  1. Not a huge TE need right now, Philly, Jets and Ravens are the other big ones that could take him, but right now I'm thinking philly takes moreno if he's there, Jets are more than 90% likely to grab a QB or WR first, and it depends on the value on the board, but the Ravens might go CB or WR first. If the Chargers take Moreno then its a good possibility Philly takes Pettigrew
  2. He's labelled as a workout warrior by a lot of teams so I can see him slipping, funny thing is though, he does have the ability to develop into something very special, but he's going to need the right kind of coach to get it out of him. Sadly, I can see him performing very well in Miami or in NE* or even Pittsburgh.
  3. both will be available with our second round pick. Johnson has a smidgen of a chance to go in the first, but I don't see it
  4. Well, working on mocks seemed pointless, after finishing 5 rounds yesterday I got a text from ESPN saying that Gonzales went to ATL. I had Atlanta taking him in my update and the trade then totally changed how the bottom of the draft would look. So instead of redrafting I'm going to throw out a few things to watch for tomorrow: 1. Look for Detroit to shock us all and take Curry with their pick. I know all the talk about contracts with Stafford, but I think they might try to save themselves a few dollars and go with a more sure pick overall. 2. Detroit taking Curry opens the flood gates to trades. St. Louis might take Stafford here, or likely they'll trade down with someone wanting a QB (Denver, Jets, ?Browns?) and still be able to find an OT to replace Pace. 3. If the Browns don't move up, don't be surprised if Tyson Jackson is their pick. Orakpo for awhile looked like a lock, but questions about his ability to rush in an up position have him relegated to a team with a 4-3 defense in this draft. 4. Cincy has been looking like an OT pick, but I'm calling they grab Orakpo if he is there at 6, pushing more OTs our way. 5. Buffalo will have its choice of Andre Smith and Michael Oher. Don't really love either, but I'll take Smith over Oher at LT, or vice versa at RT. 6. How bad do the Jets want a QB? How many picks can the Lions get? Detroit trading down twice to stockpile picks and still select at 17 and 20 is a possibility, but a remote one. If Detroit trades the first pick to a team wanting Stafford and are in position to draft Sanchez, look for the Jets to move up and get him. Detroit can then take Freeman at 17 and more help later on in the draft 7. Pettigrew will be available at 28 if the Ravens don't take him. 8. Braylon Edwards may move to NY on draft day if Kenny Britt is available at 29 9. Look for New England and Miami to get secondary help in the first 2 rounds 10. Local electronics stores jack prices on TVs in Buffalo area after draft day My Bills picks for day 1 (I'm not in love with this draft either) 1a Andre Smith 1b Brandon Pettigrew 2 Larry English 3 Choice of Duke Robinson or Kraig Urbik from Wisconsin
  5. Jax go worry about something important like when the Bills are going to move to Toronto
  6. I've never understood this concept. Not drafting a player because of the school he went to rather than what we can produce on the field
  7. Pats are going LB unless Jenkins slips... Hood won't go til the 2nd unless Indy takes him. If we waste a pick on a DT in the first there will be items thrown at my TV
  8. Kinda comparing Macintoshes to Granny Smith's here, but I understand your point. In the owner's case, most times a player is cut its either due to lack of performance or restructuring. When a player asks for more money, especially after recently signing a new contract it makes them look very greedy. We know this is not always the case, sometimes a player who performs at a high level on cheap contract deserves the raise he is requesting, especially if his playing time and team role would suggest it (Fred Jackson) However, in many cases players want more money simply because they have to have the most (Jason Peters), and in other cases they just plain spent it all (Travis Henry). The NFL would be wise to look at the NHL in terms of rookie contracts in the next CBA. I think adopting a similar rookie policy would help many team, especially small market and losing teams save money when drafting high and give these teams an opportunity to still afford to bid on big name free agents which would contribute to a much more competitive league in terms of team talent. However, like San Jose said, if you want to contract negotiations and renegotiations like the NHL, then teams would have to guarantee all contracts to keep the balance of power in check. Truthfully, the NFL is coming to a major crossroads at the end of this CBA and needs to make the proper decisions to keep running strong or else they risk letting things get way out of control like MLB.
  9. He was a good pick up for a 3rd rounder, but he consistently was banged up whereever he went. San Fran seems to like to pay top dollar for Bills though
  10. I'll nominate Mark Tremonti of Creed and Altered Bridge and Wes Boyland of Limp Bizkit
  11. Yeah there's always the possibility of someone slipping and in this draft that could mean good things. Andre Smith could slip, but I'm not sure how much I want him. Monroe could slip, but I doubt it as he's in a close race with Jason Smith for the top overall OT. However, good news for the Bills is that Orakpo could fall with all the Crabtree talk in Cleveland which could shake things up.
  12. Neither do I, like I said, truthfully we would probably need to trade up with or just past Atlanta to get him. However, with the mock, I had Atlanta focusing on defense.
  13. Typically I would, but here's what I'm looking at. Oher is the only LT on the board at 11 and I'm not a big fan of his. Thinking he might be another Mike Williams with his soft demeanor and questionable work ethic. I thought about Britton at 28, but with Pettigrew there he would be too much to pass up. Beatty has a chance of being on the board at their next pick. Now, another reason why I didn't take an OLineman is because, do you honestly think the Bills would have given up Peters and Dockery if they intended on replacing them with a pick? That's not a good idea. I think their gameplan is to go out pick up a couple playmakers early then fill depth. Besides Kendall Simmons is still a viable free agent option and Waters is still a trade possibility. Write that down
  14. He fits in the category of who's going to trade up and take him. I see him 4th at the earliest 12th at the latest. Most likely trade there is Jacksonville trading out to San Fran or Denver
  15. Well, after trades a few signings I've looked at the draft again and I can see quite a few interesting scenarios going down on Saturday. The first being Top 10 trades. The word around town is that 7 of the top 10 teams are willing to trade down in this draft including Detroit, KC, and Jacksonville. I don't blame them, there really isn't very many elite prospects in this draft and teams don't want to pay top dollar for average to good prospects. It boils down to how bad a team wants a specific player and if they are willing to move up to get him. Trade Possibilities: I'm looking for Washington to either trade out of the 1st round for salary cap reasons, or in a more Dan Snyder type of fashion to move up and grab Mark Sanchez at 8. Look for Dallas to try to find a way into the 1st round, possibly at 20 with Detroit KC is looking for a trade at 3, which team is going to bite for Aaron Curry? The Draft: If we stay away from trades for this mock, here is how I see things panning out: Pick # Team Player Position College 1 Lions Matthew Stafford QB Georgia 2 Rams Jason Smith OT Baylor 3 Chiefs Aaron Curry LB Wake Forest 4 Seahawks Eugene Monroe OT Virginia 5 Browns Brian Orakpo DE Texas 6 Bengals Andre Smith OT Alabama 7 Raiders Michael Crabtree WR Texas Tech 8 Jaguars Jeremy Maclin WR Missouri 9 Packers BJ Raji DT Boston College 10 49ers Mark Sanchez QB USC 11 Bills Aaron Maybin DE/LB Penn State 12 Broncos Tyson Jackson DE LSU 13 Redskins Michael Oher OT Mississippi 14 Saints Chris Wells RB Ohio State 15 Texans Everette Brown DE/LB Florida State 16 Chargers Rey Maualuga LB USC 17 Jets Darrius Heyward-Bey WR Maryland 18 Broncos Brian Cushing LB USC 19 Buccaneers Josh Freeman QB Kansas State 20 Lions Robert Ayers DE Tennessee 21 Eagles Knowshon Moreno HB Georgia 22 Vikings Percy Harvin WR Florida 23 Patriots Malcolm Jenkins CB Ohio State 24 Falcons Clay Matthews LB USC 25 Dolphins Hakeem Nicks WR North Carolina 26 Ravens Vontae Davis CB Illinois 27 Colts Evander Hood DT Missouri 28 Bills Brandon Pettigrew TE Oklahoma State 29 Giants Eben Britton OT Arizona 30 Titans Kenny Britt WR Rutgers 31 Cardinals Donald Brown RB Uconn 32 Steelers Max Unger OL Oregon Surprises: Andre Smith apparently is still held in high regard by a lot of teams and even with his pre draft problems will still probably be taken in the top 10. Malcolm Jenkins could very well slide to the late parts of the round and right into New Englands lap The Falcons will have a tough time deciding between Pettigrew and Matthews, but defense will probably prevail here Best Value: Bills getting Pettigrew late would be the best value pick of the 1st round. However, in reality they may have to trade up with Atlanta or higher to get him Eagles getting Knowshon Moreno, arguably the best RB in this draft at 21 Patriots getting Jenkins at 23: Reaches: The Bucs taking Freeman is going to be a reach, but then again, I thought the same with Flacco last year. Saints taking Wells at 14 is a huge reach, but they really need a big back to compliment Reggie Bush. Matt Stafford with the first pick is the biggest reach in the draft, don't be shocked with Detroit to play it safe and grab Jason Smith or Aaron Curry instead.
  16. We'll let it slide this time, just don't use your car as supporting evidence in any claim
  17. Agreed, both solid producing defensive players...too bad HB Blades couldn't live up to the family legacy
  18. I'll pick for any open team. I hope this time around we don't let the trades get out of hand
  19. Peters is working on a year long April Fool's Joke in that regard
  20. Think we got a little off the topic here, We're talking about the best brother tandems, not good players with a brother that also played. I don't think Walter and Eddie Payton would have made this list because Eddie was an average KR while his brother was a Hall of Famer, however the Bahr's were both very successful kickers in the league
