I'm only 24 years old but I have enjoyed politics for as long as I can remember. Yesterday's State of the Union address was the best one that I ever remember watching.
I am so glad that we have a President that represents the entire United States of America not just the vocal minorities. I understand why he is so easy to hate since he is so strong in his beliefs. However, that is the reason I love W. sh-- I got thrown out of a liberal bar two weeks ago because I put all these Bush-bashing libs in their place with intelligent agruments. All they could conjure up is Bush is a moron, Bush wants oil. But that's why they say, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
I watched the Democratic response and what a joke that party is. Did those two democratic "leaders" -- and I use that word loosely -- listen to a word the President said. They had a pre-canned response that complete made no sense at time. I wish I tivo-ed it because I could have a field day with what they said.
Anyway, it seems a lot of people - including those on my side -- don't want to see Social Security as a disaster waiting to happen. But sh-- -- I have too. The system cannot support me when I retire unless it isn't changed radically for the younger generation.
p.s. Is it me or those Kerry always look like a jackass even when he just sits there.

It was great to see this wacko on again. I wish I could call in when she was on air...
"Hey Susan, I'm wondering if you still think Kerry will pull out this Presidential Election victory."
How crazy she was on Election day, extremely dillusional, somehow thinking Kerry could pass Bush who was up 115,000+ voters in Ohio with 99% reporting.
She's on the Clinton bandwagon now, calling her the "hero of the democratic party."
I hope she's right, cause that means four more years for us righties!

Obviously a sign you shouldn't mess with God and the Church. An extreme Pro-Choice politician going to speak at a Catholic school, bad things were bound to happen.

Thermostat: 59F at night (10PM-6am), 62F during the day (6am-3pm), 66F while we're at home and on weekends (3pm-10pm M-F, 9am-10pm Sa/Su). (this all during winter; I don't remember what I set it to for summer offhand)
Holy CRAP! 59 at night? 66 while at home? We keep ours at 67 from midnight to 4pm. When we get home we crank that mofo up to 71 or 72. Nice and toasty.
First recommendation, lift your lower night temperature. It cost more to get from 59 to 66 then it does to stay at 66 all day.

Quick & stupid question: What happens if you are over the cap?
-
I have listened to all your argument, however, personally, I feel LOTR (Books + Films) along with everything else Tolkien created about Middle-Earth is the best piece of art ever. But those are my feelings.
The books are second to none and that's why his Trilogy has been the second most read book in the 20th century, right after the bible. I do need to re-read them because I was really young when I first did and I don't think I remember reading the Hobbit.
As for the films, someone said they were not emotional. I must have been watching a different movie. Am I wrong or is the entire Trilogy based on the emotions of good versus the will of evil?
Everyone has their thoughts on what their greatest movie or book is, few have mentioned any specifics, but of those mentioned, none are even close to the LOTR in my opinion.
-
It's a very well done series. But I don't know if I would call it the "greatest piece of art ever" since it wasn't done from scratch. Would you call a copy of the Mona Lisa (even if it was exsquisite...I can't spell tonight) greater than the original? You have to give Tolkin his due.
That's not to rain on the film(s). They are very well done. But not the best ever captured on celluloid if you ask me.
I guess I should have said the books and the world of Middle-Earth that Tolkien created was the greatest work of art ever. The film did the trilogy justice and that rarely happens.
All and all, from the books to the films, I can't see it getting any better ... except as I mentioned, a Bills Super Bowl.
-
Well, I just watched the LOTR Trilogy over the past three days. There is much I forgot going a year in between each masterpiece. To call LOTR the greatest movie of all time does it no justice. I don't think you can ever consider it a movie. It transends that level into one that has never been reached. It is an epic that I don't think will ever be bettered. Peter Jackson did a tremendous job turn what I consider the greatest piece of literature into a film.
For those of you who never saw the epic or those who thought, ewww, that looks corny, give it a chance, you won't regret it. It will be the greatest thing you'll ever watch -- at least until the Bills win a Super Bowl.
The characters, the music, the battles, the struggles of good and evil, and so much more. I get shivers watching this movie, you feel as though you are in it.

hooo i should be upset by this , should i?!
i know lot of gay people, one of my cousin is gay, in my former job in the luxury business maybe 15% of my colleagues were gays and you know what? Those guys are very very NORMAL. Sometimes french society drive me nuts but i'm happy this is a place that is tolerant toward them.
Maybe that's why you guys threw the white flags up when the Frankfurt Police Department invaded France decades ago.

Few Points:
1. For every whacked out conservative group, there are 10 whacked out liberal groups.
2. I've always said -- and this isn't just the United States -- that we are becoming too tolerant of homosexuals. It's come to the point that it is encouraged. I don't hate gay people, I don't treat them differently from anyone else, but when it comes to my future children, I don't want them growing up in a world where they think being gay is an option and normal. Whether you believe in God or the Big Bang, Men and Women are created for each other. If it was intended any other way then there would only have been one gender.

Walt is the FIRST person in this show that has had unusual experiences before the plane crash. It is very obvious, from the bird episode, that he can conjure up stuff.
After last week, we were talking about how maybe Locke is the key to the whole show -- y'know, tabula rasa.
This week, my wife and I wondered if Walt is actually sustaining everything on the island. Did he conjure the plane crash? Did he see Locke in a wheelchair and visualize him walking? We KNOW he's connected to the Polar Bear -- twice -- each time when he doesn't know where his (actually Brian's) dog is. Hmmmm.
Thoughts?
Brian said it himself ... Walt is f-ed up and strange things happen around him. Walt got pissed that he had to study Australian birds and next thing you know, one of those Aussie birds dies.
You can tell Walt was pissed at his mom in Australia and she dies within a week.
Walt is definitely affecting a lot on the island. Was he the one that brought the plane down? I don't know. Maybe he didn't want to leave with his real dad.

has anyone seen the new bill murray flick or the new michael keaton flick? heard not so hot things about "white noise", which is disappointing because micahel keaton is one of my faves, the new bill murray one looks pretty cool and i llove bill murray. thanks for the prior thread hyping coach carter and racing stripes those 2 are alos on my list. thanks in advance.
White Noise was a great movie ... and then depending on your take about the final 10 minutes of the movie, it either was a really good movie or just an average movie. I thought it was great.

Oh, stop.
One of the biggest reasons why there is a backlash on this whole thing is MONEY. And everyone, INCLUDING the "gay lobby"....the folks pushing for gay marriage is being disingenuos (sp?!?) about it. They talk about "love". "Love", my eye. Its about the ability to get medical benefits only married couples can. Its about getting estate rights when a spouse kicks it. Its about getting a break on car insurance. And on the OTHER side of the coin, its not about "the sanctity of marriage"! HA! Its about the insurance lobby, the medical lobby and even general business lobbys pushing Bush to make that Consititutional ban happen so that they dont have to kick in the "marriage" discount to all those new "happy in love" gay couples, costing them billions in revenue.
Add THIS issue to the myriad of other issues the general public is duped about by the spin merchants.
I don't know why these gay people get pissed off when they don't get marriage benefits. I mean, they're already used to getting f***ed up the ass.

So you're criticizing conservatives for not criticizing a celebrity charity fundraiser, because they criticize celebrities when they campaign for political opponents of conservatives, and not when they sing "God Bless the USA" which you criticize.
Got it. Thanks for the useful information.
Couldn't say it better myself.

To answer you questions: when Mike Nugent gets drafted, he will be one of the three best kickers in all football. He kicks longer than any current pro kicker.
-
Dude ... he didn't even try in that second one. I know as soon as I saw his follow through. It was like he wanted to miss it. He aimed his kick as if the left goal post was the right one.

Maybe he turned them into magic beans. There are a hundred different scenarios one can imagine that would explain the vanishing WMD's. Without proof however, you are into Area 51 territory. They have been looking for proof of just what you suggest and, I beleive, come up entirely empty. Besides, these people aren't known for their restraint. If they had them, God help us, they would use them.
These bastards know they can't win a full out war with the US, so they try to win the media war. And because of news agencies at CNN, CBS, and ABC in our homeland, you and I are made to feel like we are the bad guys in the War on Terror.
Hence, if these weapons come out into the fold, we'll find them and then we'll look like the good guys to the world. That's the last thing these terrorist want, they want the world to think of us as a selfish, oil-loving country.
-
There are WMDs that Iraq had. God forbid that anyone have the commen sense to think that possibily Saddam passed them off to radicals in ... oh I don't know ... any country that borders Iraq. Saddam Hussein was a VERY smart man who manipulated the UN for a decade, the US was the only one that said enough is enough.
As for the debacle at the UN some were speaking off. I have maintained that the United States should pull from that corrupt organization. The UN is full of crooks who do no good around the world. The UN uses the US to do all its military might.
With all the genocides in Africa, where is the UN??????? Where? They do nothing but blame the US for not doing something about it. Why would it be right to go into Africa and save those people but not into Iraq and save the ones Saddam killed?
Can someone please tell me what the purpose of the UN is?

News Article
This is unbelieveable. Now our military along with military help from Australia, Japan, and malaysia have been told to get out ASAP, definately no longer then three months. I guess the radical islamic fundamentalists are going to be helping with the reconstruction of that crap hole country.
I just wish that GWB had the balls respond to Indonisia with a big ole "See Ya" and call the troops back home TOMMORROW. I say that one more day there is 24 hours too damn long.
Screw these third world fools who would bow down to the terrorists, and shamefully slap the face of those who are only there to help people in need.
This from the same country how had a guy wearing a Usama Bin Laden t-shirt on global TV while appealling for aid.
This is why neither my girlfriend nor myself will send one dime overseas to help those people. I feel bad for the innocent ones that have nothing to do with the radicals, but Indonesia can just fall into the ocean for all I care.
