  1. There's a number of things I want to see this year. 1 - The most obvious is an improved pass rush. Ours was awful last year. 2 - Less big plays from opposing RB's. Too many 3rd and longs without a stop. 3 - Less interceptions from Fitzpatrick. 20's is only acceptable if he's throwing 40's for TD's. 4 - Less "playing to the level of the opposition". We need to crush bad teams and prove a point. 5 - Opening weekend win against the Jets on the road. Road games have been this team's kryptonite.
  2. The rule has passed. However, it doesn't go into effect until 2013. That to me is what makes this Ballard move all the more puzzling.
  3. 10 of their games (BAL, BUFX2, DEN, NYJX2, IND, MIAX2, HOU) are against teams that HAVE beaten them just in the last 4 years. "seem to lose to anyone else" is just an incorrect perception and not based on reality.
  4. One more thing. Harvin doesn't just play the slot. He plays the edge as a deep threat and is also a key element of special teams as a kick returner. They also use him as a rusher (345 yards last year). He's nothing like a Wes Welker.
  5. You're missing the key point here, and that is what Harvin wants. You can tell me how you think it's going to work, but it won't change Harvin's perception or how his agent approaches it. Oh, and I don't have to pretend anything. The Bills right now are working 12 WR's in camp. They're not actively looking to trade for anyone or looking towards free agency to pick up a player. Pure pipe dream on your part.
  6. And what did Lynch or Henry do in the locker room? Nothing. Harvin has choked out a coach, refused to participate in practice because he didn't think he needed it, etc. He was a locker room cancer. Sure Lynch and Henry had their issues off the field, but it had nothing to do with football and no impact on the locker room really.
  7. The only problem with your argument is that he HAS BEEN the defacto #1 WR in Minnesota for the last two years. Regardless, you can wish for Harvin all day and it still isn't going to make it happen. The Bills currently have 12 WR's on their depth chart and in practice. I think they're pretty much done with free agency at this point.
  8. Andre Reed was a 4th round pick out of Kutztown, Pennsylvania. Does he qualify? The Bills have gotten later round picks that have turned out to be very good players, although not HOF material. Don Beebe was a 3rd rounder. Peerless Price I believe was a 2nd rounder and very productive for the Bills. There's no reason not to be optimistic about Easley. Easley went to Connecticut. Not an obscure school at all.
  9. Agree. Even if you ignore his present situation, you have to consider all of his drama in the past. He makes Marshawn Lynch and Travis Henry look like choir boys.
  10. So you would propose bringing in a player that you'll have to pay more than your current #1 WR, who has stated to the media in Minnesota that it's more than just his contract that has to change (i.e. just throw me the ball). Freddy Jackson didn't whine to the media at all. He waited patiently. Stevie Johnson didn't whine to the media. Harvin is so stupid that he won't even spell out what all of his issues are. "I don't get into specifics...just overall haven't been happy". There is no way in hell that I pay a guy #1 WR money (which he absolutely expects to get) when he's so immature that he can't even communicate his issues in a professional manner. As far as the Umenyiora situation last year, it's different. He didn't change teams or change the dynamic that already existed in NY. He simply re-signed with his same team. Harvin coming to Buffalo would be a huge mistake.
  11. The key to Buffalo's success this year is the first seven games of the season prior to the bye week. They have 4 road games against the Jets, Browns, 49ers, and Cardinals. Historically, they have struggled on the road. While I would like to see them win 2 or even 3 of those games, they may only win one. Then we have our home games against the Chiefs, Patriots and Titans. Same story here. I would like to see them win 2 but could also see them just winning one. Being a realist, they could start the first 7 games at 3-4. After the bye, they get 4 more road games against the Texans, Patriots, Colts and Dolphins. That should be two wins or possibly 3 if Williams sees the game as a revenge game. They have a soft home schedule against the Dolphins, Jaguars, Rams, Seahawks, and Jets. I like them to go 4 out of 5 in that late season stretch. If I'm super conservative, I can get to 10 wins. If you really assume that the defense is as good as everyone thinks it is, why couldn't they win the division?
  12. I don't want him. How many Bills players this year cried like a little girl because they didn't get what they wanted right away? For all the talk of how good this off season was and how little locker room drama the Bills had, why add a cancerous little growth like Harvin? It makes no sense to me.
  13. Interesting caricature art, although I prefer the classic logos.
  14. I'm with you there 100%. I just bought the Sunday Ticket again for the first time in 5 years. Being in Chicago, I don't otherwise get too many opportunities to watch the games. At $12.50 per game, I can easily justify the expense!
  15. Good post and very good point. I can't help but to be extremely grateful that the days of the Travis Henry/Marshawn Lynch off field drama are over. With that said and the current state of affairs being what they are, we should not forget that our Superbowl Bills of the 90's had their issues too. Several times, Bruce Smith was caught driving drunk. At the end of the day, winning silences the off the field issues and we care a lot less about them.
  16. Regardless of the "list", they are capable of doing exactly that. Wanny is a defensive coach. That's his specialty. I think when all is said and done that it comes down to the health of the team. They're not deep defensively, so losing any of the key guys would be a big blow to that possibility of improvement. Still, for the first time in awhile, I'm really excited about the defense.
  17. I hope they sign both of them. I do think both positions are important, but would rather see Fitzpatrick have a little more time to throw the ball this year than he did last. Some additional food for thought folks. Right now they are putting Kelsay in with the first string guys. He's counting about $5 million against the cap this year. I've heard some rumblings from some folks back in WNY (I'm in Chicago) that there's rumor that they're doing that simply to save face. There's a suggestion that Kelsay could actually be cut before training camp is over and that it would free up that $5 million cap space to go elsewhere. That coupled with the $7 million or so they still have would be more than ample to ink both Levitre and Byrd for the future. Just trying to be hopeful here!
  18. Although I want it to be the Bills, I'm not sure yet. I went with the Falcons. Ryan has matured and they have all the weapons they need on offense to do it. The key for them is the improvement of their defense.
  19. He left for the very reason that I thought a lot of Bills players would be leaving. The current management and coaching staff realized that just tweaking the team here or there would not result in anything more than minor changes in the win/loss record and likely no deep run in the playoffs, if one at all. This team needed to be turned inside out, save for the couple of exceptional players on the team and rebuilt with new. That would be the only plan that could change team chemistry and attitude about winning. This team has been gutted and rightfully so. They were extremely young last season. Out of the 55 players on the roster, 17 were rookies. They got even younger this year. When all is said and done, I'm happy that Posluzny is gone. He was prone to injury and was dragged for extra yardage on many of his tackles. I'm looking forward to what the new guys show us.
  20. Great post up until then. I would challenge those remarks! LOL.
  21. Might as well square them off in Madden and let the computer play through the game. These simulations are garbage and not even worth reading.
  22. Kind of my view as well. I was thinking splits to start the season and then heating up when the schedule gets soft a little before mid season. Road games are most important as the Bills of the past really struggled on the road. This year will be much different than last.
  23. He works for ESPN, but I'm sure there's a conspiracy theory for that too. Maybe his brain was hijacked by aliens that are huge fans of the Buffalo Bills and those same aliens are being forced by Bills fans to have positive comments about the team. That was fun...
  24. mrags, I'm going to take Jay Cutler's opinion about his own offensive line over yours. You sound like (not saying you are) every homer fan of a team that comes out and thinks their team is suddenly a world beater when they've done nothing to prove it. How have the Bears fixed their offensive line? The McClellin pick in round 1 was a head scratcher for pretty much every fan out there. Getting Marshall and drafting Jeffry were good moves no doubt, as they give options for Cutler that he didn't have before. However, if he doesn't have time to throw, it will matter little. Find a team in the NFL that's had the #32 overall defense for two years in a row. I think the Packers offense will probably involve more of a running game next year, but they're still a pass first team. That's why the Patriots have had a good offense pretty much every year since Brady took over. Chicago is clearly the #3 team in the division, and I'm a Chicagoan to boot.
