All-22 Grades for Bills/Jaguars (The Athletic)
Max Fischer replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ah, the "I didn't read it/see it, but it sucks" analysis. Well done. -

I will constantly make this appeal. Post the link but not the content. That's how the content ultimately dies (and it's unethical and should not be allowed on this site). So far, two posters have trashed Joe's analysis, commenting it's not worth buying. If they don't find the Athletics's content worthy, they should not have access it to it as well. -

You read it, so pay for it. That's just your opinion. If Joe's opinion is worthless then you wouldn't have taken the time to read his column on this thread. Just because you don't agree with Joe doesn't mean we should be posting his work for free. -

My weekly appeal for everyone to subscribe to the Athletic and your local paper - or they'll all be gone. -
My wife and I will there. Our third “Florida” game this year. Miami in September, last week in Buffalo and now Jax. Will stop by “Locals Bar” and just heard about Sidecar. For those familiar with Jacksonville. How is the traffic near A.P. Randolph? Will also take recommendations for dinner downtown or “south bank”. Go Bills.

The Edmunds Report - Week 6, Bills v. Titians, 10/18/21
Max Fischer replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
I appreciate the effort but I really wonder if we can fairly analyze a player who is "off-screen" a lot. Personally, I'm a Edmunds-believer and think he had one of his best games. He was all over the place, affecting throwing lanes, taking up space and made positive contributions on many plays. Moreover, where you may see a "neutral" play, I more often see TE being the correct spot to make a contribution. While I'm apt to give TE the benefit of the doubt, I have no doubt his detractors will do the opposite. The way I see it, the defense actually played pretty well in the first half. The one big play was a killer but overall, they did well. The downside was the two long second half drives where the Titans just made at the better play. Still think the Bills can beat them three out of four. -

The chart is instructive, but I think it only tells a small part of the story. I'd much rather be LAC, but I’d also like to know who's under contract, who might leave, etc. Some teams with cap problems could have room to maneuver by releasing bad players, while those in potentially good cap situations may have a lot of holes to fill and a roster full of good players looking for large paydays. For example, the Bills don't have much cap space, but if you didn't know which players were under contract, you might think they have significant potential problems.

Rolling Stones to retire “Brown Sugar” due to racist lyrics
Max Fischer replied to Brennan Huff's topic in Off the Wall
I think the best thing thing is to listen to people like your daughter and then determine if something should or could be done. Discussion of Shakespeare's "the Merchant of Venice" has really heated up over the past 25 years. It's a fantastic play but also has some very troubling messaging. Lately, most productions have not tried to hide the concerning undertones and instead, highlight the problems in a productive way. It's very difficult to do. Interesting to see what, if anything, Spielberg does in his upcoming movie. Conversely, IMO, the worst thing to do is ignore the issue. Art is meant to invoke feelings and in the case of "Brown Sugar," it's a great song but if the writers believe they made a mistake in it's meaning and/or lyrics, who are we to say they're wrong? -
As with most things, healthy communication is the key. Most bosses lack self-awareness and need a productive reminder of how things work best. Express your concern that under the current process the project will not get done on time or on budget. You are happy to hear their feedback but you need a bit more of a freehand to get things done efficiently. If it doesn't get better, then you know there's a problem that might not get fixed.

Notable Nexflix / Amazon / Premium Channel Series & Movies
Max Fischer replied to Heitz's topic in Off the Wall
I highly recommend "Stranger," a Korean mystery on Netflix. It's very complex with 16 one hour episodes. However, it's very involving and every episode is good. It's about a district attorney who lost his sense of empathy and a detective who doesn't get respect from her peers. Very well done, great characters and plot. Unfortunately, I could not get into the second season. -
I think of it this way, how do the Bills draft next year? Is (fairly) expensive first round CB a better investment than low dollar Levi? Second round? I would say G or C are more valuable late first and/or second. Most likely any FA CB2 would be expensive. I think it would make sense to extend Levi.

At the very least, it ties a record that can’t be broken.

No need to apologize for questioning his play, just for losing patience too soon.
