I can only speak for myself. I sometimes find myself wondering if Mahomes can do it, why can’t Josh Allen? But then I realize that Mahomes is an anomaly and try to temper my expectations of Josh. So when I read some criticism of Josh, I wonder if others are experiencing the same expectations. It’s a seductive thing to see Mahomes play at an All Pro level and transfer that expectation onto other young QBs. Much like Brady was a 6th round anomaly, and people wonder why someone drafted at the top of the draft doesn’t become as good as Brady.
Keep saying good, but you are arguing a point with yourself.
Mahomes was great in his very first start and has been consistently great from that point forward - many 300 yard and multi-touchdown games. He won the league MVP in his first full season of starting. If that’s not an anomaly then I guess I’m using the wrong definition.
Did I say “good”? Nope.
The point is most QBs do not become instantly great, like Mahomes. People see his rise and expect someone like Allen to do the same. When he doesn’t become another anomaly, he’s viewed as a bust, or at least as failing.
This is an amazing post! Thanks for the memories. One to add.....
....you not only remember Preston Ridlehuber, but you know the two famous plays he was involved in.
So with post 251, someone becomes less of an idiot?
I’m inclined to think idiocy is something one is stuck with, like being red-headed, left-handed, or being named Tom. ?
“Conor, thanks for stopping in. Look, we need to make some roster moves, so we need to cut you. Once we make our moves, we plan to sign you back on, because, you know, no one is gonna sign you in the interim (coughs nervously)”
I listened to Jeremy tell his story on the WGR vault and although it was heart-wrenching, both my wife and I were amazed and uplifted by his strength of character and attitude about the tragedy. His ability to tell the story without completely losing it was remarkable, as was his eloquence and gratitude. As sad as it was to hear, we were both uplifted by his approach to seeing the good and opportunity to help others in the future. I have always liked listening to Jeremy and definitely have great respect for him as a man and father. God bless them all.
