  1. Of the possibly available, I'd take: 1. Branden Albert - IMO, instant starter and makes Bills O-line one of the best. Can give the team a devastating run game that keeps the pressure off the QB. Plus, he provides great depth if one of the Tackles go down - or even move Langston to G. Albert has 10-year starter written all over him. 2. Leodis McKelvin - He looks like a very solid player. With coaching, likely to start Game 1 and could give the Bills a very nice secondary -- helped by improvements at DT. Moreover, McKelvin maybe more dangerous than McGee or Parrish at returner. Could be a special player. 3. Derrick Harvey - I'm not yet convinced Harvey is a game changer on Day 1 but he has the great potential to start by game Four and give the Bills a weapon they need to become a good defense. Boom or Bust pick. 4. Devon Thomas - Although Thomas starts Day One and helps Evans and the Offense, I just don't know if Thomas will be a very good receiver or very, very average. Besides, I think taking Jordy Nelson in the 2nd is much better bet. Nelson may never be a #1 like Thomas but chances are Nelson will be a can't miss #2.
  2. Big points deducted for the ugly tats. An appeal to attractive woman everywhere: please stop sporting tattoos. Why ruin what the good Lord gave you?
  3. I deal with the press all the time and those scouts aren't there to provide us insight and/or make us think they're smart -- their only concern is the help the team. It's a good bet NO ONE talks to the press without pre-authorized scrubbing of their comments. They tell the press what they want everyone to know - no more, no less. We have no right to the "real" information.
  4. Nomination for best draft post of the year.
  5. For you draftniks out there - could you start giving your opinion on your top five players LIKELY to be available when the Bills make their selection? It seems to be far too many variables to make an accurate selection after the first round. I, for one, pretty much ignore predictions/choices after the first round since chances are that player simply isn't available. The "fantasy" drafts are just that, fantasy. When the Bills selection comes around I want to who are likely to be the best players the Bills should consider. Create your "board" - who are your top picks likely to be available in each round. If that Owen Shmidt dude that everyone seems to have in Round 4 isn't there - then what? For example, the players I think the Bills COULD/SHOULD select (in order) in the first round are: 1. Sedrick Ellis 2. Derrick Harvey 3. Limas Sweed 4. Brenden Albert 5. Devon Thomas As for the other rounds, I have no friggin idea . . .
  6. Agree with almost all above (esp Val Kilmer in Tombstone). Others, - Max Fischer - Rushmore (obviously. Jason Schwartzman) - Herman Blume - Rushmore (Bill Murrary ) - Royal Tennebaum (Gene Hackman, The Royal Tennebaums - should have won Golden Globe or Oscar) - Inspector Clouseau (Peter Sellers) - Marge Gunderson (Frances McDormand - Fargo) - Atticus Finch (Gregory Peck - To Kill a Mockingbird) - Tom Hanks (League of the their own) Adding: - Gus McCrae (Robert Duvall, Lonesome Dove; can add Tommy Lee Jones' Woodrow Call)
  7. Everyone is entitled to a bad opinion. I like escalators because an escalator can never break: it can only become stairs. You'll never see an Escalator Temporarily Out Of Order sign, just Escalator Temporarily Stairs. Sorry for the convenience. We apologize that you can still get up there. I sit at my hotel at night, I think of something that's funny, then I go get a pen and I write it down. Or if the pen's too far away, I have to convince myself that what I thought of ain't funny. I want to be a race car passenger. Just a guy who bugs the driver. "Say, man, can I turn on the radio?" "You should slow down." "Why we gotta keep going in circles?" "Man, you really like Tide." Every day for breakfast I have a bowl of instant oatmeal, then I don't do anything for an hour. Makes me wonder why I need the instant oatmeal. I could get the regular oatmeal and feel productive. Last week I helped my friend stay put. It's a lot easier'n helpin' 'em move. I just went over to his house and made sure that he did not start to load sh-- into a truck. I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too. One time, this guy handed me a picture of him, he said,"Here's a picture of me when I was younger." Every picture of you is when you were younger. I saw a commercial on late night TV, it said,"Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were.
  8. My favorite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=octMaIKiSUA...feature=related Mitch is missed.
  9. Highly recommend Neko Case or Jenny Lewis. Real country music - not that honk-tonk, no talent, pre-packaged crap you hear on CMT and "country music stations." Stuff that would make Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash smile.
  10. I've read many threads on this page but there is one thing that troubles me. Some threads say unequivocally the Bills will draft a WR at #11, while strangely, others say the Bills will not draft a WR at #11. With so many talented prognosticators how can they be wrong? So I ask, once and for all, will they or won't they? Thanks for clearing this up. -- Confused
  11. I had hoped the "The Patriot" would be good but it is atrocious cliche ridden trash. Yes, many colonist fought the British, but not much more truth in the film. What's worse, the "real" story of the guerrilla warfare in the South would make a very good movie. I liked Braveheart but not sure why they had to change historical facts to advance the story. Made no sense. Gladitor - I give the historical twists a pass since other than Marcus Arelius and Commodus the rest is just a story.
  12. “In every battle there comes a time when both sides consider themselves beaten, then he who continues the attack wins.”
  13. Why do they make the Hulk 20 feet tall? What made the show compelling (in a cheesy way) was that the Hulk was he was an (almost) uncontrollable alter ego and Banner could slip out of town and people weren't really sure what they saw (or thought people would believe them anyway). This looks like CGI masterbation.
  14. GW = David Morse. Another great character actor. You won't know his name but will say, "oh, yeah, he was good in . . ." Overall good acting, well paced (for 50 years of history), and great sets and customs. Not exactly the "good old days." Big fan of Giamatti - American Slendor, Sideways, The Illusionist, etc.
  15. While I congratuate you on your number crunching, I've always wondered where the "cut line" for combine results really are for each position. Since combine skills don't necessarily translate onto the field, what may be the general "cut line" for these tests that suggest they can't cut it on the field? Does a 7.7 in the cone drill mean they can't be a first round pick? Why? Does it really matter? If all things are "generally" equal, instincts in sports are very critical, if not THE critical factor that separates the players. In other words, do they "play fast" or even play stronger, tougher - jump higher on the field? Instinctual timing, getting a jump on the play, knowing how to use your body (etc) can't be measured in combines. You can shave a second off your shuttle speed on the field because the cones are moving and you just "know" how to get around them faster than the next guy, you can out jump taller players because you "know when" to jump, you could out muscle bigger opponents because you can use your leverage. And if you don't know where you're going on the field no amount of speed will get you there. [My favorite example is great outfielders. They are great not because they're the fastest or have the strongest arms, but because they know where the ball will go and get a "jump" on it, shaving a great amount of time of their "40". ] To me, as long as the times are generally the same the only way you can tell the difference between one or the other is what they did on the field and do they possess the capacity to "learn" how to be faster, stronger, quicker on the field.
  16. 1. Smithwick's (Guiness brand) Yuengling with a bit more bite. 2. Yuengling 3. Guiness Draught (125 calories - "not on purpose")
  17. Ridiculous. Turn on any "satirical" radio program or comedy show and you'll find something just as offensive to someone. Imus has had characters on his show has continually skewered every demographic (including white guys) for years. Hell, every nearly every rap song is worse.
  18. Step away from the panic button, Mr. Nervesofsteel. Clearly you don't spend a lot of time in pressure situations. Reign in your overactive imagination and relax. Go read a book.
  19. Not that I want to end the senseless bashing, but "presser" is common name for "press conference" in the media world.
  20. Pittman seems like a fast guy who can get through huge holes. Oh, wait, you don't see those kind of holes in the NFL, or at least by the Bills. Looks like a nice change-of-pace back but not an every down kind of guy.
