Best ways to save money during college...
WVUFootball29 replied to 2003's topic in Off the Wall Archives
to volunteer, I would contact the athletic office as soon as possible. They will put you in contact with the right people. Slingbox is a device that attaches to your television and internet and enables the user to broadcast what they are watching to others on the internet. its nice if you are on a work trip and want to watch something from home, just connect to the slingbox ip and view away. Usually someone on here posts a slingbox address for each home game. -

1. While you might get the ball boy position, the teams are always looking for volunteers and equipment managers and that would be a great way to get on the sidelines. Can't believe they make you play for tickets. WVU, students don't pay to get into games. 2. Your dorm may or may not have satellite, but if they do, it'll be in the common area and you'll be fighting against all the other east coast fans to watch a game. Best bet, Damon's or any other sports bar where you don't have to be 21 to get. Grab a few friends, a couple appetizer platters and watch the games. Otherwise, find someone with a slingbox that'll put the game on for you. -

What happens to the Sabres when FA hits tomorrow?

Right, its a little different the how the NFL RFA system works where compensation is dictated by the value of the original teams offersheet. -
We already have another thread for that.

If you are not going to get a meal plan and are staying on campus, find out if you are allowed a refrigerator and microwave in your room. If you are, you're set because you can handle most of your sustanence needs that way. Other ways to save cash: Parking is a big money maker for schools. If possible take mass transit provided by the school or walk if you have to pay to park on campus. When it comes to books, try half.com as soon as you know what books you'll need for each semester, much cheaper there vs. the bookstore. Also, when selling back books, check sites like half.com, bluephoenix.com, and barnesandnoble.com. They may give you more in return for your books than the campus will. Learn about as many of the schools facilities and services that you can. You'll find sometimes its cheaper to use their services than it is to go to a private business for things like computer repair, copies, printing, etc. Use the schools healthcare facilities. Many times these are much cheaper than a private doctor and your school should have some time of insurance coverage for you being a fulltime student. Word of warning though, because it is cheap and convienient, its also very full so schedule things as much in advance if you can. I sprained an ankle once at school and I was told unless it was an emergency, I couldn't be seen for a week. Best I can think of off the top of my head, if I think of more, i'll post them. -

Weber or Butler I think would be just as good...waiting for the bottles and cans to be thrown at me...However, like shrader said, I don't see anyone chomping at the bit to grab him from us. -

Shawn Nelson Not Likely To Start At TE
WVUFootball29 replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ding ding ding ding ding, we have a winner. That is what we're going to see a lot from Nelson this year. As the season progresses and hopefully his blocking ability, we'll see him on the field more and more and in different formations hopefully making defenses account for his playmaking ability on every play. -
A f'n men to that

I don't see much loss if sekera is taken. The Sabres have a bunch of guys like him waiting in the AHL. -

I'm thinking that we lose Spacek or have to grossly over pay him to keep him as some team out there is going to offer him a boat load of cash because they can. Sekera I doubt anyone goes after. As long as no one offers Stafford anything overly outrageous I think it will be like the Vanek situation a few years ago. Give an offer, wait to see who offers what and then match it. -
they are for sale on woot.com at least 4 times a month for about 150 to 200 bucks. the original models actually work pretty darn good and new the models are supposed to be even better and apparently won't get stuck like the old ones. Carpet isn't a problem for these, its a misconception due to size that people believe it can't clean a carpet because the motor isn't big enough.

Couple that with the fact that he wasn't called on to block much in the Southern Miss spread scheme and you can see why he's not going to be the starter this year. Its going to take him some time to learn and understand the blocking scheme. -
I'm thinking this thread belongs in the threads that go adrift column

A look back at the 2006 Draft

Cmon man, the guy has started every game in 3 seasons in the league. If that's not the epitome of first round talent, I don't know what is -
A look back at the 2006 Draft
WVUFootball29 replied to WVUFootball29's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Double hit it right on the head. The draft is really a crapshoot in a number of ways, who's talent transfers over to the pro game, who fits right in which scheme, who's going to get hurt. You just never know whats going to happen. I bet if we took the time to break it down the % of successful and unsuccessful players by round, the percentage would only drop slightly, my guess is from about 45% in the 1st round down to about 30% in the 7th -
Nothing better than a nice Fender tube...cept maybe a Vox tube. Anyways, what I would do here is just replace the burnt out tube with an exact replacement and see how it sounds. If it works/sounds like it should, good deal, if not, you're going to have to go through the whole replacement process. Chances are, as long as you use the same tube and give it a little burn in time, you'll be just fine.

Agree completely. He's a good player if used correctly. He'll never been a feature back because he can't take the pounding, and that has been evident over the past 2 seasons. However, move him around the field and make defenses account for him on every play and now you've got something to work with. -
I'll take Dominican any day. Bought some Puerto Rican cigars from a small factory in San Juan over Easter on my honeymoon. Damn fine smokes. Don Collins I think was the name.
