NFL Network on Tyrod: Bills won't pay him. Pay the man!
Luxy312 replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is non-news from the NFL network. Nothing more than an attempt at a headline grab. The Bills are roughly $6.8 million under the cap as we sit here today. To boot, they will need $5-$6 million to sign whomever they draft. Someone please explain where the money is supposed to come from. Also explain why. Tyrod ranked 30th in 4th quarter drives where the scores would matter in games according to one report I read. To boot, my eyes tell me that he's capable of only two types of throws. Short, under/screen type passes and bombs. Rarely do we see him throw a 9 yard pattern across the middle of the field. He looked good in some games last season and I'll give credit that he didn't throw a lot of picks. None the less, we need to see more before advocating that Buffalo find some magical way to pay him $18 million a year. Certainly not this year. At the end of the day, he signed a 3 year deal with the 3rd year voidable. Decent season last year, but now he's playing for his next contract. I want to see more before pulling the trigger on a long term commitment. -
Best player, biggest bust and sleeper in the draft
Luxy312 replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes. What's the definition of "sleeper". Is it a guy selected in the 4th round or later that is successful. Is 5th the cutoff? How about getting picked outside the first 150 players? It doesn't have a measurable, defined meaning, which basically means that people can define it however they want. -
So.....are we really going to not be able to replace 36 catches for 450 yards and 2 TD's? I guess Charles 9 tackles is huge too. Just can't find a guy to fill that void. LMAO. I love how every offseason, that the team is simultaneously supposed to keep everyone, make additions in free agency, AND draft 5 starters. It's so stupid to me that it's baffling. The Bills lost two starters in Bradham and Rambo, and neither were very good.

Cleveland might make a good trade partner before the draft.
Luxy312 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't see that at all. They added Greg Little and Jarrett Boykin in January. They re-signed Greg Salas. They still have Watkins, Woods, Goodwin, Easley, Lewis, Easley, and Powell on the roster as well. No team has 9 WR's on the roster before the draft with the idea of burning a draft pick in the first couple of rounds on another. They have that many defensive ends and defensive tackles COMBINED. Zero chance they're looking at a #2 WR as early as you think. -
Stephon Gilmore: "I Know I’m an Elite Corner."
Luxy312 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The old expression "you can see a lot by looking" just doesn't seem to apply for some. Gilmore has taken many WR's from the field of play. By almost any measure you look at, he's in the top tier at his position. I'll call it the top 25%. At the end of the day, that's how he's going to get paid. Did Darby have a better year last year? Maybe. Were QB's throwing Darby's way because he was a rookie? Also a solid maybe. What I do know is that for 4 years, the Bills have moved Gilmore around to face the #1 WR of their opponents. Notwithstanding what armchair internet warriors believe, it seems that the Bills front office believes that he's got talent. -
Best player, biggest bust and sleeper in the draft
Luxy312 replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Best: Going to go with Shaq Lawson. The combination of his speed, size and strength will make him an almost immediate success at the pro level. Bust: Joey Bosa. I know he had success at the college level, but his lack of strength and speed will get him manhandled at the next level. Sleeper: I'm not sure what exactly "sleeper" means, but I'll go with Austin Johnson. Not even rated top-5 at his position (DT) and I think he could be the best. -
This in a nutshell. Tunsil is a one in a decade left tackle prospect. He's as much of a "can't miss" as anyone I can remember in recent years maybe except for perhaps Orlando Pace. If the Titans are truly trying to build a team, it starts with the offensive line and protection for Mariota. "Stockpiling" draft picks doesn't do squat if you just end up with a bunch more average players. That's what they have right now.

Stephon Gilmore: "I Know I’m an Elite Corner."
Luxy312 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When he plays, I think Gilmore is an elite corner. Therein lies the rub. He's been in the NFL for 4 years and has just ONE complete season. 11 games missed in 4 years means that he's not deserving of "top-5" corner money. That's just my opinion and the Bills may feel differently, but you have to look at the hard facts. I do like the fact that he's not a big mouthed a-hole like Sherman, Talib, and many others. -
The overall lack of QB talent is killing the NFL
Luxy312 replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not sure anything needs to be done with the NFL at this point. The NFL is growing faster than any other professional sport and it's not even close. Is the quarterback position important? Absolutely. If anyone really wants to look at the statistics though, quarterbacks on average are significantly better than what they were in the 80's and 90's. There's always exceptional players in any era when compare to their peers. I just don't see any realistic scenario playing out where every team in the NFL suddenly finds themselves with a pro-bowl caliber franchise quarterback. -

This in a nutshell. This matter will quietly close with a whimper and McCoy isn't getting any time. -
Does anyone feel like the roster can be better this year?
Luxy312 replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't see any reason why the roster can't be better. Mario had 3 good years in Buffalo prior to last year's dud of a 5 sack season. He simply does not fit into the defensive scheme that the Bills will be running now. Bradham hasn't started a whole season in 4 years. He can be replaced with what's already on the roster, free agency or even the draft. I like the addition of Boykin and Little. I'm pretty sure that they'll contribute more than Harvin did in his whole 5 games of service. They're both big guys that will help draw some of the coverage off of Watkins. Boykin was catching passes from Taylor in college to boot. I'm not sure why, year after year, that fans believe that the team can keep everyone that they had in the year before, grab 6 guys in free agency and then draft another 6-7 guys beyond that. It's fodder to say the least. -
Are the Dolphins a concern for you?
Luxy312 replied to gr8billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They are a perpetual 8-8 team. Not better than the Bills next year. -

I don't think it matters. You can see a LOT by simply looking and he should have audibled out of it. Terrible by CK. -
A simple question from a simple-minded guy
Luxy312 replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe when push comes to shove, we end up with that Donovan McNabb type quarterback. He started his career taking off and put a lot of yards up on the ground. Later though, he learned to settle down, stay in the pocket, and became a pretty darn good pocket passer. None the less, similar issues. 13 seasons in the NFL and 9 of them were cut short by injuries of one type or another. Hopefully TT learned something from last year. -

$13.425 million is the only number I need to know. That's the figure that his contract commands for 2016, net of prorated bonuses received with his 2014 contract extension. What team in their right mind is going to trade for that? It makes absolutely no sense. That figure rises to $16.9 million for 2017. Those salary figures aren't huge for a starting NFL QB, middle of the pack to be exact. But, you would have to assume that the last 2 years of his NFL were simply a fluke. I'm not sure how any team does that unless they are desperate for a live body at QB. To boot, if the 49ers were able to trade him (conceding that it is still possible), they immediately eat $7,397,260. That would bring their total "dead money" up to an astonishing $14,013,726. It's not insurmountable, but it's a big figure at about 9% of the projected salary cap. The Bills right now by comparison have about $4.3 million in dead money. The single biggest issue with CK's current contract is the injury guarantee. If he gets hurt, he gets all of it. Why would he or any other player negotiate against themself? At the end of the day, for CK to be out of San Francisco, the 49ers are going to have to cut him. -
McCoy's nightclub fight and the ongoing investigation
Luxy312 replied to lowghen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No. How the hell can they? There's not even enough evidence to support that he even threw a punch, so much as the rest of it. Just think of the terribleness of this precedent. You were in the proximity of an altercation that we can't prove you had anything to do with, so we're going to take 1/16th of your salary for the year. NO! People are idiots. -
McCoy's nightclub fight and the ongoing investigation
Luxy312 replied to lowghen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As I had indicated previously, the longer this goes on, the more likely there will be no charges. The NFL will be hard pressed to hand down a punishment given all appearances that he was a bystander. -
It's hard to believe it has been 25 years, but I guess time flies when you're watching bad football teams. Honestly, I feel sorry for him that he's still carrying an emotional burden. But to be fair, if he is, he should be getting counseling. One kick in one of four Superbowls doesn't make life over. To boot, I don't know any Bills fans that think he's some pariah. He was a very good kicker for the Bills and won more games for us than he lost. The impromptu rally when the team returned from their loss and calling for him to speak and cheering him on should have been a clear message of how Bills fans are with their teams.

McCoy's nightclub fight and the ongoing investigation
Luxy312 replied to lowghen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
100% on point. To boot, there's already been people saying that it was Porter wielding the bottle. The cops may want to make this about "McCoy and his 3 friends", but it will very quickly turn to Porter and his bottle of champagne. -
McCoy's nightclub fight and the ongoing investigation
Luxy312 replied to lowghen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's much more consistent with the idea that the cops and Porter were the ones to start it. Like I was saying in the beginning, the further we get away from this, the less likely anything is going to happen legally, much less by the NFL. McCoy's attorneys are doing the right thing of keeping him out of any media spotlight. Of course the Phily media is roasting him for canceling the meeting with the D.A. They have an ax to grind. -
McCoy's nightclub fight and the ongoing investigation
Luxy312 replied to lowghen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The money grab comes from the alleged "permanent injuries" that the cops attorneys have already stated to the media on multiple occasions. Who has the money? That would be McCoy and why they're saying McCoy (and his 3 buddies) started the fight in lieu of saying the other guy did. None the less, the BN has gotten a report from someone that said the off duty cops started the fight. So there you go. Conflicting information already about a conflict that as far as I can tell, McCoy was only involved in the tail end of. Mixed sources of who started what and inadequate evidence to proceed with charges. -
McCoy's nightclub fight and the ongoing investigation
Luxy312 replied to lowghen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
District attorneys do not file charges and start the legal process unless they can draw the conclusion that they're more likely than not to convict. That's just criminal law 101. You're talking about wasting public resources when you are paid via taxpayer dollars. If they thought they had enough to charge, they would have charged already. To boot, the D.A. was going to meet with McCoy personally, which was just cancelled by the McCoy camp. That's just not something that happens in criminal matters and yet another reason why this smells like a money grab. -
McCoy's nightclub fight and the ongoing investigation
Luxy312 replied to lowghen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, I simplify this even more. Since 2006, there have been 57 cases of alleged domestic violence by NFL players. These are cases of men hitting women or children, not even other grown men in a bar fight. 10 players were cut outright by their teams. 12 players got suspended. For the other 35? Nothing. Zero. Zilch. For McCoy, there's just not enough evidence to do anything. Certainly not enough to charge him. He and his attorneys would eat the public prosecution alive. -
McCoy's nightclub fight and the ongoing investigation
Luxy312 replied to lowghen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This has "ego" and now "money grab" written all over it. Roland Butler is the guy that started it and likely the guy using the bottle of champagne as a weapon, which resulted in what the cops attorney is characterizing as permanent injury. Doesn't anyone find it funny as well how it's characterized by their attorney? McCoy and his party started a fight. The video doesn't show McCoy doing anything until the very end. I'm hearing the sound "CHA-CHING". -
McCoy's nightclub fight and the ongoing investigation
Luxy312 replied to lowghen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not only do we not know it, we likely never will. The video is just the tail end of what happened. It's never going to be anything more than that. So now you have multiple accounts by different people which in so many cases will not ever neatly and cleanly line up. Doesn't anyone believe for one second that McCoy's attorney isn't going to have him spouting exactly what you're saying. "I thought my friend was in danger". You can't tell from that crappy video who's on top, who's on the bottom, who threw the first punch, etc. All conjecture with no substance from both sides.
