  1. I'd rather have an 85% Vick than a 100% Schaub. Schaub is pretty good and may be a better QB than Vick. Also, you know what you get with Vick while Schaub is a big question mark.
  2. There is "intelligent conversationists" who bring thoughtful insight to their concerns and then there are "one note wonders" who sound like a psychotically-miserable eyeore.
  3. We'll see. I'm not a knee-jerk Fish basher, I did see the game and while they did not play disasterously that was kind of the point. Better than last year, but I've yet to see how they are good enough to win many games. Though I won't be surprise if Miami's first game occupies 55 minutes of a 60 minute 2005-2006 Dolphin highlight reel. I will agree you can add Baltimore and Houston (though PGH is awfully good).
  4. Not discouraging in the least. Bad teams turnover the ball and have penalty problems. Those things are talent indicators (see Pats). I just think the Bills had the wrong gameplan and attitude -- the play not to lose strategy caught up to them mid-3Q. After the Bills got their first possessionl in the 3rd at mid-field they should have opened it up but they played like they were ahead by two TDs. To me, that was the turning point of the game (especially after Moorman booted the ball into the EZ ) 80-yard drive ensues . . . Plus, we should also credit TB for playing a GREAT game. You can change game plans but that doesn't do a whole lot to eliminate turnovers and penalties.
  5. I think there's an important difference between a bad game and a bad team. I thought the Bills played very poorly (see Indy, Jax, & Pats) but they're not a poor team (see MN, SF, Miami). Yesterday, the talent is there but gameplan and execution were not. Even then, the Bills were in this game until the beginning of the 4th quarter. 1. Bills had ZERO turnovers. 2. Oly 3 (3!) penalties. 3. Subpar game from their punter. 4. A great Defense that did not stop the run when the stadium knew they'd run. AND the D gave up the back-breaking 80-yard drive in the 3rd including Griese's 3-and-5 conversion when Spikes left his man who was WIDE open at the 5. (Takeo - Griese is not a threat to run for the 1st). 5. Very, very conservative "play-not-to-lose offensive" game plan 6. Where the hell was Damion Shelton???? . . . and STILL in the game ON THE ROAD through the 3rd Quarter. Fact is, TB had the superior game yesterday at home, they did everything right (despite the penalties), a good gameplan on D, well executed run game and no big mistakes. (Williams is a beast). Note about JP: He had an bad game but not a terrible game, they weren't winning because of JP, not losing b/c of him, either. Bills had NO running game (not his fault), JP rarely had a receiver open and usually was under pressure. I'd even argue he was one step away from escaping the safety. I don't think it's simply coaching hyperbole to think Mularkey was right when he said "this is a learning experience." It was a wake-up call to the whole team from Head Coach to waterboy. If they "play to win" - i.e. play agreesively next week I think they'll stomp the Falcons.
  6. Not sure why so many people get upset and downright indignent about game predictions by the media et al. How can someone be an "idiot" for predicting the Bucs will beat up on the Bills BEFORE the game is played. Now, I can understand playing 20/20 critic and going back and saying "I told you so," but what if (and I know this sounds crazy), what if they're prediction is right? Does that make YOU the fool? I know it's a fans perogative, but I like being a Bills fan because I often think we are much more knowledgable about the game. But that kind of pre-game prediction bashing is very 3rd grade.
  7. To me, Willis never seems to move very fast, it's like he glides or skates. His running style makes him look slow, like he's not really using all his effort - but you know he's moving fast by how the Defense moves. Even more amazing when you see him effortlessly side step a defender in the open field. Doesn't look like he's even trying.
  8. Does Pudgie's still exist? Can't believe I eat that stuff in college. At 2AM no less. At the time there wasn't good pizza joints that delivered.
  9. FYI: Not Robin Williams. Urban legend. The only thing he did say: "The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying 'Give me your poor, your tired, your huddled masses.' She's got a baseball bat and she's yelling, 'You want a piece of me?' "
  10. Two words: Steve. Largent. Far as I know, Parrish played reckless in college and didn't get hurt. Just a freak accident.
  11. Sunday's "Outside the Lines" re: NFL Coach's insane work week was pretty cool (though I have a similar schedule every so often) - especially since they focused on the Bills. Made me a bit concerned whether teams (ie Bills) "overload" players to the point it's all mush -- but that washed away when the Bills looked hell of a lot more prepared than Capers-led team. And Wyche's anecdote re: coaching JP and have him only focus on the first three plays gave me great confidence. IMO, Jerry Gray will be a very good Head Coach. Certainly has the smarts and looks like he has the right demeanor.
  12. The Sheild Rome (can catch On-Demand) Sopranos (can catch On-Demand) Law & Order (on TNT all the time - still cant' believe there are espisodes I haven't seen.) -- After that, mostly like movies, Seinfeld reruns, the Daily Show and sports. I'm not sure how so many people can fit so many shows into their life.
  13. He may know football. But the knowledge and insight that comes out of his mouth can be done by a highschooler. "You see, ah, when you don't make the pass and it's intercepted, well, that's a bad thing." "He's a good runner because he doesn't get tackled."
  14. Someone buys the records -- those Honky-Crap dudes are everywhere.
  15. "Ah, here with, ah, 8 minutes to go is where you win and lose games . . . oh, nachos . . . " I'm goin' have to disagree with you there, professor. Guess the first 52 minutes are overrated.
  16. Make. It. Stop. Honky-Tonk = RJ Don't they know its NOT FRIGGIN COUNTRY -- it's Honky-Crap. I can't believe people listen to that chit. The worst part is that song is as bad as all the rest. Hank Williams, SR, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash et al are rolling in their graves.
  17. See ya sternum. That's gotta hurt. Also - I can't believe Owens didn't see that pass had no chance, didn't try to break it up.
  18. His "game" was over about 12 years ago. I swear, you can script what he'll say every game.
  19. Do you have a TB message board recommendation w/link?
  20. Congrats to Wyche. Hell of a coach. Although he's a grizzled veteran coach, I'm sure he was just as nervous as JP.
  21. It's not hype when you back it up. It's no coincidence that Ravens are consistently one of the best Ds. He's like a coach on the field. No doubt one of the best ever.
  22. R. Lewis = dominating But I dohate the continual BJs of EVERY player on EVERY play. It's as if the other players don't matter.
  23. Seems like it's been a while since the Bills didn't play a division game until Week 5. Also, play 3 of 4 non-conference, including three in a row. I don't think it makes a difference when you play a game but a fast start could help the Bills "control their destiny" later in the year.
