This article covers much of the same ground as Ty Dunne’s this week, including references and quotes from Beilein. Probably something McD brought up in both interviews. The part about his Dad having cancer was touching. It’s easy to forget these are just people and their jobs are the subject of a LOT of people’s obsessions. I remember hearing about Bills’ kicker Booth Lustig being accosted after a game. Crazy.

Haven’t heard any conspiracy theories about how this is all planned between Watson and the Browns to end the entire relationship once and for all. Watson can disappear into the sunset and the Browns can take the hit and move on.

This argument comes up every time the situation unfolds like this and the owners are not concerned. I think there will have to be more owners pounding the table about this being unfair before anything will happen. Who knows, the owners may like it this way because it’s easier to build a 9-win division winner than a 14-win team. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think the division format is so embedded in professional sports leagues, it will be tough to change in the NFL. The owners aren’t exactly cutting edge when it comes to new ideas and innovation. The division home and home series also fosters rivalries and that is good for the leagues and makes for excitement for the fans. Similarly, the conference format is a relic of the NFL/AFL days and is not as relevant anymore with interconference regular season games.

The Bills have done this a few times in the past. I think I have (or had) a couple white towels with Bills logo and some ads on it from the drought era. I think they are trying to generate some buzz for a game that is lacking it, as evidenced by secondary market ticket values.
