  1. Young is a mental midget. Not buying that. Be sick of it if you want to. Lee is a hell of a QB coach and will help him improve from where he was.
  2. As usual, Michael Vick sounds like a complete moron. His team probably isn't even good enough to get past the Giants and Cowboys in that division. Deficiency in QB play will sack them.
  3. Part of it is mechanics and part of it is decision making. At the end of the day, he was trying to make throws that his mechanics didn't allow him to make. As Lee explained it in an interview, you generally don't want a QB for example rolling right and throwing across his body left. Generally, most QB's are too "closed" and it results in mistakes. However, by modifying mechanics and opening up where you plant your feet when you're making the throw, you can actually make that play. Look at Fitzpatrick's mistakes last year and you can see plenty of issues like that. Throwing across his body; being in a bad position to try to make a throw; etc. Let's keep in mind too that 17 of his interceptions came in the 10 games AFTER he cracked his ribs. I don't know if you've ever cracked a rib, but honestly I'm not sure how he was even getting it in the air.
  4. They're just mentioning free agency moves. The Patriots did exactly what they should have done in the draft in taking defensive players with the first 6 picks in the draft. 3 are likely to be day 1 starters with the possibility of 4. Their defense was one of the worst in the NFL last year, so I get the grade. None the less, I agree with you about free agency. Not too much exciting.
  5. According to Lee, his mechanics are a flaw. For his career thus far, his mechanics have been bad. Post all the numbers you want, but it doesn't change the facts.
  6. That was my favorite game last year. Year after year, game after game, watching my team lose to those guys is painful.
  7. It's easy to look at the success of the team last year and assume it was all on Fitzpatrick. The fact of the matter is that it simply wasn't. The defense was absolutely horrendous, particularly on third and long. They simply couldn't stop anyone. This leaves the play calling coming from the sidelines to be aggressive to stay in games, and the resultant turnovers. Let's look at some facts here: Fitzpatrick was the worst starter in the NFL in INT's, and the 5th worst starter in the NFL in INT percentage per pass attempt. If these turnovers are a result of poor mechanics and he gets them under control, then you can look at all the other metrics that support the notion that he could be in that upper echelon of quarterbacks. I would further define "upper echelon" as top-8. Here's why: Despite being injured from essentially game 6 on, here's where he ended the season among starters: TD's - 10th Passing Yards - 11th Completion % - 9th Sacks - 1st The real question that people aren't asking is an important one though. If we assume that the defense is vastly improved from last year, will the Bills still be running that same type of aggressive offense that they ran last year? While we won't know until that very first game against the Jets, I would say that I don't think so. If the Bills can get up on their opponents by 7-10 points, I think you'll see a lot more ball control offense with Jackson and Spiller and a lot more short to intermediate pass routes. At the end of the day, I would say we've seen improvement in 3 straight years from him and I have no reason to believe that Lee won't help him to improve further. The only question is by how much.
  8. The part that simply isn't true is the friendliness of the people. I lived in WNY for the first 18 years of my life and that's just BS. If you can't find things to do, that's on you. There's plenty of outdoor activities in WNY and they're available year round. If he's looking for ghetto thug clubs to hang out in, he's probably not going to find it. The other stuff doesn't really chap me very much. They didn't make the playoffs? Sure. If I could ask Reed, I would question how much he helped make that happen. The 36th pick in the draft and never caught more than 2 TD's in a season. Thanks Josh Reed for being absolutely nothing but a mediocre player and a dick to boot.
  9. The blackout rules are an antiquated notion. It's easy to say "buy a ticket" but that isn't reality for everyone. When I pay for the Sunday Ticket and live in Chicago, I should be able to see the game no matter what. Unfortunately that is not necessarily the case. If the game is blacked out locally, it's blacked out for me too. Given that total ticket revenue for the NFL represents only about 1% of all revenue, it's myopic to suggest that it should drive the fan base. With average ticket prices of nearly $60, do they really expect a family of four to be fans to attend ONE game and pay $240 + parking + concessions. While I would go to a game if I were in town, I mostly am not. At some point, blacking out games for me living in Chicago when I'm putting $299 up for the ticket is just asinine. I'll just stop buying the ticket, stop buying the merchandise and stop being a fan.
  10. Not a problem. There's too many people with "jump to conclusions" mats.
  11. For me, it would have to be Levy, Kelly, Smith, and Reed. I'd have to go with guys from the 4 straight superbowls.
  12. At the end of the day, there were a lot of 3rd rounders that were later in signing to their respective teams. It has everything to do with how the CBA defined how rookies could be compensated. Early and later picks were much more straight forward. Has nothing to do with this kid's character what so ever.
  13. I would go with Kyle Williams. To me, he's the cog in the wheel that doesn't allow opposing teams to be able to effectively double other guys. While Dareus was the sack leader last year, 5.5 sacks isn't a lot. He was double teamed quite a bit with Kyle out last year. Anderson has wheels, but opposing teams won't double team him hardly at all. On Mario, I think we'll see a lot of running back and tight end chips helping out the right tackle. I think eventually Dareus will become the most important player on this defense and he'll be better than Kyle Williams even is. Regardless of the arguments, if the front four can stay healthy, we're going to have fun watching them play this year, and hopefully keeping Tom Brady on his butt for most games.
  14. Drug problems and an inability to commit to a program. I would take a big pass on him. Plus what others have also said. There's a DOZEN wide receivers on the depth chart right now. That just seems excessive to me.
  15. Everyone needs to keep in mind that he can't be cheap any more. The new CBA specifically REQUIRES him to spend at least 95% of the cap. Whatever he doesn't spend he has to make up the difference and pay as a penalty back to an NFL pool. So there's nothing to really say here. I'm not sure where they are right now in terms of the 95%, but if we're below it, odds are we do sign some more free agents. Regardless, they've already met my expectations for this off season. Williams + Anderson and now all the rookies signed. Good signs!
  16. I'm not sure I care a lot about our depth. For once, I want to see a season where we don't have an early season ending injury to a key leader and player on either side of the ball. Jarron Gilbert? I'm not sure I care a lot.
  17. This is absolutely on point. Tell me that in the few games where the Bills actually used a TE that Scott Chandler didn't look all world. The reality is they don't run the scheme that emphasizes the position. They haven't since the 1990's Jim Kelly teams. Comparing what Rob Gronkowski has done for the Patriots to the Bills is apples & oranges.
  18. Not sure if this qualifies, but I can still remember the lyrics to the 12-days of Christmas for the "Chuck Knox Super Bowl Team".
  19. I'm not sure who this thread is even about. Obviously have a couple of Patriot nut-huggers posting here none the less. In terms of Troup, the ongoing question is his health. Does anyone think that the Dareus pick would have happened, had Troup lived up to the potential that was expected? Of course not. For those same nut huggers, please tell me how the following draft picks have panned out as first rounders for the Cheatriots: Lawrence Maroney, Brandon Meriweather, Nate Solder, Devon McCourty. Add to that your two latest first round TE picks Daniel Graham, and Ben Watson. It's easy to pick out one star in Gronkowski and ignore that plethora of average players.
  20. You are correct. Most of those seasons, the Bills were either 1-3 or 0-4 and the starters saw very little time.
  21. Like most quotes that the media uses, they're taken out of context. I thought the interview was fantastic as well and not homer at all. If you don't believe you can win before the season even starts, they you probably won't. If you concede the wild card is the best you can do, then that will probably be the best you will do. That's psychology 101 kids.
  22. Eli didn't personally beat anyone. The Giants beat teams. Wins and losses for a quarterback is about as low brow of an argument that you can make.
  23. They're challenging it again because of the "evidence" presented. I put that in quotes, because like you I think it's pretty loose. Of all the fields, I actually work in litigation consulting (corporate tort), so I have a decent understanding of what's needed from that perspective. So the real issue that I'm raising you see is that none of the evidence provided suggests any player committed an infraction after the new CBA was signed in 2011, under which Goodell is claiming he has the authority to issue punishment. As a result, if the old CBA actually applies, then the System Arbiter has the sole authority of exacting punishment to players for on the field infractions and not Goodell. If neither CBA applies, then Goodell has stepped way beyond his authority altogether. Honestly, I think he has overstepped his authority as far as the players are concerned, and that this will go away for the players. For the coaches, not so much so. Anyway, good string and will chat another time. Time to get out of the office and go home!
  24. The existence or lack of evidence isn't going to be the biggest problem in this case. The issue will come down to whether Goodell actually has the authority to issue punishment to players for what technically is an on the field infraction (the act of purposely trying to hurt some one). Furthermore, the new CBA dated August 4, 2011 has a release clause in it for prior actions by players. Goodell has handed out suspensions based on alleged infractions prior to that. Essentially, he believes that somehow he has authority that is beyond the CBA. I think Goodell has done the right things for the most part in the past. However in this case, I can't see how he can be the judge, jury, and executioner all at the same time. It just doesn't make sense.
  25. Anderson will be very effective if Kyle and Dareus can stay healthy. I honestly think that you could see Anderson challenge Mario to be the sack leader this year.
