  1. Go tell the 2000 Ravens they did not win the SB.
  2. Your "we suck" rant continues . . . dude, grow a pair.
  3. Following his 9-21 for 76 and two interceptions preseason game against New England, Farve said there was no point playing in the regular season. Insiders speculate that Farve quit before team officials officially cut him due to declining skills and the Packers decided it was best to hand the team over to the newly acquired Rob Johnson. An unnamed source said that Farve's preseason game performance indicated "he was washed up."
  4. It's actually pretty straightforward. Much simpler than football. Played Rugby for a club in college -- have 8 stitches in my eyebrow and a pint of blood on the old rugby shirt as a reminder, esp. since I don't can't recall the after-game parties (a vile and amusing events). My roomate played college hockey and I called him a wimp for playing with pads. Would like to play again but I don't think my body could take it anymore (pushing 40).
  5. Uh, wow. When JSP is the voice of reason this board has REALLY gone off the deep end. (Some of you can make deserters look like General Patton). Buck up people! Jeeze Louise what a bunch of wusses. I thought Buffalo had the best, most knowledgable fans. Like listening to a bunch of 10 year olds cry because their team had a bad batting practice. Bills would have beaten this team in the regular season and that ALL THE COUNTS. WINNING: its all that matters. I don't care if the Bills win 2-0 and 6-3 as long as they win. Think Ravens 2000 and you'll stop wetting your pants every down. Awesome Defense, better special teams than the Ravens, just as good a RB and QB and WRs. Grind it out formula. It can work. Have patience and take the gun out of your mouth. Then again, pull the trigger and put us out of our misery.
  6. How is Willis' comments any different than nearly every player in the league?
  7. Isn't it possible that Posey is so dependable and does his job well without fanfare that he essentially allows the other players to do what they do best? Posey can likely start on any team in the league but he may be the best Bills D "role player." It's quite possible that even the Bills' stellar 2nd string simply can't do what he can do yet. For all we know, the other players trust him and know he'll do his job every game. He can be an essentially ingredient to make this squad click. But we don't know, and may never know how valuable Posey is to the D. Our only evidence is: a. Posey starts on one of the best Ds in the league. b. There are three quality back-ups who can't even get speculation from team insiders that they have a chance to knock him out this year or even next. c. Insiders or analysts never, ever considered Posey a "weak link" in the Bills D -- or even a position for improvement. d. NE wins year in and year our with role players. Players who simply understand the winning system and do what they need to do to win. Why do the Bills need a "superstar" at Posey's position as well? It's about time Fans start appreciating Posey for his contribution to the league's best D and stop wondering when he'll get replaced. I for one feel better knowing the team wants him in the lineup on every down.
  8. Not to make point that JP will be the next "Farvar-a" but he does play a lot like him. Even during the SB years, Farve rarely calmly dropped back and fired a la Holcomb, Kelly, Marino, etc. He was a big bouncer and is still a big bouncer at the end of his HoF career. Many thought the "sandlot player" would never turn into a "real QB." I'm sure the Defense would rather know where the QB is then have to track down and contain the "spider on the grill" who can also gun the ball anywhere on the field. All I care about is a QB that makes the plays not what he's supposed to "look like."
  9. I think Reed makes the team, esp. with Parrish out. Except for the unacceptable drop in the EZ he had a good game. Aiken is MIA but may not be his fault the ball did not come his way. Actually, just saw where Aiken didn't come back to the ball on the blitz. Losman had a wicked through down the field to no one. Aiken never got there.
  10. I really do agree that Willis is a much better blocker and picks up the blitz very well (esp for a Rookie). I also agree that he's a much better all-around RB than Travis and made a great difference last year. But your apparent dismissal of MMs impact of making the O click is very disingenuous and lacks good evidence. The O's problems were much too complex to be fixed by simply replacing one player (who wasn't all that terrible to begin with).
  11. Oh, I didn't realize it was that simple. Thank God Travis got hurt or we would have lost most of those games. Man, I didn't realize that simple change did it all: Willis made the O-Line come together, everyone began to grasp the offense, Willis made the necessary adjustments, he got Lee Evans involved, Willis made the O much, much less predictable, he was soley responsbile for cutting down tremendously on sacks, and made all the pass plays as well. Damn Willis is better than I thought. Or, perhaps in your zeal to be right you've ignored MM & Company's "probable" responsibility for the improvement. Moreover, it's ridiculous speculation to say MM may not have had the wherewithall to make the change at RB. If you had further evidence of such behavior I'd think you had a point -- but I can't think of any instance whereby MM didn't do what was necessary to win. (Don't even think of telling me Matthews should have started over Bledsoe, that would be laughable).
  12. Dang man. Do you feel depressed when you have to pay taxes on lottery winnings? I've seen nothing that suggests that this fiery competitor has lost confidence. If you want to see lost confidence: see Drew Bledsoe.
  13. I think this says a lot. Everyone one of our coaches is as good as any in the league. They appear to work very well together and that's credit to their respect of MM. Pretty damn good for a first year coach. If you don't have the respect of best in the league you can't put together a good staff. I'm surprised by your comment. The first few games (Jax, Oak) I agree but that's to be expected from a 1st year coach. But afterward it was VERY clear to me that MM & Co. totally dominated the second halfs -- a great indication of adjustments. The PITT game was an overall disaster but I don't expect that to happen this year. I don't quite understand this point. I can't think of many instances whereby the Bills' had more bad plays called than any other team. This is not a concern at all --I think Gray, Clements and MM are well in sync. Oh, please. You're smart enough to know that this is nonsense. I don't give a crap if the coaches don't tell me the truth about injuries as long as it helps the team win. Why do fans really think they need to know anything? That's nuts. You're a fan NOT the friggin owner. Uh, it's PRE-SEASON. Essentially a practice. You PRACTICE things that you need to work on or want to try. There is no way you or I will know if they are "prepared" b/c we don't know what they want to try out. The goal of pre-season isn't to win the game it's to get your team ready for opening day. Geez, by this standard Levy was a bad coach and GW was good. Your opinion of Losman is certainly not in the plurality.
  14. No. The other players think he's a good football player and that's good enough for me. IMO, JP is too competitive to praise Haddad without justification.
  15. Don't know about you, but I like women, not boyish girls. She looks great to me. Remember (fear) Lindsey Lohan.
  16. I like Stamer. But I trust Gray et al to put the players who fit best on the field. It's possible that Stamer could start for most teams but let's give Posey credit for being a part of one of the best Ds in the league. For all we know, Stamer fits the "Spikes" role and can't do Posey's job on the field nearly as well as Posey.
  17. FYI: Not sure what game you watched but the Bills scrimmage was on the NFL Network on Friday night. I was as worried as as anyone about JP but he looked in control to me. Except the bad decision in the flat, every other play was pretty good. I felt great about his performance.
  18. I'm a little stunned as well. JP looked good -- or at the very least, did as well as can be expected. Besides the near INT in the flat (and God knows Kelly/Bledsoe had plenty of them), there wasn't much to fault his play. Hard to expect him to play any better at this point in the season. Can anyone honestly say that Farve looked better? (NO - I'm not comparing JP to Farve -- simply on how each played on Friday night). I'm not a big Bills optimist - but, damn, I felt good about JP and the Bills.
  19. Watch then rewatched the first hour or so again. Impressions: 1. JP (where else to start?): Not sure why anyone would think JP didn't have a decent scrimmage. Except for the pass on the flat, he played decent nearly every down. All of JP's other incompletes were never in danger of an INT and he was under pressure on at least two occaisions and the other he did miss but on a very sweet play action. Moreover, the "sack" was hardly a sack, he likely could have gotten away and was making a play after #30 missed the blitz pick-up. Overall, I was very, very pleased by his play and was doing what he the Bills need to win. 2. Grandy. I liked what I saw by what I didn't hear: his named called. When I looked at the game again, Grandy more than held his own and seemed to make all his blocks. 3. Rest of the line. Played OK, nothing glaring, not too bad for the first scrimmage. I suppose in the game of expectations I liked what I saw - except for Teague botched snap. 4. Parrish. Looks ready to start at slot. Reed seemed to play well but Parrish is just too good. 5. Moorman. Still in Pro-Bowl form. 6. Offense in general. Already seem to show a bunch of looks. That extra second of defensive hesitancy, the Parrish weapon and JP's ability to take off may make all the difference in the world. 7. Edwards/Anderson. I thought they did pretty well, especially Edwards (though I've pulled for Anderson). They seemed to do what they were told to do: plug up the middle, attract double-teams and let the LBs and DE make plays. Even on a few occaisions they got into the backfield. 5. DL in general. Not sure the depleted GB OL was much of test but they clearly dominated. 6. Back-up LBs and DBs. They were all over the place. 7. The D play of the 2nd and 3rd string. Very encouraging. Makes me think that the "system" is good enough to allow 2nd and 3rd string to fill in nicely. Defense is not entirely dependent on skill of starters. 8. Blitz. Blitz. Blitz. I like that. It's not predictable either. Even when you know they'll blitz you're not sure from where. 9. Holcomb. He looked good, comfortable and there's no reason to think he would help the Bills if he needed to step in. 10. Run Offense. Didn't look awful sharp but I'm not going to worry about it until the 2nd or 3rd pre-season game. Overall, I think it's difficult to draw a lot of conclusions. We simpy don't know what the coaches were looking for or what they would actually do in a real game. For all we know they were working on plays that needed adjustments and didn't concentrate on their more productive ones. Who knows?
  20. 21. Dude, the Republican-controlled and led majority in the legislature voted the raises. I believe the Democratic Governor can't even veto. Nothing like a knee-jerk response to demonstrate blind bias.
  22. Hated it. I'm a big Depp fan and really like the orginal but was disappointed in the new version. I know Dahl is a bit dark -- but I thought Depp's Wonka was weird for weird's sake, almost a cardboard character. Michael Jackson to Wilder's (great) Bugs Bunny. I simply didn't care about Wonka, Charlie or the others. With almost no humor you end up thinking that even the bad kids got more than they deserved. Moreover, the kids we're almost non-existant -- even Charlie. They were an afterthought. Other than the beginning and end (outside the factory), the original version's F/X and sets of the factory were much more imaginative than Burton's 80's video game look. It felt fake, not fun. No sense of wonder and excitement. And what's with the cheesy f/x with the ompah loompas? That was terrible. At one point Mike Teevee says "this is pointless" and I was thinking "Yep."
  23. Did you ever see the original King Kong? It was made in 1933 -- and yes, they did make movies before 1985.
  24. Ah, wow. Damn . . . that looks f*'in good.
