  1. Great article Pete. Simmons is the best writer on that site. Always makes good points.

    Loved this one:

In a league loaded with guys who believe they're better than they actually are, Horry understands his own strengths and limitations better than anyone. That's what makes him so great. And that's why I like the poker analogy for him. He's the guy sitting at the table with a towering stack of chips, the guy who never chases a bad hand, the guy who makes your heart pound when he's staring you down. You never remember the hands he lost, but you always remember the ones he won. And when he finally cashes out and gets up from the table, you hope you never have to see him again.

  2. The guy is so cool under pressure. That was a great game after how abysmal the first four were.

But really, Detroit blew it. I called that last play to my Dad. And said they'd try to get Horry a 3 cause he was on fire. And what does Rasheed do? Goes to double Ginobli leaving the red hot Horry wide open. What did he expect to happen?

Horry is such a clutch role player. He just oozes so much confidence when the game's on the line. I love the fact he can raise his game. Notice all 21 of his pts came from the end of the 3rd qtr on. He made all the big plays. That is remarkable. Especially that lefthanded dunk.

P.S. BF... I wouldn't say Detroit's done. But the way this game went, I definitely think whoever won it was going to win the series because of the momentum.

Plus I can't see the Spurs blowing two on their home court. But I wouldn't be shocked if the defending champs show some true heart and push it seven.

  3. It's still a little early but I'll take a shot:

AFC East- Patriots- can't pick against them until proven otherwise.

AFC North- Ravens- adding Mason will make them balanced and D is real stingy.

AFC South- Colts- like Pats, hard to pick against them till someone steps up.

AFC West- Chiefs- offense is great and improved D should be enough to win division.

WC1- Jets- D will continue to improve but it depends on Pennington.

WC2- Jaguars- Almost unseated Colts last year. Leftwich will continue to improve.

AFC sleepers: Bengals, Bills, Raiders, Texans

NFC East- Eagles- how can ya pick against them in that division?

NFC North- Lions- offense will be unstoppable. They'll win a lot of shootouts.

NFC South- Falcons- nice balance as long as Vick stays healthy.

NFC West- Rams- can't pick against them till someone else unseats them.

WC1- Panthers- most dangerous team in NFC if healthy.

WC2- Packers- somehow, they'll find a way in. Can't bet against Favre.

NFC sleepers: Bucs, Cowboys, Redskins, Saints

  4. Biron is still the most reliable netminder the Sabres have. Miller hasn't proven he can step it up in the NHL. He has yet to make the transition from being a great AHL goalie to being a capable NHL one.

Noronen has been screwed over. I'll echo what Clements has told me many times. He has become the odd man out.

I wouldn't call Miller a prospect anymore either. He's been out of school for three years and has had time to develop.

Roy on the other hand already showed some promise with Buffalo last year.

Having a big goal scorer like Vanek (if he carries his play to the NHL) would go a long way to getting Buffalo back to the postseason.

There's almost no chance they'll re-sign Zhitnik. His asking price will be too much probably despite the cap.

P.S. The cap is going to be $38 million.

  5. I never said the Jets were bad. They should have gone to the AFC championship game, and they COULD have beaten the Pats.

I think they have a good team. Vilma is a monster. But I still don't see that team as good enough to make a Super Bowl.

Also, I am going to respectfully disagree with you on the Jets beating the Pats. They had a great chance at Gilette Stadium and couldn't get it done. And in the rematch, the Pats made Pennington their B word. What it comes down to is they own the guy. He has a chicken arm and can't throw it down the field. And they knew where he was going most of the time.

When that happens, you have a mental edge before the game even starts.

If they had played again, I think the Pats would have won rather easily.

  6. I shouldn't mention this because it happened to my team. But what the hell? Giants blow a 35-10 lead to the 49ers and lose by a field goal. Refs turn their heads when the receiver down field was interfered with.

And yes. I had a bad feeling the 49ers would comeback because they scored really quick to turn the tide.

  7. I remember being pretty amazed here

Down six with 8.9 seconds to go, Reggie Miller caught a pass and put down a quick three-pointer. He then stole the inbounds pass, and hit another. On the ensuing play, he was fouled, and hit both free throws to seal the win. Miller had scored 8 points in less than nine seconds.

Did you have to post it? LOL... that still stings.

I love most of the things brought up. So, I'll try these:

    DiMaggio's 56-game hit streak

Ripken eclipsing Gehrig for most consecutive games played

Sampras surpassing Laver for most grand slams

UCLA winning all those titles under Wooden (didn't they have a huge win streak snapped by Notre Dame on national TV?)

How about this one as well? Knicks trail the Milwaukee Bucks 86-68 in the fourth quarter. They run off the final 19 points to win the game 87-86! And remember. There were no three-pointers back then. Still one of the vintage calls by Marv Albert as well.

  8. He even has his own website!!!  And boy it hasnt been updated in awhile LOL

    Miro Satan

“But sometimes all you need is a change.”, said Satan a few weeks after a trade. His words were fulfilled many fold - in the years since.

<not included>- Who did Satan record his first career hat trick against?

This should be easy enough for you to get .

Hey... even Tommy Albelin has a site:

    http://tommyalbelin.com/

And it really has not been updated. LOL

  9. I am a big Canes fan who saw Roscoe play quite a bit. If they use him as a slot receiver, he'll do well. He has great speed. Those quick wide receiver screens should work well. Roscoe is scrappy. He's an excellent punt returner too. He can break one.

Throw some reverses in too. Utilize what he gives ya. He might be short but his speed is top notch.

I think he'll make you fans.

  10. Here's a goodie. Hot video!

    I don’t know where I’m going

But, I sure know where I’ve been

    Hanging on the promises

    In songs of yesterday

An’ I’ve made up my mind,

I ain’t wasting no more time

    But, here I go again

    Here I go again

Tho’ I keep searching for an answer,

I never seem to find what I’m looking for

    Oh lord, I pray

You give me strength to carry on,

’cos I know what it means

To walk along the lonely street of dreams

An’ here I go again on my own

Goin’ down the only road I’ve ever known,

Like a hobo* I was born to walk alone

An’ I’ve made up my mind

I ain’t wasting no more time

I’m just another heart in need of rescue,

    Waiting on love’s sweet charity

    An’ I’m gonna hold on

For the rest of my days,

’cos I know what it means

To walk along the lonely street of dreams

An’ here I go again on my own

Goin’ down the only road I’ve ever known,

Like a hobo* I was born to walk alone

An’ I’ve made up my mind

I ain’t wasting no more time

    But, here I go again,

    Here I go again,

    Here I go again,

    Here I go...

An’ I’ve made up my mind,

I ain’t wasting no more time

An’ here I go again on my own

Goin’ down the only road I’ve ever known,

Like a hobo I was born to walk alone

’cos I know what it means

To walk along the lonely street of dreams

An’ here I go again on my own

Goin’ down the only road I’ve ever known,

Like a hobo I was born to walk alone

An’ I’ve made up my mind

I ain’t wasting no more time...

    But, here I go again,

    Here I go again,

    Here I go again,

    Here I go,

    Here I go again...
