky to trade up when there is no sure thing. For all we know, Jackson could revolutionize the game and Darnold et al will merely become trivia answers (How many teams passed over Lamar Jackson?) -
Andrew Luck to Bills speculation/chatter
Max Fischer replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would support this move but I have a hard time believing it's true and that it would leak. -
You pick the curve... (OBD will be behind in '18)

This is stupid. -
While we will never know the whole story it’s is tough to argue with the results. Hyde, Poyer and Gaines had the best years of their careers. They all got better under Byrd. Tre White is going to finish 2nd in DROY voting. It’s a tough argument to say that they aren’t close to their potential. Ok, but there are host of reasons, including whether the DBs has success in McDermott's system despite Byrd's coaching.
-
- Results don’t entirely correlate to coaching. It’s possible DBs aren’t close to potential. - DBs may not like the coach - Coach not on same page as rest of the staff - He’s just a jerk in other words, we have no idea and while fun to speculate, you won’t know until something leaks (and even then . . .)

The scouting reports posted on this board for the draft are informative, but if anyone has the chops it would be nice to get similar analysis of potential veteran QBs. I’m still believe Cousins, Smith and one or two others could be the right call. I like Rosen but don’t see a reason why the Bills would have a shot, Darnolds fine but again, not that realistic a trade; while I’m not at all convinced anyone else is worth a trade up. (Though I think Allen is very intriguing, sitting behind a vet).

Hot for Teacher: Louisiana style
Max Fischer replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
I've wondered about this myself. This goes way beyond a fascination. -
Why do we think Browns, Giants, Broncos or Jets will trade with the Bills when they can get Darnold or Rosen? This has never been explained to me. Assuming, Browns and Giants don't make that selection, why would the Colts give up their pick? The question is who are the realistic trade partners and whether the QB is worth it.

Underrated QB prospect I hope the Bills draft
Max Fischer replied to billspro's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m sure they get players name thrown at them 10 times a week by coaches, media and friends. -
From the little research/reading I've done, other than Cleveland, his offenses improved in his one year at each position. For each, he had very little to work with and overall, the teams were terrible before he arrived. Moreover, I think he biggest endorsement of his ability is that the players and coaches seemed to believe he was great and that his reputation is such that Belechick and Saban kept hiring him.
-
Which part of BD's history isn't impressive? The fact that the Patriots love him, he helped Alabama win a championship, made something out of three miserable teams (Cleveland, Miami and KC) with miserable QBs, that reports indicate that Belechik/Pats wanted him back, that Saban paid top dollar to hire him, that other teams reportedly wanted to hire him, that McBeane moved fast to pick him up? Which part doesn't excite you?

If it’s my pick here is the Bills next QB
Max Fischer replied to bills in oregon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’ll trust and give McBeane the benefit of the doubt on anything they do but if Bills don’t get Trade up for Rosen (doubtful), Darnold (unlikely) or Allen (perhaps), I’d be happy to stay where they are, select Falk (accurate, scans field, good build) and acquire Smith or one of the MN QBs. -
I'll be first to ask: Would you fire Mike Tomlin?
Max Fischer replied to Ennjay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Weird question. He’s a hell of a coach. -
This makes no sense to me. Daboll may be new to you but McD has known him most of his life and probably had him in his sights for years. If he wanted BD then why wait? It’s very possible BD had opportunity options as well.

Post less, research more.

Yup, all other takes are pointless.
-
Y’all are idiots. Move on. I’m not upset he’s gone but he doesn’t deserve your vitriol. It’s hard enough to get fired but now he has to hear from the knucklehead section.
