PK Sam has been waived by the Bills. CJ Hawthorne has been cleared to resume practicing. With the injuries taking place at the WR/STs level, Hawthorne's return will give him a chance to keep pressing for a roster/PS spot.

I think you mean CB. Yes he started out as a CB at Oregon, but moved into a Safety/Rover position after this second year. He played Safety all through high school as well. I have no idea why he was projected as a CB prospect because it hadn't been his natural position because Oregon plays a hybrid defense.

He's not going to miss that much time. the timeframe was 4-8 weeks, but the surgery took place 2 weeks ago so that puts him at a minimum of 2 more weeks of healing and at the most 6 which would make him only miss the first game. So lets look at worst case scenario and he can't play til Week 2, or even worse week 3. It was highly unlikely he was going to beat out Whitner for the starting FS role anyways. So he sees a little bit of playtime late in the third game and sees an increased role each week as he starts getting his feet wet. I would say be the Cleveland game he could be a regular in the rotation.

this is nothing like Youboty...we haven't gotten production out of Ashton yet It is a setback, but at least now that he is under contract they can at least teach him the mental side of the game and get him as prepared as possible to take the field. We don't need him to start this year, we're in no major crunch for defensive backs.

What? I just said that you figured out the masterplan of the NE* organization and you comeback because that had a lot to do with the Chiefs taking it in the shorts. You accuse Pioli of railroading the Chiefs into spending way too much on Cassel in an empirical sort of way. However you forget that Cassel as QB with no starting experience finished in the top 10 of almost every major QB stat in 2008. Yeah, he definitely cost too much compared to the All-Pros that were currently on the Chiefs.
