  1. If the vehicle has an out of date reg it will find it everytime because it takes a picture of every license plate it passes and processes it instantly against the NY DMV database and it also processes with NCIC and Amber Alert for anything outstanding. So yes I would say as long as the information is in the system it works every time.
  2. These replies are becoming more of a reach than Dante Whitener
  3. Yes, Chautauqua County has a car equipped to this along with most NYSP barracks have one car equipped to do it. When I did my RADAR/LIDAR training I got to work in the CCSD car and got to play with it. It works extremely well and we made two stops because of it. One for an outstanding warrant in the drivers name and another for expired registration.
  4. Sorry JB I have to disagree with you here. Not being able to clearly see the license plate of a car you have pulled over can be very dangerous to a police officer. As former patrol officer, when making a vehicle stop the first thing I did was run the plate of the car to get an idea of who and what I might be dealing with. If a vehicle is stolen or the driver has prior convictions can be vital information to help keep the officer safe on the stop. Not having this information just adds another unknown into what can always be a potentially deadly situation. Now, personally I think in a situation where I stopped someone for an infraction such as this I would use it as a reason to see if there is anything else I could get the driver for i.e. expired reg, no insurance, contraband, etc; which is really what these laws are supposed to be for. Would I write a driver for just solely having a plate cover? Probably not unless it was a repeat offender or they were particularly rude and uncooperative.
  5. Hanns G isn't horrible for an off brand at best buy. Sharp, Toshiba are pretty good middle weights too
  6. I still think its that Garrison Sanborn that is causing all the problems
  7. The Yellow Light of Death is extremely rare so I don't think that is the problem. Try this first, go turn the playstation on using the power button and hold it down for about 5 seconds to hear a second beep. This will reset the video properties and should fix the problem for you. If this is does not work, send me a pm and I'll try to help you a little more.
  8. I dont know Astro, Urbik looked pretty good there in relief last week and we'll see more of him this week to get a better idea of his ability.
  9. Man if you swap Newton for Pinkston and Houston for Kaepernick you have a really nice draft.
  10. Wow talk about uncalled for. I knew Chris from WVU and couldn't stand him, but this is just atrocious.
  11. Best Brett Favre joke can be found here under TDs and INTs http://www.nfl.com/players/brettfavre/profile?id=FAV540222
  12. Thats what I thought too, so if I find the right deal I may consider purchasing something. I'll get in touch with you via PM Tom
  13. I'd love to be in Arlington, but havnt found anything that i like under 2300 ish a month. Gonna go check out Wheaton apartment complex when I go back in a few weeks. Wish this was more of a 9-5 type job so I could live out on the ends of MARC or VRE trains where the rents are a lot lower.
  14. The outfield itself has not changed since 1938, but when the Bears played there, the football field was laid out a bit differently with the endzones running from Leftfield to the first base dugout rather than from 3rd base to the right field wall. The back of the endzones were still close the wall and presents a dangerous situation for players making plays in the back of the endzone. The main difference between 1970s and today is insurance and lawsuits. Can you imagine the lawsuits being doled out should player be seriously injured by crashing into a brickwall in a novelty style game such as this? The Big Ten, Wrigley Field, and the colleges are just covering their butts on this one. The way the game is to be played is that all offensive plays will be run towards the 3rd base dugout endzone. Defensive players will still have to score on the opposite endzone. They just dont want offensive plays happening at the back of the right field endzone to limit injuries. Will this have a major impact on the game? I doubt it, nor do I believe any players on the field will be confused as to what to do. If so, I guess we'll know who the C average students are won't we? 15. I have, little more pricey than over by Wheaton Station. Going to look some more by Rockville because I do really like that area, I'd just like to keep my rent under 2k if I can help it.
  16. I like the way you think Deano...so this is how I convince my wife we need a 3d tv
  17. Thanks for all the info guys. Looking at a place near Wheaton Station now and have my sights set on a few others in arlington, alexandria, and downtown. Just need to crunch some numbers and see what is going to be the most cost effective vs giving me the shortest commute. I'll be working 12 hours shifts 5 days a week so having as much time at home with the baby is important. Does anyone know about the townhouse complex over by FedEx Field called Victory Promenade? They looked fairly nice and the price wasn't much more than renting and its only a block away from the Morgan station metro.
  18. Well hate to say it, but looks like I'm going to be moving out of WNY. Unfortunately, not to one of my preferred locales (Denver, Austin, Nashville), but to Washington DC as I just signed my offer letter for a DOJ Protective Services position. I know we have a few TBDers in the metro area so I was hoping to get some suggestions on where I should be looking for apartments? Quick run down of my situation: Wife and I are both about 30 with a 9 month old daughter. Looking for a place that is walkable to the metro line, under 2200 a month(could stretch it to 2500 in the right situation), and preferably in a neighborhood where I don't have to be armed to walk around the block. I have found a few places in Alexandria, Hyattsville, and near Silver Springs that are on my list, but I was hoping that someone might know of some secrets or little known locations that I have not come across. Also, right now it looks like the MARC and VRE trains are of no use to me since my shifts will either begin or end at 6am. Metro is the only way to go as parking near the Dept of Justice is ridiculous. Any help is much appreciated. Also, probably not moving until after Jan 1 as I'm waiting for my security clearance to go through right now.
  19. Didn't some whack job suggest Avril Lavigne as the new Bills song at one point?
  20. Depends on his contract situation. As an 8 game rental it couldnt hurt, but its nothing that is going to help this team long term.
