If the Bills moved out of Buffalo , and New York..
Shamrock replied to 2003's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A tout le monde... Hmmm. They could come to Melbourne. I'd save a lot of money getting to games that way. Let's see. US ally, check- that rules out any Canadian move! Good weather. Sport mad city. Host of the 2006 Commonwealth games. Yep. The Bills can come to Melbourne, only they can't change the name, uniform or anything else- that'd be the sticking point. -
This form billsdaily.com from last week Panther's Grades: J.P. Losman did some very good things and can learn a lot from the game. Unfortunately with the game on the line his inexperienced showed. He finished with a career high 197 yards on 16 of 29 with a QB rating of 62.0. The downside was missing a wide open Eric Moulds for a potential winning touchdown and then throwing the interception that clinched the loss. He also made a mistake on a third down throw to the end zone for Lee Evans. He had Josh Reed open for a first down underneath but threw the incomplete pass deep In reference to having Reed open and missing the pass/ timing...maybe Losman doesn't like throwing it to Reed - he'd rathere a pick than a Reed completion
-
Has Lee Evans improved enough through the season? His numbers, though not great compared to Chambers (?) but were solid: 5 catches, 117 yards, 3 TD's, longest 51 yards. At keast there's 4 catched of 66 yards- good averages then as well. So is he becoming a solid NFL starter, something this game should be a benchmark for his performances- not just stats but that they are solid numbers? Or was he just dominant over poor coverage?

I read something once about a vision problem that was not correctable. This was supposedly impacting his ability to pick up the ball and causing drops. Here is something from footballguys.com that mentions it... Peerless is item #1 Price struggled to make an impact in Atlanta for a variety of reasons. He was not physical enough to be a true #1 WR, Vick often struggled with his accuracy as a passer, and there were reports that Price had vision problems which were affecting his play. My mate here is a big Falcons fan and long ago in their chat room they have been discussing Peerless' less than peerless eye sight. The Falcs reckon it was the reason for his drops etc and why they cut him.

So whats the deal with Mike Williams this week?
Shamrock replied to NavyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He has overcome the infected ass hair, however he is in counselling for the pain and suffering that it caused...and that he wasn't given a parade in downtown Buffalo for overcoming such an injury and that he's also had his claim for a purple heart rejected for this wound... -

...he let acting in the "Longest Yard" with Adam Sandler get to him. That film should be grounds for Prison too. I feel like i've aided a felony by having seen it . Either that or he's preparing for his next Prison Football film That said, he was better than the job they got form Romo- aghh Bill, what were you thinking

So i get the fact that the HC will coach according to his personality, what he's coached around as a co-ordinator and those who have coached before him and who influence him. So, he sits around and develops some X's and O's. He writes out a plan that involves coaching professionals to follow X's and O's and then to interpret some as they professionally see, as in option routes and adjustments. At some point though if his X's and O's don't fit the professional, whose job is it to work towards developing professionally- what happens? It is also excepted that Professionals work to improve themselves. In Oz, Health professionals, including Doctors- aren't trusted to undertake this themselves but we have a minimum requirement of courses/ training to complete in order to annually re-register. Example, Josh Reed was an inside- slot (I watched my typing then-phew ) in college and gets tried outside No.2 in the NFL. Falls short of professional expectations at No 2. where he's projected. Is that coaching or player? Obviously in college he was better than a truck load of kids playing WR. Is it the coaches job to rewrite some X's and O's to better fit Reed or is it up to Reed to aim to fill those X's and O's with coaching. Or does nobody say anything and either the HC gets the sack, Reed gets cut? (which would please a lot on this board )

Not sure if he came back, was just reading Billsdaily...I'm following this from afar...Melbourne, Oz so you lose some things going back and forward on the net. If he got taken off on the cart, permanent, maybe they should consider what the vets at Caulfield race course did to Mumify 2 months back and end everyone's suffering then and there. They'd use a screen of course...

Other than that what a big bust he's been. unfortunately, his Big Bust is continuing. Time to ring Tony Mandarich for advice maybe.

So with next years Top 10 draft choice.....
Shamrock replied to ROCCEO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We should be relogated to the Canadian League...or College...or PeeWee football until we are good enough... -
Is he a "physical specimen" that's injury unlucky (prone?), a guy who can't play hurt or just an enormous fat kid in a man's game. I tend to view his injuries as being more of a fat kid in a man's game. To be carted off and then still participate later...c'mon. Serious. I'd love to hear what the medics think of him...You see some people/ athlete's play through insane injuries, Big M wouldn't play through a hang nail. He's probably more suited to indoor lawn bowls than the offensive line.

Tony Mandrich. And Ryan Leaf would rate as a better "bust" than MW...although at 380 MW wouldn't eactly be a double D either...

Can the Bills line up some fights...I mean, free up some cap room. http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/9062133 I've sighted posts to cut Reed now, sending a message and likewise for the Beer-guy some time ago...maybe if they pitch 1/2 time entertainment with a fight between The Beer and no-Hands Reed Toyota wouldn't have to buy 1600 tickets- ah it's a blackout in Oz anyway, damn last game was Bills-Pats and i'm not quite Brave enough to watch it yet

Best Bills Day 1 Pick of the 2002 Draft
Shamrock replied to Rico's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This from the Bills daily site... Excuse the 20:20 Hindsight Bills Daily 2002 Draft Board Round Pick Overall Pos. Player College 1 4 4 OT Mike Williams Texas 2 4 36 WR Jake Reed LSU 2 29 61 DE Ryan Denney BYU 3 32 97* SS Coy Wire Stanford 5 4 139 DT Justin Bannan Colorado 6 4 176 CB Kevin Thomas UNLV 7 4 215 OG Mike Pucillo Auburn 7 40 249* WR Rodney Wright Fresno St. 7 42 251* FB Jarett Ferguson Virginia Tech 7 50 260# LB Dominique Stevenson Tennessee * - Compensatory Pick # - Non Compensatory Pick to fulfill number of draft picks permitted according to the Collective Bargaining agreement. 2002 DRAFT CAPSULES 1) OT Mike Williams 6-5, 375, 5.09 - Williams is a tight, impact player with a thick chest and arms. He is a big man with good flexibility and is very quick for his size. He allowed only two sack in his college career in 28 starts. He played right tackle to protect the blindside of left handed QB Chris Simms. He's light on his feet with excellent movement and has great techniques. He is a high character player who wowed Bills officials during his visit to Buffalo. He helps solidify the offensive line and projects as a left tackle in the pros but there is a chance he starts his career on the right side. It will be interesting to see how the offensive line juggles now that Williams comes to Buffalo. 2) WR Josh Reed 5-10, 210, 4.65 - Reed He is a possession type of of receiver and is tough, with good run after the catch ability. Does a great job at breaking tackles and is considered in the Andre Reed-mold by Bill Polian. He won the Biletnikoff Award for being the best college receiver last year. He had 94 catches for 1,740 yards as a junior last season. He lacks pure speed but is a terrific athlete with solid body control. He was the best available athlete at the time and his a good choice except he comes in to tough competition as this wasn't a need area for the Bills. He is different than the burner type of receiver that Buffalo already has in Peerless Price and Eric Moulds. 2) DE Ryan Denney 6-7, 276, 4.85 - The Bills coveted this guy enough to give up a fourth round pick to move up eight spots to grab him with the second of two picks in the second round. His very tall and has very good speed. He projects as a pass rushing end in the pros. He is 24 years old, so age may be a factor. Has good explosion off the ball and is good at chasing plays from behind. He should compete for a job right away on the Bills thin defensive line. 3) SS Coy Wire Stanford 5-11, 209, 4.5 - He's an inexperienced strong safety as he played running back early in his college career. He also has played outside linebacker. He's a team leader who tackles very well and is a good worker. Doesn't have great athletic ability and is raw as a defensive player. He's a team leader who tackles very well and the Bills hope he can learn enough to be a factor in the 46 defense but was a reach in the third round. 5) DT Justin Bannan Colorado 6-2, 300, 5.01 - Bannan is a hard working, tough tackle that has excellent instincts and technique at tackle. He doesn't have the mass size but the Bills feel he is a two gap stuffing tackle. Doesn't rush the passer well but won't be asked to in the Bills defense. He is considred a good run stopper in the Shawn Price mode. He may replace Price on the roster since he's an unrestricted free agent. 6) CB Kevin Thomas UNLV 5-11, 180, 4.64 - Thomas is a good cover corner, who is a good athlete. He's smooth and agile but his weaknesses include his size and suspect tackling ability. He does seem to have the knack for making big plays but doesn't have top-end speed and needs to gain some aggressiveness. Will compete for a backup job with the club. 7) OG Mike Pucillo 6-3, 315, 5.35 - A disciplined lineman who can play both guard and center. He is improving and has some upside with his smart play. His technique is good and he gives a solid effort to help overcome the lack of great talent. Will challenge for a backup lineman position. 7) WR Rodney Wright Fresno State 5-8, 185, 4.45 - Had a big finish last year and had 91 catches for 1,331 yards and 10 scores. He is very small for a wide receiver with good quickness and elusiveness but not great pure speed but is a great route runner. The Bills are hoping they can catch lightning in a bottle like they did with Reggie Germany last year. It will be tough for him to crack this team. Unlike other drafted players he is not known for giving great effort all the time. 7) FB Jarett Ferguson 5-8, 222 - The Bills needed to add a fullback and did so late in the draft. He's a good bruising runner with some good movement to boot as he changes direction well. He is also considered a good receiver and blocker to go along with his good running skills. Not an ideal size for a blocking back. Should challenge for a roster spot at a position where there is no depth behind Larry Centers. 7) LB Dominique Stevenson Tennessee 5-11, 222 - Run stuffing middle linebacker who is small and can't handle multiple blocks well. Played running back in high school. He always plays hard but is slow at reacting. Best chances of making the team is as a special teams player. 2002 DRAFT GRADE The Bills had an excellent first day of the draft and filled some holes on day two. Staying with the 4th pick and taking Williams was a smart move, it is a safe pick and he will be a fixture at tackle for year. We love the pick of Reed, he will be a starter in 2003. Denney was a good need pick but they gave up a valuable 4th round pick to move up and get him. They got burned in the third round when Denver traded up ahead of them and took a defensive tackle they may have wanted. Wire is a project case and the third round is too early to pick one. Picking Bannan in round 5 may have made up for the third round mess. The later picks filled some holes in the depth with Ferguson being a possible steal, while Stevenson and Wright may be possible misses. Grade: B. If you count the trade for Bledsoe in the draft day grade then it becomes in A. -
I remember seeing Marv Levy, the history Buff make a comment along the lines of, "The trouble with Hitler was that he couldn't win on the road." in respect to the importance of road wins for a season. So we're 0-5 on the road now? Time to go to Berchesgaden for the Bills? The D stopped the run but got killed by the pass- is this D so predicatble that if you take away one element from their offense they just go a different route to kill us? Likewise, how did our run game contribute (or not) to passing and vice versa. We just can't seem to consistently get anything to go for us at the present.

I thought the reason why Rogers went late (?) in the 2nd was that he had a. an abkle injury and b. he was considered lazy with his potential. ...don't forget the midget DE of 2000 Corey Moore...

OT- Armistive Day 11th Hour 11/11/1918 Reminder
Shamrock posted a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just a quick reminder for this occaison. -
In the 90's the Bills used a play run off Tackle behind the pulling Tackle and Guard from the opposite side. I remember seeng this a lot, even with Marv commenting on this. Not seeing a lot of games from Buffalo here Down Under, can anyone recall this type of pulling play being run recently out of interest?

as an aside, didn't Nate do his knee playing some other activity?
