McCoy's nightclub fight and the ongoing investigation
Luxy312 replied to lowghen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The longer this goes at this point, the better it is for McCoy. Outside of third party testimony of "who did what", there's not a whole lot out there that's compelling. For Goodell, there has to be something pointing to specific conduct by McCoy that gives the NFL their "black eye" (pun intended) such that they can say it's a violation. -
2016 Draft Analyst/Expert Mock drafts and Big Boards
Luxy312 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Please not at 19. I would take Joshua Perry in the second round over Floyd in the first. That might be a bigger reach than they made for EJ Manuel. I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit. Kiper's mock is an absolute disaster. He has them taking Dodd when Ragland, Lee, Jack, Robinson all still on the board. Just atrocious. -
2016 Draft Analyst/Expert Mock drafts and Big Boards

If the Bills get a pass rusher in the first round and could turn around and take someone like Vernon Butler or Austin Johnson in the 2nd, I would be absolutely stoked. If they can't nab someone there, I would even be OK with them grabbing a D.J. Reader in the 4th round. -
Could Easley be a decent backup safety for the Bills?
Luxy312 replied to simpleman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unless the Bills feel like his career is over, they're not going to cut him. At the end of the day, they would save only $575K by cutting him and would eat $1.275M of his total comp of $1.85M. No need to do anything with the guy. He's a straight up special teams player that hasn't done anything in any other facet of the game. Closed book in my opinion. -
Jets cut Antonio Cromarte--expected to meet with Bills
Luxy312 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No thanks on Cromartie. He's heading towards the wrong part of 30. I expect the Bills to lock-up Gilmore to a long term deal next hear and let Darby play at least another 2 years before giving him a healthy contract. Both of these guys are young studs (22 and 25), just entering their prime. There is no way the Bills trade either of them. To boot, the Bills have roughly $46 million coming off of their cap in 2017. Their bad cap situation is just for this year and completely manageable. -
Chris Long anyone? (Released by Rams with Laurinaitis/Cook)

Couple things on that. First, he's the only kicker worth drafting. Second, I half expect a knee jerk reaction from Rex & company about the kicker situation. If they don't address it in free agency, I could see them drafting the only kicker worth drafting that will be on any draft board.

Could Mario Williams Be Draft Day Trade Bait?
Luxy312 replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Zero chance that Mario is on the roster on draft day AND still being draft day trade bait. $7m in dead money for the Bills with his prorated bonus. He gets a $2.5m roster bonus on March 8 or 9 if he's still here. $500K workout bonus when camp breaks and then $11.5m in salary. I don't think there's a front office in the NFL that would be so stupid to trade for an over the hill DE that took a lot of plays off last season and then turn around and give him at least $14.0 million. Then they're going to turn around and give away draft picks? LMAO. Keep firing up the black gungi. -

McCoy's nightclub fight and the ongoing investigation
Luxy312 replied to lowghen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It means almost nothing. You can file a private complaint with the DA, but it bares the same burden of proof as if the DA filed it. So with the complete lack of evidence other than a "he said/she said", I'm not sure anything happens in this case. The Phily FOP and DA's office are a mess. -
Should the Bills tag Glenn?
Luxy312 replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here's why I say that. Disruptive, pass rushing DT's in the NFL make bank. Suh made bank. Dareus got a $100m deal. Guys that are just 2-gap run stuffers at most get $5-6m a year if they're the premier player doing that. That Jets DT Harrison won't likely get a deal around $5m per year. He's never going to be anything but a run stuffer. Dareus is paid like he's meant to do more than be a guy like Harrison or Wilfork. Those guys are just meat in the middle. You're right as well. That discussion probably in a different thread. -

NBD from me. Do think about this though. If the Bills get a true 2-gap NT to play the middle. Dareus can focus on pass rushing. I personally think he's good enough to be a force on the edge. He's a 5 technique DT as it is, so vastly under utilized. -

Luxy312 replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The "logic", if we can even call it that, for comparing M.Williams and C.Glenn is tenuous at best. Williams is under contract through 2017. For 2016, he would count $19.9m against the cap if we keep him or $7.0m if released. For 2017, he would count $16.5m. There is no tagging Williams this year or next. It's irrelevant to the discussion. He vastly under performed against his contract last year and enters this year approaching that age where performance is expected to trail off. Glenn, on the other hand, has improved every year and has many years left before he'll need to be replaced. To boot, Mario doesn't want to renegotiate his contract. So while it's super easy to say that you would "rather have Mario for one year at $14m than Cordy for the same price, it is extremely highly unlikely that it will even be an option. I hope they get deals done for Glenn and Incognito and go from there. If Mario wants to stick to his contract at a price of $19.9m against the cap, he's gone and good riddance. -
2016 Draft Analyst/Expert Mock drafts and Big Boards
Luxy312 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To me, picking a wide receiver early would be like picking a CB. Just not necessary, considering all of the other needs. I wouldn't be surprised at all if we didn't see a WR pick at all, much less before the 4th round or so. Let's not forget that as of right now, the Bills have no less than NINE wide receivers under contract, 2 of which were just added in January in Boykin and Little and one of which was re-signed earlier (Salas). All 3 of those guys aren't huge, but are still 6-1 or 6-2 and 210-215 lbs. To boot, Taylor and Boykin were team mates at VT. While we as fans may desire "best available", I think we're probably going to see "best available based on positions of need" early in the draft. -
I'm coming around to the possibility of a Jarran Reed in the first round or possibly someone like Austin Johnson in the 2nd if they go a different direction in the first round. At the end of the day, Bryant, Carrington, and Charles are all free agents for the Bills. I don't believe any of them would be quality full time starters anchoring the defense in the middle. I also don't think they're simply going to leave Dareus as a 2-gap nose tackle, which is what they basically used him as last season. Not for $100 million contract. Given the cap situation, they won't find a high quality NT in free agency either. This year for me screams loudly for the Bills to draft starters with their first two draft picks. The big question for me is whether they would consider moving Kyle back to the middle. He's a little under sized for NT, but....he's played the position before. Then OLB or DE would be the priority. Myles Jack or Jaylon Smith would be a steal in the first round, no doubt. I would be shocked if they fell anywhere close to 19th. Ogbah may be there in the 2nd round. He's not even the 6th-7th best DE on many a board that I've looked at.
-
It's not a lot, which is true. But, what's missing from the argument is their current cap situation. Right now, they are basically cap neutral. They essentially have NO cap space to play with. That's of course including Mario on the roster, but cutting him gets them only $12m. All I'm saying is that this "wish list" player isn't likely IMO. The Bills aren't going to simply start selling off their roster to make space. Corbin Bryant isn't under contract right now. So he saves nothing by NOT signing him. He's a free agent. Kyle would save you $5m by letting him go, but then you still have to replace him with someone else. If the Bills weren't in the worst cap situation of any team in the NFL right now (which they are), I could easily see paying for Harrison. Makes sense. Right now, it just doesn't.
-
They're saying $3-4 million a year is what a guy like him would cost. I don't see the Bills throwing more money at the defensive line when clearly they have to address the offensive line first. Glenn and Incognito are the priority right now.
-
I would take either to play as the two gap NT and free up Dareus to go after the QB. Right now, he's just used wrong for a $100m contract.
-
The #1 offense has been in 23 Superbowls compared to 12 for the #1 defense. I'll take that all day.

The Buffalo News has been a rag for quite some time, so I'm not really sure I care what they think about Tyrod and whether they think he's a franchise guy or not. There's some simple truths for me that suggest that there's a very small likelihood that the Bills will be drafting a quarterback until at least the 3rd or 4th round, and that it will be a developmental backup only. 1 - The top 2 prospects, possibly top 3 will be gone when they draft in the first round. I don't doubt that a Paxton Lynch could fall to them in the first round, but Goff and Wentz are as good as gone. Cleveland is parting ways with Johnny drinky drink, leaving them with Austin Davis. I'm almost 100% certain they're drafting either Goff or Wentz. After that you have teams like Dallas, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles picking before the Bills. Even if you assume just one more is picked, do the Bills take the THIRD best QB on the board? 2 - This team came together in Rex's first year as head coach. Tyrod won the starting job over Manuel and Cassel. Does anyone think the front office wants to intentionally create yet another quarterback controversy? Barring injury, Tyrod will be the starter and we'll know this early and often based on preseason reps. 3 - The Bills basically have 4 positions that they need to address from the standpoint of starters. DE/DT needs to be addressed with Mario being up in the air. Aaron Williams is "back", but can he make it an entire season? Corey Graham is not a good option at safety and they need better play at ILB and OLB. Some would say they can address this in free agency, but I don't see the money being there to do that. More likely at least 2 of those positions will be addressed in the draft and early. They after all need starters, not developmental players.

A completion percentage worse than any starter in the NFL worth anything. Yeh....sure he lands a starting job. LMAO. -

He's gone and not getting another NFL job, thank goodness. He certainly hasn't earned it.
