  1. I will be very happy if Denver wins, but say what you want, the Pats deserve the praise until they lose a playoff game. You'd expect no less if the Bills had a fraction of their success. Moreover, besides the INT, Brady is very, very good. Throws a great ball and almost always finds the correct receiver.
  2. Who cares? He's not the coach anymore -- do you think there are STILL threads obsessing about Gregg Williams and Wade Phillips? How about we talk about Flutie and Johnson? DOH!!! Jeeze Louise, let's move on.
  3. I'm (already) on board with April. Why not Bobby April? I'd take Wyche or Martz as OC and Cottrell or Haslett as DC for all the reasons you state above. April is the delegator who'll still have time for ST.
  4. We talk a lot about HC ideas but we should also figure in who they'd would or COULD bring in for OC and DC. Of the HC discussed, who had the best staffs? Who would/could they get in the next few weeks? This is a bit of draw back to my personal favorite, Bobby April, but then again, that could be a good thing.
  5. I hear ya but I'd "take the chance" April would find a very good ST coach -- and like Marv, he'll have great input on how it's run. Besides, chances are April moves on soon anyway for more money and responsibility. As for no HC experience, there is no doubt Bills' fans are a bit gun shy by now. But, that experience is certainly no guarantee for success, and just as important, not necessarily a indicator for failure: M. Lewis, J. Fox, etc.
  6. From everything I've read this guy has the makings of a good HC. Excellent ST coach, loved and respected by the players. Supposedly a very good judge of talent and character; known to be creative and a good manager. I simply have little faith in Haslett, and would rather see Sherman. But Id take April and leave room for April to bring in new OC, DC and other coaches. I don't suppose there's a chance but I'd risk a coach with no HC experience who players love than a guy like Haslett who doesn't inspire a great deal of confidence. (to me)
  7. Congrats. You've successfully destroyed your credibility in one post. Except for Brees and maybe Simms I wouldn't give up a 6th round pick for any one of these guys. Considering smashed up his throwing arm I may take him for a 4th and Simms based on pedigree maybe a 5th. Anyone else?
  8. Exactly. I just don't understand how quickly people want to throw JP under the bus. I have no idea if he'll make a quality QB next year; but the same people who are estatic with the changes should be willing to give JP a mulligan and another chance to prove his first round status. Almost no one had a good year and to expect a "first" year QB to make progress under those condiitions is unreasonable and worthy of reevalutation. You can't complain about the horrid pass protection and want to get rid of JP; you can't complain about the weak running game and expect JP to compensate; you can't berate the play calling and say JP should be replaced by Aaron Brooks or one of the other two dozen other QBs who are great because we've heard of them -- or worse, draft another QB by sacrificing up-grades in other much more needed positions. There aren't many QBs in the league with JP's raw skills and I'd rather give him a fair shot at winning the job outright than go fantasizing about QBs who likely wouldn't have done much better for the 2005 Bills. Call me a "JP Lover" (or some other 3rd grade level label) but I think JP will win the job in camp and be a very decent QB next year. He has above average skills, a wicked arm, a fiery competitive nature and with a good scheme, average blocking, a somewhat reliable run game and at least decent playcalling JP will be a "top-third" QB next year.
  9. Agreed. I was a bit shocked by some decisions. A few come to mind: 1. Passing on 2nd down with 2:33 left? Huh? You have Reggie Bush in the backfield and you're passing? Even if it's completed it's a bad call. My first, "wow, they can lose this game." 2. Third down: I know White is a beast and got close but I say live and die with your best player. 3. Fourth down and 1 and a half on the 42 of Texas. Dude, punt or at the very least give the ball to the running back who is averaging over 8 yards a carry for the SEASON. But no, what's worse is he has Bush motion to the the outside like they're going to pass -- not one defender bit. 4. Why call a TO for the two-point conversion. What's the worse that could happen? A field goal still ties it. 5. Young is awesome: Yound need 4 yards to get the first down but you'd think by the last play of the game they would've made an adjustment to get a quick linebacker or strong safety spying Vince behind the line.
  10. Good for Gregg. Ddn't show much as a HC but a hell of DC.
  11. Sure fire way to find out if JP matches up well with other QBs: 1. Put six angry Bulls side-by-side in individual pens; 2. Place QB wearing a red waving cape within four feet of center pen; 3. Release Bulls as soon as ball is hiked and see if the QB can throw the ball into one of three bins that open for only half a second. If they do better than JP (and survive) then they're our QB.
  12. Which game did you watch? Certainly not the one where JP runs for his life as soon as the ball is snapped and has to look for receivers who are not open. If your 7000 other posts weren't negative and it wasn't well known you dislike JP this would still be a bad post. Please make the point that another QB would have done significantly better under the same circumstances.
  13. During "the streak" last year up to the PGH game the coaches looked like the smartest guys in the world. Once the "players got it" they seemed to roll. But now they can't coach out of a wet paper bag. I don't get it. Clements was actually in the running for Notre Dame, Gray was a season away from head coaching job and Mularkey looked like the next Cowher. Now it'll be a challenge if they can survive the season.
  14. 2006 Buffalo Free Agents (from pft) WR Sam Aiken (RFA) - keep unless clearly have another option LB Mario Haggan (RFA)- keep LB Angelo Crowell (RFA) - keep (may start for Posey) LB Josh Stamer (RFA) - keep CB Nate Clements - gone - Winfield clone. DE Ryan Denney - keep. Won't be expensive DT Justin Bannan - keep. C Trey Teague - gone- Preston ready to start LS Mike Schneck - keep CB Kevin Thomas - keep if healthy and ready to play DT Ron Edwards - keep if cheap. QB Shane Matthews - keep. Low cost third QB but probably will retire.
  15. When you're behind by 25 before you turn around, how exactly do you lead a team when they KNOW you have to throw?
  16. Cut Williams, Milloy, Moulds, Adams, Vincent and don't sign Clements. I don't know the cap numbers but these "veterans" are not getting it done. Focus the team on JP, McGahee and Evans. Then spend like crazy on the offensive line. Forget the Defense. If we can't play with these vets then may as well play "no name" guys. Spikes is back, cut Posey, play Crowell. Play the "bend don't break" Defense that gives up FGs and gets few turnovers but at least keeps the Bills in the game.
  17. I'm a Mularkey/Gray supporter but this team was clearly not ready to play. I think JP showed he's a gamer but too bad the rest of the team did not play with his passion. The Chief's game tells me that when the Bills have time to prepare (see 1st game) they are in-sync. What is it about the game plans? Too complicated? It's like Gray doesn't have enough time to explain his game plan and they fall back to blitz, blitz, blitz. As for the offense. Not the problem today, they HAD to score TDs. Too much pressure to score and not manage the game like the KC game. Bottom-line: Doesn't matter if we have Peyton Manning at QB, if the D doesn't show then forget about it.
  18. Finally, Mularkey understands that fans have a divine right to team information and strategy. I'm just insulted Mularkey didn't personally call me.
  19. You're a fan. You have no right to know who starts. Deal with it.
  20. We must demand more from a rookie who broke his wrist, missed at least half of training camp and the first four games of the season. How hard can it be for a rookie to pick up on an NFL offense from the sidelines and fully heal a broken wrist in 8 weeks? Declare him a bust if he doesn't show marked improvement this weekend.
  21. Given the talent at TE, how many catches "should" they have combined? I think "servicable" is probably 15% or so of all team catches; unlike the Top 5 who are more like 35-40%. Our TE account for about 12%. But that's still not the main point. DeeRay asserts that Everett would sit on the bench or only get a few looks based on current TE utilization. That's pure negative speculation. He's saying the coaches don't know how to use TEs like Gates or Gonzalez but we don't have those kind of players to know if that would be true. Hell: Ben Coats has fewer catches than Campbell and he's widely considered a better TE with a "brilliant" coaching staff. Don't you agree we should reserve judgement on Everett's utility until he actually gets on the field instead of making an ill-conceived logical inference? So who needs to "lighten up?"
  22. Your TE "analysis" makes no sense. You can't accuse the staff of not knowing what to do with a "TE that could get down field" when the Bills don't have one. You logic dictates it would make more sense to feature a TE even if we don't have a Gates or Gonzales on the roster; and then conclude that if Everett was of that caliber they would not feature him because they currently don't run those plays. Brilliant. Got any more? What about criticizing Parcells for not calling on Bledsoe to run the bootleg like Michael Vick? I guess even if Parcells had Vick he wouldn't know what to do with him since he doesn't run those plays with Bledsoe.
  23. I heard that he missed the first SEVEN games of the season and then, gasp, returned to make two tackles. Nah, that could NEVER have happened.
  24. Either Moulds was a decoy to draw coverage and was never, ever intended to be the go-to guy. My guess is Holcomb panicked and and Moulds was a surprised as anyone. At least I HOPE that was what happened, b/c the other possibilities are Moulds fugged up or the coaches actually drew it up so that Moulds WAS a possible outlet receiver on 4th and long.
