who tinkled in Jerry's cornflakes this a.m. J.P.?
MRW replied to Robert Paulson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's a non-responsive post if ever I saw one. -
I was with you until you mentioned trading with NE. Frankly I don't trust our front office to get the better of that deal. Now if there's someone we want still around at #8 or 9, I'd be all for it.

I actually meant craptastical.

Wow, I knew you were anti-JP, but just wow. Ever consider that a 22-year-old might not be ready to buy a house? Could it be that JP matured a bit in his time here and decided to try to establish more permanent roots? I gotta say, this supposed plan of JP's to win a new contract by buying a house may be one of the most convoluted schemes I've ever read about.

Hmm. Decent?

It was those tight shorts that distracted you, I bet.

All I know is the Pennington I saw last year was not the Pennington I saw 5 years ago. Not even close. As far as why the Jets are keeping him, did you see the state of QBing in the league last year? Just because Pennington might be their best option doesn't mean he's a good one.

I'm very happy to see we've moved on to running potential RBs out of town, rather than waiting for them to be drafted and with the team for a couple of years first.

Pacman getting suspended can only help Buffalo's

Brees had an excellent season after Rivers was drafted, not before. If Brees had shown himself then to be the kind of performer he is now, I don't think Rivers would've been drafted. -
Didn't they let Henry walk because he was due an insanely high roster bonus? I think they would've liked to keep him but their hands were tied by the contract they had negotiated with him. So I don't think they were necessarily ever sold on White.

Vow. This guys is giving the Bills lot of crap on the Chat...
MRW replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The sad part is it really isn't that hard to make a case that the Bills will struggle this year, but when you say that all the team did is sign "two bad linemen" your credibility is right out the door. I could see arguing that Dockery was overpaid, but a bad lineman? Come on. -
Someone I actually respect hate's buffalo's FA

Wow, you're just an attack dog, aren't you? Reread his post and see if you find anything he said that remotely justifies saying he's in "the bills suck and will never be good" land. -
The Bills are assigning lockers to their team leaders.

Your first question doesn't have anything to do with your second question. The players on the team sure know who Kelsay is, and that's really all that matters. -
Interesting Read on Polian's Moves/NonMoves This Offseason
MRW replied to Nanker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's great and all, but there's a bit of a difference between starting with a team that just won the Super Bowl and a team that just went 7-9. -

I think the fact that he was named the starter for this year at the end of last year is a sure indication of what the coaches think of his future. A WR pick would surprise me; a QB pick would make me seriously question the front office's judgement. If they're in a position where a QB is far and away the best player available, I would say it's time to consider a trade down.

NFL Live just murdered the Bills offseason moves
MRW replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I will tell you this, put Nate on the Saints roster and they almost certainly would have been playing in the Super Bowl. Look, argue that Nate wasn't worth the contract he got and I can respect that. But don't try to convince me that's he's not a great player. He played lights out last year. -
For those Bills fans preaching doom and gloom
MRW replied to Cornerville's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The issue (to me at least) is not that the Bills cannot replace the production of those guys (except Clements, I think he was much better and more important to the D than many are giving him credit for). The problem is that now the team is in the position of having to fill all those holes at once, in addition to many of the question marks they had heading into the offseason (DT, OL - good strides made but IMO still could use some help, 2nd WR). It seems to me we're leaning awfully heavily on the draft patching up our weak spots, and even on my most wildly optimistic days I don't see it happening. -
If Peterson and Lynch fall to us at 12
MRW replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Have we stumbled upon Marv & crew's hidden agenda for all the cuts and trades? -
Well, at first it seemed like you had a valid point about the team unnecessarily creating holes, but then you went on to call the QB into question when it should be pretty obvious we're not looking to replace the starter, and then you criticized the team for actually trying to address the biggest weakness it has had for 10+ years, so... No, I can't make any sense out of it.
-
Oh, I jumped off on a tangent from what you said, sorry. It wasn't really intended as a direct response... I do agree that's it not over yet, and I do think the front office has a plan and getting rid of Fletcher-Baker and McGahee was part of it (losing Clements was an unfortunate necessity because of last year's decisions). It's reasonable to say that "who's the off-season winner" is a stupid question at this point, but I don't think a good argument can be made that the Bills aren't net losers right now. So yeah, I kinda hijacked your point, sorry about that.
-
The problem I have with this analysis is we have gone from several "knowns" to several "unknowns". The scenario you lay out of getting replacements sounds good, but we have an awful lot of holes to fill now, and no guarantee that the replacements we get will be comparable in quality. I would also say, until proven otherwise, we are a lot weaker at corner. I don't know how anyone could feel confident in Youboty stepping up into a starting role given his (non-)performance last year.
-
OK, I can't really argue with that. Who would you say are the "winners" of the off-season so far (granted it's a stupid question at this point of the year)? Denver maybe? I'm trying to think of other teams that have made major moves without many losses.
