  1. And maybe it'll light a fire under Reed's butt and he'll actually produce! As long as we're being optimistic.
  2. I chalk it up to preseason hype. How often do you see stories about how high draft picks are not performing well in their first minicamp? Of course, that doesn't mean he won't turn out to be good; I hope he can give the team another weapon this year.
  3. I certainly haven't seen anything from Reed in the past two years that makes me think he's particularly worthy of a slot on this team. If you look at the depth chart, you've got three locks (Moulds, Evans, Parrish) plus one who will most likely be kept because of ST (Fast Freddie). So if the Bills keep 5 WRs it comes down to Reed vs. Aiken, neither of whom has done anything all that impressive. Aiken didn't drop passes left and right like Reed last year either, though. So barring a real standout performance in camp/preseason, Reed has a good chance of being cut unless the team keeps 6 WRs, and even then someone younger may emerge and take that spot. A real shame too, I thought he was going to be a good one after his rookie year.
  4. So there are no players they're willing to call busts? What does it mean to have upside but be a liability on the field?
  5. I'm still trying to figure out exactly why it's such a great thing to have a lot of second-day picks starting for you. I mean, you could have an entire squad of undrafted FAs starting for you, that doesn't mean your team is good. Why do I have the feeling that if we did have a ton of second-day picks as starters, the argument would be that Donahoe picks busts in the early rounds?
  6. We should probably all keep that bookmarked for future use.
  7. So it's all a Major League-esque setup for a move. Gotcha! And as part of that plan, we're going to get fans into the stands! Are you actually interested in advancing any kind of serious argument here?
  8. Please everyone, note that it's not Jolley for a first-rounder straight up. This is a very misleading thread title.
  9. I could never get into Civ3, I guess I got so accustomed to the graphics and gameplay of Civ2 I could just never let go. Which of those does FreeCiv emulate more?
  10. The supply of good CBs versus good LBs is also relevant here. The best linebackers do not command the salary the best cornerbacks do, so Spikes' salary really doesn't have anything to do with Clements.
  11. But since we'd have to give up Henry for Walker I think you have to leave him out. Still not a bad deal though.
  12. Well, we'll have to agree to disagree here. Since NFL "contracts" are such jokes, I can't hold it against players when they seek to get everything they can.
  13. Joey Galloway was franchised and traded to Dallas after the 1999 season. But you're right, it doesn't happen frequently.
  14. Maybe if TD hadn't insulted them with lowball offers they'd have come back...
  15. I'd be angrier about player holdouts if the owners were forced to pay out the contracts they sign players to. Then there would be a case to be made for saying "You signed the contract, now live with it." As it stands, I see no reason to side with ownership since they feel no obligation to live up to the terms of the contract either. TO is a big talker, but you know, he backs it up. I agree with the earlier poster who said the Eagles would be left with crap at the WR position if they get rid of him.
  16. Don't you mean whoever put the finger in you? Or are you eating chili? That's sick, man, cannibalism.
  17. In fairness to VABills, he was bashing Henry when Henry-bashing wasn't cool. He didn't just jump on the bandwagon this past season.
  18. I would argue that Campbell hasn't been bad either, considering what we got him for and what we're paying him. Certainly we could use a real playmaker at the TE position but Campbell has been ok.
  19. And if you want he'll give you proof!
  20. I think his cavalier attitude regarding kickers, as Todd mentioned, has to be up there. Although maybe I should say his poor judgment, since Lindell is certainly getting paid like a good kicker.
  21. The problem is, when you make a post devoted to pointing out TD's mistakes, what do you expect to happen? I don't think most people think he has been error-free, just as most don't think he has made a ton of mistakes. A thread "bashing" TD is extremely unlikely to result in productive conversation. And here's where I think the question of a replacement becomes relevant. If you're only pointing out negatives, it implies (to me at least) that you'd like to see him gone. Fine and good, but who do we replace him with?
  22. -3 touchdowns? That's horrible!
  23. IMO it doesn't really matter if there are better GMs than TD, unless one of them gets cut loose for some reason. I think the relevant question is are there people who would take the GM job for the Bills who would do a better job than TD. I have no idea to begin how to answer that, but it's the only question that matters.
  24. If you think about it though, it probably is easier to make a connection with someone close to your own age. EM is getting a little long in the tooth (for a football player, that is).
  25. I can't really agree with this. Yes, wins are the bottom line, but unless you can look back at the decisions that were made and say they were bad decisions based on the information available at the time, I think it would be short-sighted to change for the sake of change. Then you have a new guy bringing in his new plan and you add another few years. Of course, the reality is it really doesn't matter what we think, I don't think RW will be content with two more years out of the playoffs and TD would be gone under that scenario.
