(OT)100 Greatest Guitar Players...

Great to see pro-rock get a little bit of love, since Rolling Stone hasn't covered it since 1974. Robert Fripp, Steve Howe, nice! If they were using pure technical skill, John Petrucci of Dream Theater would be #1. That guy can shred like nobody's business. On a total different style, Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues has a great style. You hear it, and you know its him. Steve Hackett, who used to be in Genesis when they were good, is the same way. -
AKARTA, Indonesia (CNN) -- Two bombs exploded in a crowded market in the eastern Indonesian town of Tentena on Saturday morning, killing at least 20 people and wounding another 53, police and government officials said. The second bomb was the strongest bomb, exploding 15 minutes after the first and just as people rushed to the scene to help victims in the traditional open air market, witnesses said. The first explosions happened at about 8 a.m (0000 GMT), a peak shopping hour on Saturday. Tentena is a largely Christian area. The town is on the island of Sulawesi, about 60 kilometers (35 miles) inland from the coastal town of Poso. A bomb blast in Poso last November killed three people and wounded seven on a minibus. In January, police discovered 60 homemade bombs stashed in an abandoned house in Poso, which is about 1,600 kilometers (1,000 miles) northeast of the Indonesia capital Jakarta. Large scale clashes have died down since 2000, but over the last year the island has seen an increase in attacks and bomb blasts. Indonesia is the world's most populous Muslim nation, but central Sulawesi has roughly equal Muslim and Christian populations.

An apparent suicide bomb detonated Friday as hundreds of Shiite Muslims recited verses from the Quran during a religious festival at a shrine near Pakistan's capital, killing at least 20 people and wounding dozens, witnesses said. Sectarian attacks by Sunni and minority Shiites are common in this Islamic country. The schism between the two sects dates back to a 7th-century dispute over who was the true heir to the Prophet Mohammed. In February, gunmen opened fire on mourners returning from a funeral near the shrine, sparking a firefight that killed three people and injured several others. That violence, however, was believed linked to a feud between two families over control of the shrine. After the blast, hundreds of Shiite pilgrims, beating their chests in mourning, clashed with baton-wielding police, who charged the crowd to clear the way for ambulances. Some of the Shiite protesters chanted, "Down with America!" Hours after the bombing, thousands of supporters of hardline Islamic groups attended previously planned rallies in Islamabad and other cities to protest the alleged desecration of the Quran at the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. YEAH, OKAY!

Dude, she has so many dirty things to drag out of her closet (I don't mean ugly dresses) that she will get hammered like no one running for President has been hammered before. Should be fun to watch the mud-sling fest though.

Frightening Stats about China
philburger1 replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Well, I have read reports that China is having a lot more problems feeding its people that its letting on. And it will only get worse. And I had a friend that was in college that was at T. square when the tanks rolled in. He said a lot more people in China are unhappy with their government then you here about. But I think in the long run, China and the US can live well together. Their economies can work with each other. Both want to make money. If the Tiawain issue gets settled in a peaceful way, that will go a long way to removing the tension. It is far and a way the biggest thorn in how the two countries get along. Long term, the biggest threat to both countries will be the spread of militant Islam. -

I agree with you on some points. But i don't think China's rise to Super Power statis will be so smooth. They have too import Huge amounts of resources keep the wheels rolling. By 2020 they will be using importing more oil than the US. And they have a billion mouths too feed -

"status quo" meaning the existing state of affairs. Yeah, great. China has said many times in the past Taiwan is "dragging its feet" when it comes to "reunification with the motherland". So keeping things the way they are now is not good enough for them China, in their minds, a legal reason to attack. In fact, I think they just passed law that said it would be A-O.K. to fire away. -

It is a just a general statement of the mindset of white america. There is a big push to hyphenate someone's identity, so instead of Americans, we have African-Americans, Asia-Americans, etc..... So if the ethic background comes first, not the fact that they are Americans, they why be offended when you are identified by it? Because it came from a white guy? I'm sorry, but the whole issue is a bit schizophrenic -
Is this America anymore?

POINT BEING THIS: (there I spelled it out for you). Last week, I saw a guy wearing a shirt that said "It's a black thing, you wouldn't understand". And later another woman had on a shirt that said, "The Black Woman" which listed reasons why black women are so great. So, we get the message , "Hey we are different, recognize that you white people!" But when we do, we are racist, of course. So when some refers to some one as "back girl" in placement text in a yearbook of an almost white school, they are called "racist", and of course, money will be demanded. If you don't see the hypocrisy with this incident, and how hyper-sensitive the back community is about race in general, then I can't help you. Later Tatter.... -

Those can poke someone's eye if they hit you just right. If the U.S. is become such an EVIL PLACE why didn't we just carpet bomb the hell out places like Fallujuah(spelling?). Instead, we drag it out weeks, so we don't chip paint on a mosque that is being used to launch mortars. In World War II, we bombed the hell out of German and Japanese cities. And that was considered a Moral War. Now we hit terrorist in the head with nerf footballs and take funny pictures of them, and we are the bad guys. Any reports on the killing of aid workers killed in the middle east? You know, those evil people from sinister groups like "Doctors without Borders"? That has been going on for 20 years. No reports? -
Right, the US army is far worse than the Islamic Terrorists. All they do is cut the head of construction workers who are there to rebuild the country. And then people in Iraq cry that the services are not being fixed quick enough. Let's not forgot the shooting of charity workers in the back of their heads. Where are the cartoons about those actions?

Right, we need to move families around in buses so all neighborhoods have the right racial balance. Social Engineering rears its ugly head yet again. -
I'd like to see the cartoons he did that show reporters and construction workers getting their heads cut off with a large knife, aid workers getting shot in back of the head, and people tossed off buildings with their arms and legs tied. And we know it happened, those darling islamo-terrorists video taped it for their viewing pleasure! And ass-face the cartoon man thinks the US Army is the gold standard in the world for torture? F**K him. And his drawing sucks too, I could do better when I was 10 years old.

OK, we agree on that point. But I doubt that Muslims in Yemen or Syria care about that. -
Yes, let's all cry for people who blow up a school bus or hijack and crash a plane. Boohoo!

Huh? Wal-Mart was found guilty of trying to sneak people in to work at low wages. If anything, big companies sell our country down the river by not enforcing the weak immagration laws we have. -

I don't recall our people marching in the streets by the thousands, killing people, and burning stuff, every time we think Christians are being wronged, like you know, like a church is blown up. Something small like that. Check this out: It is really funny, because it was from the same country that a whole US Carrier group went to help out after the big wave hit: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/ABPub/200...9/403092165.jpg Heart warming -

That is not a bad idea for the whole region really. If we aren't around to blow up, they will go back to fighting and killing each other. Iraq vs Iran, Iran vs. Afghanistan, Pakistan vs India... Ah, the good old days, where you want them all to loose. -

In the video tape of the anti-US protests that happened there two weeks after 9/11, it looked liked hundreds of thousands people. There goes that theory.
