I think he bit off more than he can chew. It shows in the lack of attention to detail. The 12 man situation epitomizes the season. We need a HC, and OC, and a DC. He’s done a good job as DC, but not a good job as HC this year. That comment was ridiculous. Totally ridiculous by McD. If Cook hadn’t coughed it up again he probably would have scored on the fumble run. So maybe the beef is that Dorsey scored too “medium.” Either do it right away or play a four-minute offense so the McD D didn’t blow another game where the offense left the field with a lead against a crappy opposing offense.

I agree with the first statement. I have no beef with benching Cook. He’s not a fumbler, but his fumble was reflective of the lack of attention to detail with which we’ve played recently and which literally cost us the game last night based upon our inability to properly count to 12. My beef with the benching situation is that Gabe Davis wasn’t hanging out with him on the chalk after yet another backbreaking drop.
-
I completely agree with you. But I don’t know if they’re going to want to pay him given his age and our cap situation.
-
In all seriousness, I feel like bottoming out will make it easier to say goodbye to a lot of long-termers next year for cap reasons. Morse, White, Hyde, Poyer, Davis, Miller (post-June 1), and Neal all are likely goners. Harty, DaQuan, Phillips, Settle, Klein, Matakevich, and maybe Sam Martin probably fall into that category, too. Gotta clear cap space, load up on offense, and let a bunch of kids try to figure it out on the other side of the ball.

It’s probably true, but the big issue for me is the likelihood that a 35 yo pass rusher is going go recover from that injury and want to be here for what at this point looks like a retooling year next year. On that latter issue, I believe that the pieces are there to do this quickly, but the defense is going to have to be young next year.

Bills are 7-14 in games decided by 7 pts or less, last 3 seasons
SectionC3 replied to Yobogoya!'s topic in The Stadium Wall
Trust the process, which seems to (mostly) lose close games. We’re a bunch of front runners who can’t come back and who can’t hold a lead when we do come back. We don’t handle adversity well. -
Maybe he can be a June 1 cut. It’s ugly. Good guy, good leader. But washed.
-
Totally agreed. Process this process that and we can’t count to 12.

Thoughts on clock usage at the end of the game?
SectionC3 replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
It did seem rushed. They had to fire drill onto the field. And he missed. So there’s that. -

His strategy forced a rushed kick and actually worked, but for the counting failure. Maybe a sesame street video with the count is on deck for tomorrow morning. -
I didn’t actually think this was a good idea when I started this thread. I now have second thoughts in that respect.

Oh FFS - scoring too fast. Give me a break. That’s not a reason to be unhappy with Dorsey. There are plenty of reasons, but under those circumstances, that ain’t it.

Gabe Davis & Cook decline to interview after the game
SectionC3 replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think you’re thinking of the bass tackle. My beef with Martin was the crappy punt that resulted in a 35-ish yard return. I think Ferguson made the tackle and the flex on that one. -
Gabe Davis & Cook decline to interview after the game

He was torqued. He paced the sideline for much of the fourth quarter. But here’s the thing. It was a stupid, attention to detail mistake. He deserved what he got. Davis should have been benched too. And whomever was responsible for 12 men should take heat. But the latter two things didn’t or won’t happen. Which is a problem. He got Zack Mossed. -

Malaise. The group was together for too long without winning anything. -

And it was done better that by Sam Martin tonight. -
Oh I’m there. This group is done. Time to reload around the QB.

Gabe Davis & Cook decline to interview after the game

Agreed. Maybe Davis didn’t get that treatment because of sherfield’s injury. But his gaffe was just as bad as cook’s first fumble. -

Fire McDermott - 12 On the Field INEXCUSABLE
SectionC3 replied to WEATHER DOT COM's topic in The Stadium Wall
And done what? That the thing thats so annoying. Everyone in the stadium knew the fire drill was coming. We had plenty of time to prepare. And we still screwed it up. Lack of attention to detail all night. So many things went wrong, but it’s tough to lose that way. I do feel as if we got the short end on two big calls (saw it in stadium only; just got home and no tv replay yet). Perhaps the one comfort is that we probably will be ready to check sentimentality at the door and reload after this year. -
Stadium has no life or energy. I hope someone is peeling the paint from the walls in the locker room. This place is dead. Just brutal, angry atmosphere.

Should Dorsey come down to the sidelines?
SectionC3 replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think the point is to get Dorsey further away from the sideline. -
I suspect you talk to people in the organization. I sense the same things. What’s missing now is fire, desperation, enthusiasm, and emotion. I feel like we got complacent after the AFCCG and were sort of waiting on the inevitable rematch with KC in the playoffs. Then we found ourselves 7-6 and turned it on before 13 seconds. Last year was a practical and emotional mess that culminated with the fury of a woman scorned. Now this year, it just seems . . . Vacant, and blank. Something big has to change. These guys need a jolt. They’ll probably win the next two, get smoked by Philly, wake up for KC and perhaps stumble in the playoffs or perhaps miss depending on whether we stub our toes in December and January. I really wonder about the mental approach of the QB. He’s the leader. We need him to be himself and have fire. He’s far from the problem, but his attitude sets the tone. It’s not like “zen Josh” is turning it over less than “sugar high Josh.” So maybe that’s part of it - have him get amped, cut it loose, and see who it brings along. And if we people who are stale and just want to go through the motions, then we thank them for their efforts, wish them well, and find someone who, in McD’s terms, is actually hungry.
-
No. They need to enjoy themselves a little bit. Been around one guy who is wound too tight for long enough. Get back to having fun and cutting it loose.

There is no plan. It’s whatever happens on the moment. Kind of like how a feral cat had no agenda and just does its thing. That’s our offense. also, the defense is playing like hot garbage. There’s a lot to like these days.
