  1. Mario and/or Marcel in every game I watched. I only watched about a dozen games, but it was mind numbing. Honestly guys, do some research on the zone blitz. That's essentially what Rex was trying to do. When less than half of the sacks that they did get came from their defensive line, it paints a good picture. To be fair to Weo here, it was rare when you consider it in the context of the number of plays they ran on defense. So if you run 50-55 plays on defense in a game and they do it once, it's not that much. That's really not the point though. If one out of 50 run plays, they asked Dan Carpenter to do it, would we be happy? Better yet, if Roman were telling us that Carpenter should be doing it because he fits the scheme better? Absurd example, but that's what was happening. I don't recall Mario or Marcel recording any passes defensed this season.
  2. He's crying tears of salty goodness. LOL.
  3. Here's the problem I have with this logic. Carr waited to throw the ball a LOT. Rodgers doesn't. Rodgers throws the ball whether there's coverage or not in under 2 seconds. Brady does the same, even better. It doesn't matter what his offensive line is doing. It's almost irrelevant. It's not that they've always had the best offensive lines, so much as them making their own situation. Peyton Manning has been in the NFL for 18 years and it's never mattered what his offensive line looked like. On the flip side of that argument, it doesn't matter how good an offensive line is either. If you're waiting 3-4 seconds to throw the ball in the NFL and you're a statue (which Carr was), you're going to get hammered a LOT. It's all conjecture and speculation I know, but I don't see any scenario where Carr would have been anything. Same with robo-sack.
  4. Well they did copyright it. So you telling me their "feelings" is contradictory to reality. Now they're saying they still own the copyright (which they do), and warning this individual not to violate the copyright. See how this works? The free market is irrelevant when someone has legal rights to property, whether physical or intellectual. If I wanted to manufacture atorvastatin in my garage, I could not. It's irrelevant that I could make it cheaper than Pfizer. There is no market.
  5. This article lost me right away at "he's gonna use a guy to his strengths". I flash back to pretty much every game last season and watching Mario Williams and/or Marcel Dareus dropping back into pass coverage. "Strengths" he says? LMFAO. Sure. I also have a bridge with some trolls living under it that I want to sell someone. Takers?
  6. I always appreciate dialogue over everything else, so thanks as well! Was Carr's NFL career really killed by circumstance? He had 11 years and 4 NFL teams to work out his issues. Houston was terrible and he was essentially the starting face of the franchise, which I'm sure didn't help. But he never really showed me anything. To me, he's essentially an upgrade from Rob Johnson, which says a lot of how horrible Johnson was.
  7. This article is overblown to say the least. $1 million for an old tape that isn't even complete? Who decides the value? Also, how is this different than all of the clips the NFL already has of the game. They cobbled together what they had already and have replayed it on NFL network. Seems to me to just be another example of an attempt at a cash grab. One other thing for the morons out there without any knowledge of finance. The NFL as an entity is for the most part cash neutral. The $9 billion revenue monster is almost 100% distributed to the teams after expenses. $1 million for an old VHS tape is probably more than any revenue that may ever be generated from having that footage.
  8. I don't doubt those points. None the less, you can put JaMarcus Russell in New England behind then Drew Bledsoe, and he won't suddenly morph into Tom Brady. Robo-sack Rob Johnson's 14.8% sack rate doesn't change all that much because he's behind the best line in the NFL. There's numerous examples, where a chunk is just a chunk. I think in the NFL that it's a lot closer than people want to recognize, in terms of the chances that players make for themselves versus those that are given/granted. As for Rodgers and his last 7 games, would you ever turn down 11 touchdowns to only 5 interceptions? Granted, the rest of the season was 20-3, but I'll take 11/5 ratio all day, every day. In fact, I'll say that 11/5 for any quarterback considered "spooked" is pretty much hall of fame. At the end of the day, I'm not buying off on such a dramatic difference in "trajectory" of a career as you are. NBD, just a difference in opinion.
  9. Agree 100%. I guess the question of whether a NT may already be on the Bills roster should be asked as well. At the end of the day, I don't see Corbin Bryant or Stefan Charles being NT material. Same problem that I have with Kyle Williams.
  10. It comes down to the fact that David Carr didn't know how to get his throws out early and often where Rodgers does. I don't care if you flip flop their situations. Carr was a hot steaming pile of garbage as a QB.
  11. This is an excellent question. I would like to not only know who, but at what price? Damon Harrison is one of the best in the game playing true NT and he's probably going to be getting $5-$6 million a year either with the Jets or someone else. There are LOTS of guys that are becoming RFA or UFA this year that are on the wrong side of 30 and/or have significant injury issues. B.J. Raji, Ian Williams, Terrence Knighton are a few names I think of. Too funny. Saw your post right after my own. LOL.
  12. That's not the point that was made here. The point is that you don't give a $96 million contract to a defensive tackle that you're only asking to be a two gap player. So you would have me believe that you think that the Bills are going to stand pat in the draft or prioritize linebacker over defensive line? I'm not buying it. Even if you can jump to the conclusion that the highest rated ILB (Raglond) and/or OLB (Lee) are available in the first round and the Bills do take one of the two, I would bet a testicle that they swing around and take a true NT in the second. The exception to this possibility is that they actually are able to get Mario restructured. Now if that happens, I'm with you 100%. As for the sack statistic, it really doesn't matter to me all that much. What matters more to me is yards and points allowed. Rex has had a couple teams where he's been #1 by both measures. Would this season have been more palatable if they had 60 sacks and still went 8-8? Not to me.
  13. I got a name for you for Round 1 of the draft. Jarran Reed. The more I look at different draft boards, the more I think that the Bills are going to be picking defensive line in Round 1, and specifically a DT. It wouldn't shock me one bit if they drafted someone else to play nose tackle and let Kyle and Marcel get after the quarterbacks. I tend to agree with you that I can't see Kyle playing the nose. He's just not big enough.
  14. Excellent article Yolo, and I would agree with the writer that he's being paid way to much to be a 2 gap NT. I would love to see him cut loose to get after the quarterback next season. Not sure why Rex is so stubborn that he believes his system is better than the players that he has.
  15. The more I study the draft boards, the more I think that the Bills will end up with Cash (SS), Bell (SS) or Thompson (FS) with their second round pick. If that doesn't work out, I could see a Joseph (SS) or Mills (FS) in the third. I don't see them going DB prior to the second round where there appears to be a lot of options.
  16. I think that they end up with Nkemdiche (DT) or Bullard (DE) in the first unless an unlikely Ragland (ILB) or Lee (OLB) fall to them there. Then I could see them turn around at take Butler (DT) in the second round. Either way, I think DE/DT will be at least the first or second pick for them, if not both.
  17. No chance they're getting Wentz unless they trade up. Don't see that happening either. Wentz stock right now is skyrocketing. On many boards he's a top-8 pick. I think much more likely that they could pull a Cardale Jones in the 4th round. Don't see a QB being picked before then as none of their picks are luxury picks. Many holes to be filled and QB isn't one of them.
  18. This is the key point I think for right now. Taylor had good stats last year, but wasn't a closer. He didn't take the team down the field when he needed to at the end of games to win them. With not enough starts and enough demonstration of his ability to do that, teams would look to the draft first. No proven quarterback that isn't close to 40 years old will ever make it to free agency. They'll be traded. As for his pay grade, he's not getting $19 million without the winning behind it. Heck, Jay Cutler, Matt Stafford, and even Andrew Luck are getting paid less than that. More than likely, unless he absolutely knocks it out of the park next year, he's looking at Andy Dalton money.
  19. In response to the OP, you're not the only one. I, as well, would like to see Peyton Manning leave the game on top with another Superbowl victory. So many people out there are suggesting that if you're rooting for Manning that somehow you have to be rooting against Cam Newton. I personally don't see that at all. As far as not seeing a black quarterback that can run before, do we so quickly forget Donovan McNabb, Daunte Culpepper, and Randall Cunningham? Culpepper may be the best comparison, although he was more accurate as a passer in an era that allowed a LOT more physical contact between defensive backs and receivers. White America afraid? Laughable suggestion at best. Newton will have many more years in the NFL to get a ring or three. What's so wrong with wanting one of the best if not the best quarterback in the history of the NFL to win it all one more time before he hangs it up? Too much damned race card being played today in every facet of society. Takes a lot away from movements that are trying to make real points like BLM.
  20. He played at a high level, but do you really think he was a "closer". In my mind, that's what we need to start seeing from him. I also wouldn't mind seeing more intermediate passing routes and getting rid of the ball quicker. Too many sacks from indecisiveness.
  21. Some communities are shutting it down, but it is growing in others. At the end of the day football participation was up in 2015 over 2014. Not all the way back up to 2013 levels after dropping about 10%, but up. Participation in high school football nationally for boys is still greater than the next two high school sports combined (track & field, and basketball). I guess my view on participation is a lot less dramatic than some. LOL.
  22. My response to the question is simple. If your starting QB has proven themselves, it isn't wise. Aaron Rodgers, Phillip Rivers, Tom Brady, etc., have all performed at a high level for years. There is absolutely no doubt that they deserve a fair contract based on the services they render for their team. Trying to apply that logic to Tyrod is a joke. He's started one season and had some decent numbers, no doubt. But, when the team has NEEDED him to drive the offense down the field late in many games, he's been unable to do it. He has not shown that he can be that "clutch" guy that you can count on at the ends of games. Overall, his numbers look good, but his inability to lead the comeback says that he deserves another year starting to show that he can get over the hump. Definitely NOT a new deal, 1 year after he signed a 3 year deal.
  23. Not at all. I view these lawsuits as simply a cash grab. Nothing more. They'll get their individual checks for $5K after attorney fees and go back to whatever their normal jobs are.
  24. I can't believe there are actually 6 pages of comments on Johnny football. He's just god awful as a QB.
  25. Williams v. Rambo is a good problem to have. None the less, neither guy has been able to be a solid producer for an entire season without some type of injury stealing games. We just can't have that be a regular thing. I wouldn't mind if the Bills went after a safety in the second round of the draft this Spring.
