  1. Mangold looks to be a high 2nd round pick...he might fall to us in the second, but I doubt it. I can't see the need to bring in another rookie when there are 3 experienced vets out there. If we cant sign any of them...heck I wouldnt be opposed to Mangold I think he's one of best centers to come out in a long time.
  2. Doesnt appear on NFL.com's FA list. Still shows him as an active member of the Browns. I wonder if he'll move to guard or if Cleveland will be willing to trade him now that they have Bentley.
  3. Uh oh...I have to agree with you? Yeah, I'm not sold on Bunkley just yet either. big combine guys scare me when it comes to picking them high in the draft. Besides, I think Ngata will be better fit as a spacetaker next to Triplett.
  4. Update on Davis...Arizona will not be resigning him, they offered him less than 1 mil. Davis was in talks with Seattle on the 12th per KFFL. If Arizona isnt going to pay him they are either really concerned with the injury recovery, or they are sold on Kolodziej
  5. You know I missed him...he was listed as a NT on the NFL.com listings. He's not a bad choice...but he's coming off a torn biceps injury he suffered in late September. I've not heard how well he's recovering from that injury, but arm injuries to lineman scare me. I'll do some more digging and see what I can find.
  6. Current FA Centers Mike Pukecillo Cleveland Tyson Walter Houston Seth McKinney Miami Bob Hallen San Diego Bill Conaty Arizona Jeff Mitchell Carolina Brock Gutierrez Detroit Mike Flanagan Green Bay Melvin Fowler Minnesota All of these centers are unrestricted. McKinney, Mitchell and Flanagan are the only ones of this group with significant starting experience and if/when we officially leave Trey Teague off the roster we going to need a center with experience AT THE CENTER POSITION to take his place. I'm not sold on Preston just yet, he played well in his first start for Chris Villarrial. However, he did look lost in most of his other appearances and I hope that is because he was mostly playing Guard instead of Center. I'd like Duke to have a year, maybe two behind an experienced Center like Mitchell or Flanagan. the sticking point to all this is that the teams are not going to willingly part with any of these guys, so we'd probably have to overpay them a bit. I'm alright with that because I truly believe that Center has been a major weakness on this offensive line since we lost Jerry Ostrowski to that broken leg. If any of those three can be brought in without severly hampering our draft...Git-R-Done Marv.
  7. Its draft season...they'll go up quick here in the next couple weeks...I live for the NFL Draft.
  8. Here's the current list of of UFA and RFA DTs in the NFL: UFA Edwards, Ron DT Buffalo Pope, Monsanto DT Denver Dalton, Lional DT KC Jasper, Edward DT Oakland Smith, Kenny DT Oakland Kolodziej, Ross DT Arizona Jackson, Grady DT Green Bay Whitehead, Willie DT NO Woodard, Cedric DT NO Killings, Cedric DT Washington RFA Franklin, Aubrayo DT Baltimore 5th comp King, Kenny DT Arizona 5th comp Moorehead, Kindal DT Carolina 5th Allen, Kenderick DT NY Giants Right of refusal Players to take a look at in my opinion are: Kindal Moorehead from Carolina (played in 15 games 23 tackles, 5 sacks, 1FF, 3 Pass Def) Grady Jackson from GB (Played all 16 games last year, can take up space for Tripplett) If Grady comes cheap he's worth getting to take up Sam Adams role in this defense. He played all 16 games last year so I'm not as worried about injuries as others are. I'd be happy to have him rotate with a solid rookie DT we get in the draft. Moorehead has played well the past 2 seasons in Carolina and would definately be worth a 5th round. 61 tackles and 7 sacks in two seasons aren't bad stats playing behind Brentson Buckner. That said, I'm still convinced we need to grab a DT in the draft no matter what/who we get. However, should we sign one of those two we can afford to use the 1st rounder on the best impact player at a position we need (Ngata, Huff, maybe Hawk if we falls.)
  9. Well guys, I've been looking everywhere and I cannot find the name to my avatar babe. Soooo, I'm gonna let you guys name her and I'll post the name under her photo for all to see. Lets come up with some good ones boys....and girls
  10. LOL I dont yet...but I got an idea...check the off the wall board in a few mins.
  11. I think you might be giving Goldsberry a little too much credit at this point...but I do agree with you 100% that its time to let Shelton out to pasture and let the young studs roam the backfield. I think the best plan right now is to hold on to Shelton to see what we can pickup either in the draft or soon after then let him go on his merry way. Unfortunately, I've not seen what Jauron intends to do with the offense on this team so I can't say for sure. If we were to use a 2TE set that would pretty much rule any use for a FB, except in short yardage situations making a bruiser like Bernstein worthwhile. However, if they could pick up an H-Back that can play the position well, that could be pretty effective giving us more options in a 2back set and the ability to motion into a 2TE set.
  12. he played well the last few games of the season....but he's a Donahoe high motor guy, so he can't ever possibly be good...
  13. Amen, I would love to see that again. Can't be a power running team without someone knocking the linebackers on their asses...and Shelton and Burns just cant git-r-done.
  14. I've got nothing against Goldsberry, I thought he did a tremendous job last preseason. This thread was basically to inform about the FBs in this upcoming draft. that said, Goldsberry didnt even get on the roster until december 30 this year so I can't see handing him the job this year because of a good preseason the year before. Plus he was a UDFA, so even if we did grab a fullback this year to compete in camp it's not like we wasted a draft pick on him. I think too many teams really overlook what a quality fullback can bring to their team. Certain FBs can be a change of pace back while your star HB is on the field, giving the defense one more thing they have to watch for. Others can be an underneath receiver which can help spread the defense thin on pass defense opening up more big plays, while others can be like a mobile lineman in the backfield, picking up the trash that slips by the main lineman. shelton has out played his usefulness and a 33 is become less and less effective and I wouldnt mind seeing Buffalo pick up a replacement for him late in this draft...lets say 4th or 5th round, or later depending on who is still available.
  15. Did some more digging and watched a couple of these guys workout at the combine here's what I think now. Matt Bernstein looks to be another Cory Schlesinger, take that as you will. I saw a guy who can pick up tough short yards and is constantly improving as a pass blocker. He can run block like its no one business and his hands aren't quite as bad as some scouts might lead you to believe. Would thrive in a 2 back set offense as a lead blocker. Lawrence Vickers could very well be another Larry Centers...outstanding receiver out of the back field and a solid inside runner. Only thing that is a concern is his lack of true size and his one on one blocking skills. JD Runnels wasnt used much in Oklahomas system and also appears to have caught a case of the dropsies. Still had a solid combine and is good a creating space. Also said to be quite the high character athlete to be a leader on and off the field. Rashon Powers-Neal has improved his 40 time to 4.61 since the last posting. Looked better as a receiver and has shown to be a solid runner, can also pick up the blitz well. However, he still looks like a tweener back and might not catch on as a starter at either position in the NFL. Prime NFL Europe candidate No new news for Shaun Willis, Steven Jackson, Brandon Jones, Chad Henley Derrick Ross improved his 40 time at the combine to 4.52, wasnt overly impressed by the rest of his workout...proved to me why he was a D2 RB. One new find since the last post and might be right up our alley. Garrett Mills of Tulsa has really surprised a lot of scouts as well as myself. Could really be the next Chris Cooley. 6'1" 241lbs ran the 40 in 4.64 and excelled to the top 2 in many of the TE categories except vertical leap. Has great hands and is a threat as a receiver. Decent runner inside and is good as creating space as a blocker. Played TE and FB for Tulsa and while he might lack size a fulltime tight end in the NFL FB or H-back might be his best bet. Definately worth a late second day pick in my opinion.
  16. My apologies...he was hurt at the beginning of this year and the end of 2004.
  17. might have to do with the fact that he hasnt finished the last 2 seasons
  18. I dont recall too many big plays out of Cap'n Dinkandduck....oh wait you mean that one fake sneak pass to shelton....that was pretty big, or the 3 yard out on 3rd and 8 with the game on the line...that was pretty big too....for the opposing teams.
  19. Because those numbers right there seal the deal.... Goooooo Cap'n DinkandDuck
  20. didn't some crazy birdie say Miami was likely to grab Culpepper about a month ago?
  21. I think it would be a substantial improvement, but you gotta remember if we get those 2, we can still draft depth at tackle and Geisinger will be back healthy this year as well. Plus Preston can pretty much play any of the interior positions.
  22. Its western NY...we have a right to be unhappy about anything and everything. We dont really like the Bills as much as we just put up with them. It gives us something to complain about. We dont really want good players on our teams, so we run them out of town.
  23. LOL you guys see the picture the NFL.com mainpage???? Looks like a geriatrics convention.
