Agreed, the lack of options in the FA pool will definitely increase the price of draft picks this year. -

Agreed, I see a lot to like about Frye as well, but the hometown card with Quinn would mean a lot of added revenue. Plus Cleveland has been one of the worst drafting teams since they've been back. Edwards and Winslow are their only 1st round picks still on the team and Winslow has only actually played in 1 of his 3 seasons. You know I would really like to see the look on Kiper's face if the Browns did grab Landry at 3...if you thought the backlash Buffalo got last year was bad....you ain't seen nothing yet. But if you are drafting on pure need instead of by player ratings, it would be a great pick for them. Peterson is definately a bigger talent than Willis, but RB is not the bigger need in my opinion. We have 2 holes at LB to fill right now and only 1 at RB. AP would be a great back to have, I'm not going to lie, but DJ has already said that he would like to use RBBC this season, which means we don't need a feature back in the first round to be successful. I'd rather wait until the 2nd to pick up a RB...Brandon Jackson from Nebraska or Brian Leonard would be nice (Even though most draft "experts" have Jackson going in the 3rd) I agree that you can still find solid defenders later in the draft, but you can find solid offensive players as well. Curtis Martin and Terrell Davis were both 6th round picks if my memory serves me correctly. Also, I think it would be a mistake to grab a project LB as our first pick at that position. We need a starter that has game experience in the position. Later on Day 2 would be a better time to grab project players and experiments...not day 1.

Right now I see them targeting Quinn, AP, and Thomas. All would be good fits for their offense. Landry would be a big acquisition for them as well, but at 3 that's just way too early I think. EDIT: Sorry forgot to add that I think they'll pursue Quinn in the draft as their main target. Even if Cleveland doesn't pick him up, there are still at least 3 teams looking at him in the top 10.

There is plenty of talk around the message boards, water coolers, and bar stools of Western NY about what the Bills should do with their first round pick this year. With each opinion offered there are plenty of scenarios to go along with them. Here’s what I see as options and scenarios that will be around on draft day. Scenario 1: Staying Put We have quite a few options at number 12. Patrick Willis, Marshawn Lynch, Amobi Okoye, and Paul Posluszny should all still be around at this pick. Right now Willis should be the pick to take at 12. We need LBs on this roster and it is a few picks too early to take Lynch or Pos. Okoye is an interesting and intriguing prospect because of his upside and almost limitless potential. However, with 5 DTs on the roster already and plenty of needs that need to be addressed on Day 1, this is a luxury that only Tom Donahoe would indulge in. Some people seem to think that AP might fall to us at 12. While it is possible, I’d say its probability is about the same as catching 4 of a kind on the river. Cleveland is likely to take him at 3, Minnesota is rumored to be interested in him as well, and Houston would be crazy not to take him at 10 should he fall that far. Which leads me to Scenario 2. Scenario 2: Trading up If Marv & Co. think AP is the real deal and the player we want, we might just trade up to get him, however, he would have to first fall past Cleveland to make it possible for us to trade up and get him. Washington is looking to trade out of the 6 spot, and according to the Draft Chart that pick is worth 1600 points and the 12 pick is worth 1200. To equal out the trade we would likely have to package another pick in the deal. We could package our 2nd round pick, but I think that would be too much to give up. If we were to make this deal I would swap the 6 and 12 picks and package in one of our 3rd round picks along with a conditional pick in 2008. Other than that, I don’t see any trading partners if we wanted to move up. Scenario 3: Trading down I’m not a huge fan of the idea of trading down in this draft, because as I’ve said before, I don’t think there is enough elite talent in this draft to warrant a trade down. However, if Willis and Peterson are gone I would prefer to trade down a few spots instead of reaching. Like I have said on numerous occasions before, I’m not high on taking Lynch at 12; I’m just not a fan of him. However, Green Bay looks to be very interested in acquiring Lynch in this draft. If they are interested enough we could swap the 12 and 16 picks and look to acquire either their 3rd round pick (78th overall) or some sort of 2008 compensation. At 16 we would more than likely be able to pick up Pos, or Timmons. That way we fulfill a need and acquire another Day 1 pick. Wildcard: Michael Turner While I do not feel he is worthy of a 1st round pick, it is still a possibility that the Bills make the move and acquire him. It would be a disaster for the Bills to use their 1st pick on Turner because it would take them out of the running for any of the top LBs in this draft and right now I see LB as a bigger hole to fill than RB. However, I would be more than happy to use a 2nd or 3rd rounder on him. This would allow us to fill holes in our depth chart a little more evenly and cost effectively.

Ron Dayne has some of the best rushing stats in NCAA history and is a total bust in the NFL. Stats don't tell the whole story. Hunt had atrocious numbers at the combine and his Proday...he's slipping as an NFL prospect

Scouts, Inc. write up on Paul Williams Paul Williams WR | (6'1", 205, 4.45) | FRESNO STATE Scouts Grade: 70 Flags: (D: DURABILITY) Player that can't stay healthy(M: MENTAL) Does not retain and learn the system(U: UNDERACHIEVER) Player that doesn't play up to ability Strengths: Possesses excellent athleticism and speed for his size. He shows good initial quickness and can drive defenders off the line. He has good bulk and strength, but still has room on his frame to get bigger. His hands are big and he shows flashes of being able to pluck the ball on the run in space. He has deceptive speed and shows the consistent ability to get over the top of defenders as a vertical route runner. His leaping ability, body control and balance are outstanding. He makes freakish plays on occasion that display his impressive natural overall tools. He gets upfield quickly after the catch and shows some elusiveness in space. He also is a physical runner that will lower his shoulder and drag defensive backs at the ends of runs. Weaknesses: A better athlete than football player at this point. Still has much room to improve as a route runner. He is sloppy and will round off too many of his routes. Doesn't show a natural feel for reading coverages or finding soft spots in zones. He will lose focus on occasion and will drop some "catchable" passes. Looks like he's going through the motions at times. There is speculation that he'd rather be playing DB and he spent some of his senior season complaining about being forced to play offense. Lets the ball get into his pads as a pass-catcher too often. He needs to learn the look the ball in when in traffic. He's not afraid to go over the middle, but he just doesn't pluck the ball and tuck it away as quickly as he should, which leads to defenders knocking it out of his grasp too often (see: first half vs. USC in 2005). Takes some poor angles as a blocker and lacks ideal technique in that regard. Durability is also a concern after he struggled to stay healthy as a senior. Overall: Williams was redshirted in 2002. He appeared in seven games as a backup in 2003, catching three passes for 20 yards. Williams played in 12 games in 2004, again as a backup, and made seven receptions for 70 yards. He also carried once on a double reverse for a 43-yard touchdown. In 2005, Williams saw action in all 13 games and finished the year with 43 receptions for 729 yards, averaged 17 yards per catch, and scored 7 touchdowns. He missed two games with a knee injury and also was limited at times due to a lingering hip problem as a senior in 2006, when he notched just 21 receptions for 229 yards with one TD. Williams has always possessed outstanding natural athleticism but he is a career underachiever. He took steps backwards as a senior in 2006, when he struggled to stay healthy and often times looked to be going through the motions as a route runner on offense. Williams has enough talent to warrant third-or-fourth round consideration, but he's a long-term project (at wide receiver or possibly defensive back) and he comes with lots of baggage. * Player biographies are provided by Scouts Inc. Not a great review for him and looks like a few character flaws may be aroud, but I still think the kid has a ton of potential -
You know, as much as it pains me to do this...I have to agree with Obie BJ is definately flying under the radar and would provide speed and hands to our Backfield by committee. However, I don't think he is flying low enough to make it to the third round and we might need to take him in the second.

LOL, Jim how often do you get to do number one on your list??? The petite sirah was from David Bruce wineries in Central Cal. Was hoping for something either South American or Italian, but this was still quite good. Gave me quite a nice wine buzz. I did learn something from this though....always find out before hand who doesn't eat red meat before you invite them to dinner

Which Bills player parties hardest?
WVUFootball29 replied to smokinandjokin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Moulds was a constant at Sunny's in Fredonia. He really had a thing for the underage bar sluts. But he was a cool guy to meet...as long as you kept him away from your girl. My bet for the current Bill that parties the hardest...Josh Reed or Ko Simpson -
Well first off I'd like to thank Chef Jim for his insight on my london broil marinade with was superb...thanks hoss. Another quick thanks to The Dean for his pick in a Petitie Sirah suggestions as a wine. Both were great, thanks you guys. Monday night i cooked a Chanko-Nabe, which is a Japanese stew mainly eaten by sumo wrestlers which I thought was very good, though it did leave my kitchen smelling like a seafood stand for the next 24 hours. Tonight I cooked a London Broil for myself, my G/f, and my buddy and wife. I'm glad that came out well, it was my first attempt at a London Broil and it was extremely tender and flavorful, but I owe a lot of that to the aforementioned. It's too bad I don't have the time or assets to open a restaurant, because I feel that is a business I could do very well that. Anyways, thanks again for the suggestions and help yall.

ESPN Insider on Kris Jenkins
WVUFootball29 replied to BUFFALOTONE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There is absolutely no reason to pick up Kris Jenkins. We have 5 DTs on the roster already. The guy is constantly hurt, a pain in the butt for coaches, and his pro bowl appearence was a fluke according to John Fox who thinks Jenkins played awful that season. He reminds me of Mike Williams, but on the other side of the ball. -

Sorry guys, I'm gonna have to say CW was a flash in the pan. After he first three games as a Buc he started to constantly get banged up and he slowed right down. No thanks. BTW, I also see it as smoke and mirrors for CJ....but you can't rule out QB in TB either. Depends on how Simms is feeling and how much confidence Gruden has in him.

Looking at the 2007 Draft
WVUFootball29 replied to WVUFootball29's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know if anything would be wrong with it...but if Thomas Jones and WM weren't fetching 1st round comp, I don't see how Turner should. I guess it depends on who is available at 12 on the day of the draft. I'd rather wait and see what kind of elite prospect we can grab before we make a deal for Turner. -

Looking at the 2007 Draft
WVUFootball29 replied to WVUFootball29's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well I appreciate your response, but I think you guys out there in San Diego are looking at this through a rose colored glass. Turner was a 5th round pick and has yet to prove he can be a starter. I won't deny that he is a solid runner, but he's not had to shoulder the load yet. So far from what I've seen, he doesnt warrant the number 12 pick...although he is my favorite RB available now in or out of the draft. I do not think Lynch is worth the 12th pick in the draft. I'm not overly impressed with him. However, I did say that Green Bay might want him more than we do and would be willing to trade up to secure him. GB is hurting more for a RB than Buffalo right now. We have 3 on the roster right now and have the luxury of waiting for the right guy for our system. Back to the trade for Turner. If Turner was worth the price of compensation, he would have already been signed by another team that would be happy to sign him. So far, none have even issued a tender sheet. Why? Simple, he's not worth that much. AJ Smith can hold on to Turner all he wants, but as draft day approaches, Turners value will continue to drop. Further proof that Turner will not fetch a first round pick. Thomas Jones was traded to the Jets for a 2nd round pick swap. Willis McGahee was traded to Baltimore for a 3rd, a 7th, and a 3rd next year. Both backs are young and proven to be able to handle a starting position in the NFL. Turner has yet to do so, so tell me where the logic in trading a 1st round pick for that is? At the end of the day, if/when Turner is unloaded, San Diego will end up with a mid to late 1st day selection and maybe possibly a 1st rounder in 2008 and the team that gets him will get a motivated RB who wants to prove he belongs in this league.
