  1. You win the prize.....which is getting to watch 2nd down and 10 as boobie runs ahead for 2 more before getting stopped. 3rd and long.
  2. This guy WAS a stud. He's on the wrong side of 30 and has a LOT of mileage. The only way you sign him is if he doesn't command a big payday. Too many important pieces on the Bills team that must be re-signed.
  3. You liked some of what you saw? I saw this: LOSS that should have been a win. You may not have called it a moral victory, but you're essentially saying it without saying it. As for Steelers fans, they can be happy that they have one more win than the Bills, AND the tiebreaker in the playoff hunt. They can actually make the playoffs with a 9-7 record. Buffalo cannot.
  4. Come on Promo. I love your optimism for the most part, but are you really trying to dish out the "I love some things I saw" nonsense? The Bills should have won this game, period. Pretty much like they should have won against Houston. Far too often, we see this same nonsense over and over again. With a win this week instead of a loss, they would be in the wild card position. Instead, they now sit behind Kansas City, Cincinnati, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, AND San Diego in the playoff hunt. Out of 16 teams, they're the 10th seed right now. Call me pessimistic, but a loss against Miami on a short week and this team is done for the year AGAIN after only 10 games. Even if you assume that they beat Miami on the road, the Jets and Cleveland at home AND Oakland on the road, that would give them only 9 wins. Now you are telling me that they need to beat either Denver or New England on the road or Green Bay at home for 10 wins. I'm sorry, but not buying it. In typical Bills fashion, they'll find a way to lose on they should win and maybe win one that they should not. I just hope that come December, we're not sitting here clapping our hands at a moral victory of 9 wins and 7 losses, watching the playoffs from our collective sofas, when we KNOW they should be playing in the post season.
  5. The pivotal game is this weekend against the Chiefs. Coming off of a bye, we should learn exactly what type of team we have going forward. The Chiefs defense lives and dies with Justin Houston getting pressure on opposing quarterbacks and disrupting opposing rushing attacks. The Bills simply cannot do what they did against the Patriots and not throw to wherever the better defenders happen to be. They need to take their shots down field, getting the ball to Sammy and Robert and let them make plays. If the defense doesn't get to Alex Smith with their front 4 (which they absolutely should), Sunday will be a long day.
  6. He's been solid when he doesn't commit bone headed turnovers. If he can get his fumbles under control, I'm optimistic that this can be a playoff year for this team. Finally!
  7. These teams are very similar. KC gets after the quarterback just as well as buffalo and has tallied 24 sacks on the year to Buffalo's 28. They will need to keep Justin Houston off Orton, as he leads the team with 10 of those sacks. For Buffalo, it's the same recipe they had versus the Jets. Pressure up the middle with Williams and Dareus. Where I do not want to see them get beat is by Jamaal Charles. Alex Smith is efficient, but I think that's because the run game takes a lot of pressure off of him. Orton has been pretty good, but he's taking sacks on an alarming 10.8% of passing plays. That is ahead of the pace of David Carr when he was getting killed in Houston back in the day. Bills gotta keep him upright.
  8. This is correct. Bradham's penalty happened first and it was a phantom call. Later, they called one on Vick for who knows what. Neither should have been called.
  9. I know that the OP was kidding around and I get it. So the team is 5-3. But for their blow out wins over Miami and the Jets, their other 3 wins are by a combined total of 7 points. While it is great that we are winning some games close, which we were not doing before, we will not have that luxury should we make the playoffs. Two regular season wins with just 17 points on the board will not translate to playoff victory when we are looking at Denver, New England, Indy, or even the Chargers again. They're more likely to get their points that we are to stop them. What that will mean is that we'll have to earn it. Hanging 43 on the Jets was nice. Let's not forget though that 20 of those 43 points were earned on 4 of the 6 turnovers that the defense generated. Eliminate the turnovers and what do you have left? 23-23 scoreboard and 6 more opportunities for the Jets to score.
  10. Then post a source that has game by game then. What I posted is for the season. I suspect based on watching the last 4 games that the data is not much different. A little better or a little worse doesn't really change anything.
  11. True. Based on the stats, the Bills rank 29th in the NFL in 3-and-outs. It is and should be a concerning statistic. If this team is able to make the playoffs, they will not go very far unless the offense gets more efficient. http://www.sportingc...ercentage/2014/
  12. The bolded part of your statements is what's most concerning to me. Forget about the fact that two of those three and outs were after turnovers by the Jets at mid field, resulting in punts. I discount that a little bit because they did get points off of the other 4 turnovers. None the less, when I think about the flow of the game yesterday, it was clearly dictated by the Bills defense, while the offense kept letting the Jets back into the game. We start off going up 14-0 and then let the Jets back in the game scoring a TD. We respond to that TD with 10 unanswered points and then stall again, letting the Jets score 10. Then we real off 19 in a row and it's pretty well ballgame. I like that the offense showed it could score points. I just don't like that it took letting the other team back in the game twice for them to do so.
  13. "Starting" to look iffy? You are wearing rose colored glasses if you think a team sitting at 1-7 after losing 7 games in a row is in any position to make the playoffs. To say that Geno looks bad like EJ as well is just a moronic statement. Geno looks bad like Ryan Leaf. Geno looks bad like Jamarcus Russell. In terms of Vick, he was a little productive on the ground, but STILL only completed 50% of his passes. Add three turnovers to that and Geno looks bad like Michael Vick. At the end of the day, Geno Smith is probably the worst starting quarterback in the NFL, closely followed by Micahel Vick at this point. EJ is average statistically and Orton has played a little above average, but not much. As a team, the Jets are probably only better than the Jaguars and Buccaneers at this point. When they fall to both the Chiefs and Steelers in the next two weeks, you'll be able to safely say that you're looking forward to next year as they're sitting at 1-9. In the mean time, keep banging your head against the wall. You'll either wake up or finally kill off those couple of brain cells that are remaining that enable you to almost form sentences (albeit not very smart ones).
  14. His career has Reggie Bush written all over it. The team that drafted him had no idea how to use him effectively. Once he leaves and is used in the capacity that he SHOULD be used, he's extremely productive.
  15. Why is it that fans almost always feel compelled to make an argument that the Bills should pickup or trade for some loser that gets cut or demoted from another team? I don't need to look at much to answer the question on Cousins. 58.97% completion percentage. More interceptions than touchdowns thrown, and that doesn't even count all of his fumbles. I was skeptical of Orton replacing EJ, but I will say that he has looked much better than I thought he would. 68.5% completion percentage and a QB rating of 92.5. I'll take that all day over Kirk Cousins.
  16. You have no way of knowing what the ref could have seen from his vantage point on the field. It wasn't a "ghost" call. The ref made the call BEFORE it turned into a scrum. Nothing to be reviewed or challenged, and in this case not helping decide the outcome of the game. Simply made an accurate call.
  17. I'll start off by conceding that this has been McKelvin's best year as a professional. He's got 4 picks in 6 games, which is already 2 more than he had in any of the previous years of his career. That said, he's not a shutdown corner. Even with playing his best football this year, he's not the guy that we want to see lining up against our opponents best. He's clearly not 11th overall pick value, even playing at the level he is this year.
  18. Wow. Where to start? WTF is a translative property? Is that like when you say something in Spanish and someone hears you in English? OK, knowing that the OP was looking for TRANSITIVE property, we'll just start with common opponents. The Jests get Chicago and Detroit at home and San Diego and New England on the road. Buffalo gets Chicago and Detroit on the road and San Diego and New England in Buffalo. You can take San Diego and New England out of the comparison, because both teams are 0-2 versus that common opponent. Saying that a team "almost" won a game is like saying the Germans almost won WWII. Close is irrelevant if you can't finish games. That just leaves the Bears and Lions. Bills went on the road and beat both teams. Jets couldn't pull a single win at home. They do have 9 games left in this season, but only 1 of those games is against a team below 0.500 (just like them) in the Titans. This is going to end up a really bad season for Rex Ryan and in all likelihood the Geno Smith experiment is over. At the end of the day, the Bills defense has been better at getting to opposing quarterbacks, and better at generating turnovers. To boot, I'll take Kyle Orton's 68.5% completion percentage to Geno Smith's 57.3% all day.
  19. The Jets always seem to give the Bills trouble. I feel like for whatever reason, that even with Mark Sanchez at QB, that they made him look like Joe Montana. I hope that is not the case here with Geno Smith, but the fear is legitimate. On paper, the Bills have advantages in a couple of areas. First, they have gotten to opposing QB's more than the Jets (24 to 20). They take the ball away quite a bit more. 8 INT's and 4 FF's compared to just 1 INT and 3 FF's for the Jets. Their loss to the Patriots has to be a tough one to swallow. It was the first time they didn't turn the ball over, after averaging 2 turnovers a game. That's where the alarms go off for me though. In the 3 games with Orton under center, the Bills have had 8 turnovers. If we see that same level of carelessness next Sunday, I believe they lose the game. However, I think that if they tie or do better in the turnover battle, that they should win the game easily.
  20. The offense needs to stop turning the ball over. So the team is 2-2 in the last 4 games. 10 Turnovers during that timeframe or 2.5 per game. That just can't continue. They're lucky to be 2-2. Even yesterday, the Vikings had a 4-2 turnover advantage. NFL teams only win games going -2 about 5% of the time. The offense with EJ at the helm did not turn the ball over as much. I do give Orton credit for doing one thing that EJ has not yet shown he can do. He throws the ball where the receiver is going instead of waiting for him to get there. There is no way EJ makes the throw to win the game yesterday.
  21. I marvel at the Monday morning, even Sunday night, commentary. Kyle Orton is the answer....EJ still sucks....blah blah blah. I have a simple reality check for anyone that wants to cash one. The Bills defense is what's winning them games. The offense has pretty much been a bystander to impressive defensive performances. Let's check the last 4 weeks. 17, 17, 22, and 17 points scored by the offense. Not exactly lighting the world on fire. Two wins scoring 17 on both occasions and two losses scoring 17 and 22.
  22. The biggest problem on the field yesterday was the entire offense. I.e. Hackett is the problem. He's hopelessly incapable of making an adjustment based on what opposing defenses are doing. 8-9 guys in the box? Yeh, my offense says run the ball anyway on first down, so that's what we're going to do. Having success throwing to the middle of the field? OK, I see that success and raise you a delayed handoff from the shotgun position or a screen pass. I'm N.Hackett bitches. I'll do what I want.
  23. I disagree with Sully here. I'm sorry, but the defense WAS that good in the first half. The problem was that the offense kept giving the ball back to the Patriots where they had to do very little to put points on the board. THREE turnovers by this pitiful offense and you get field goal, field goal, touchdown and a 13-7 lead by the Patriots at the half. The Bills were fortunate to even be in the game at that point. To the real problem of this team, we simply have to look at Hackett and if you want him to share blame, Marrone. The offensive play calling is a joke. The formula looks something like this: First down: run or pass short. Second down: run or pass short. Third down: if it's 5+ yards take a shot downfield. If it's less run or pass short. Look familiar to anyone? This has been our every week, every game playbook. We don't modify it when our opponent has a weakness we can exploit (see Houston and their run defense). We don't modify it when we're having success (see New England and passes to the middle of the field). The Bills beat themselves on Sunday.
  24. A couple of things for me. First, roughing on Brady was justified as a call. Dumb penalty. Getting that out of the way, the early 15 yarder on Hughes was a head scratcher. He was helping up his OWN MAN. Pats receivers were pushing off all day. No calls. Yet when Bills receivers did it, FLAG. F-OFF NFL. I'm so tired of NFL nut hugging, it's not funny. Brady did make passes that should have been picked. Shame on our defenders. Gilmore, McKelvin. Duke Williams....wtf are you doing? Shoving a receiver OB without even looking back??? WTF? My passion runs deep for this team, but I'm tired. Hackett clearly can't hack it.
  25. My thoughts are simple. The offensive game planning was horrid. Sitting next to the lady next to me, I was calling pass short/screen; pass middle; and pass long almost 90% of the time. Does anyone think I'm so much smarter than the Pats? No. Moving on, the execution was horrid too. you have TWO.FIVE seconds to pass the GOD DAMN football. if you wait to FOUR, you get sacked. Orton looked pretty much every bit like EJ, except he actually made a few throws and took some shots. None the less, that's not saying a lot. A "L" is the "L" no matter how you lices
