Players I would look at out of these cuts (not suggesting we sign them)
C Greg Eslinger
WR Mario Urrutia
DL Keilen Dykes
DE Johnny Dingle
LB Ahmad Brooks
I always thought that Eslinger was a solid C while at Minnesota, but there is just something about good centers in college not always transferring well to the pro level. Still I think he'd be worth a workout to see if he would fit with the Bills.
Mario Urrutia shouldn't have left Louisville early, a decision that may cost him a pro career. He was a solid threat for Brian Brohm and has good size for a WR. However, he lacks true speed and his route running leaves something to be desired. He could be a low risk, high reward prospect for a team willing to wait 2 years for a return on investment.
Dykes and Dingle would have also benefited by staying at WVU for another year. However, with Rich Rod jumping ship for more cash in Michigan, many WVU players opted to go pro instead of stay their final year. Both these players have good football intelligence and moderate ability. However, they need more time to develop and add more size to succeed at the NFL level.
Brooks was a very good LB for Virginia and was pretty impressive in 2006 for the Bengals. He tore a groin muscle in 2007 and missed the vast amount of the season and probably isn't totally recovered just yet. Also had an off field incident in April where he was accused of punching a woman during a fight with her neighbor. Still could be worth a look should the LBs start dropping like flies again.
