COVID was a mess all the way around. The shutdowns in the very beginning made sense. The nursing home placement in NYS did not. It was stupid then, and stupid now. But you know what else didn't make sense? The bonehead in the White House talking about squirting body organs with Lysol, HCQ, undermining science, and suggesting that people wear surgical masks before the vax was released. We could have been done with that a lot faster, and maybe avoided later shutdowns, if we just took the friggin thing seriously from the start. I hold Cuomo responsible for the nursing home mess in NYS, and I hold Trump responsible for a lot of the divide that ensued. Lots of bad leadership all the way around. Hoax.

It's all performative outrage. By the time anyone figures out what actually happened here--there's a report that the Trump administration approved the stay of the alleged shooter--we're past it and on to the next point of outrage. Of course this is terrible, and heartbreaking, and unnecessary. But it probably speaks more to mental illness, perhaps to red flag laws, and to a culture of war than it does a broader problem with "violent criminal" aliens. You know what's also heartbreaking and sad today to me today? Mike Leavitt asking the mother of his young child to self deport. Awful all the way around. He wasn't asking her to leave when he was banging her, and when things were good in the relationship. But now? It's a convenient way to get sole custody. How sad.

I agree with this. He’s the angle nobody talks about: We have to make it fun for our QB who is rich beyond his wildest dreams to drag his Oscar-caliber wife away from her career and SoCal weather for six months a year to play on this football team. This ***** this year is decidedly not fun. So the question becomes what makes it fun, and who blends fun with competence? The answer smacking everyone in the face is Brian Daboll. No matter how this year shakes out Brady is cooked. So then we get into who replaces him, which leads, in my view, inevitably to Josh asking for Daboll. I suppose Daboll could get another head job-but that’s doubtful for this cycle, and that brings Davis Webb into the mix. in any event, turning back to Daboll, then the question is does McD take him back. And then we get into this tug of war where it very well could be that Josh says I’m getting Daboll, McD resists and, short of a Super Bowl appearance, that resistance leads to a parting of ways in which Daboll is the head coach of the Bills in 2026.

I’ve settled on Beane, Brady, and the S/C staff being the fall guys for McD if this year goes south. Sean is a self-preservationist. He’s blamed a DC, an ST coach, a couple of OCs, and Jerry Hughes. To date, the front office hasn’t been a target. So I suspect he’ll pin this year on the roster (both pro and college player personnel), the OC, and s/c. On their faces, they’re all reasonable scapegoats. But rest assured blame won’t fall on the HC.

This actually makes a little sense. Beane probably checked in on Shaheed, and it’s natural for a “hey, what about ..,” moment re Cooks in those talks.
