  1. Used to love them back in the day. Saw them a couple times at the lost horizon in syracuse. Never realized they were a philly based band...they are playing tomorrow night at World Cafe Live....I think i may go check out some 'bitchin' camaro', 'punk rock girl' and various other songs from 'yesterday'....

I was watching the first episode of Raising Hope the other night and Punk Rock Girl was used in a flashback scene

  2. Jon Stewart is an American Hero.

This will be the event where we finally call out this fanatical, conservative, religious-freak media.

IMO people like Beck, Palin and the witch from Delaware should be tried for treason for using our government as their own personal power toys.

I for one will be driving several hours to witness this historic event.

I like Stewart/Colbert but is this post a little inflated? Maybe even insane?

  3. came in here only to post Requiem for a Dream.

there are a lot of other good, depressing movies mentioned in this thread, but Requiem is the movie that makes you feel like someone just kicked your soul in the crotch. I remember not even being able to get up from my chair when it was over. A really messed up, amazing movie.

I DVRd Requiem a few ago off IFC. Finally got around to watching it. Have to give it the old thumbs down. They got what was coming to them. I couldn't muster any sympathy for those losers.

  4. I was born in 1968 and gave up cursive in Jr./high-school

Born just a few years after you and also gave up cursive in college. @10 years ago when taking the GMAT, you had to write out a provided paragraph in cursive. I suppose this was done so they had a record to investigate any cheating (how about a webcam while taking the test?). Anyhow, I really struggled to write a whole paragraph in cursive.

  5. Why was Johnson's play reviewed and not every other shot in the tourney? Why did he come under such scrutiny? Because he was near the lead and/or leading? That doesn't seem equitable. If they are going review his and call him out on it... Review every shot in the tourney... I am sure many strokes would get added on to player's scores. Why does the burden solely fall on the leaders?

I hear stories of people watching TV calling in rules violations all the time. Dustin is actually lucky that it was relayed to him before he signed his scorecard. Otherwise he would've been DQ'd for signing an incorrect scorecard which would've cost him his $270K in earnings and a shitload of Ryder Cup and FedEx Cup points.

So yes, those that get the most TV coverage (the leaders and Tiger) are more scrutinized. While maybe it's not exactly equitable, it certainly is fair that the leaders receive increased scrutiny since they're accepting all that TV money.

  6. It's upscale. I can't believe this happened, and I am particularly shocked that it happened there. I used to work in the Main Seneca neighborhood and walk through there a couple of times a week now, and I don't even think of stopping at City Grill for lunch because it's too expensive. FYI - it's also known as a place where people who are having affairs go for clandestine dinners because it's kind of out of the way given the lack of on-site parking.

Are you sure you're thinking of the right place? There is parking on both sides of that place and across the street.

  7. If you look at what you posted earlier it says "All areas of the course that were designed and built as sand bunkers will be played as bunkers". That does not cover every spot of sand on the course. As they were saying on the broadcast yesterday, in order to be a bunker, it needs to have a lip. With where the fans were standing, there was no way he could possibly see a lip. Was it trampled down by the fans during the course of the week? Probably. The big question which I haven't seen answered yet (haven't gone searching for it either) is if there are any waste bunkers anywhere on that course. If not, then Johnson definitely screwed up. But if there are random waste bunker areas scattered throughout that course then there was little to no way of him knowing if that was one or not.

    Who do you believe?

Dye says it was a waste area

Dye says it was a bunker

  8. this is the basis upon which the "suspect" was arrested?

Sedita told The News that police arrested Johnson based on information from witnesses who said a man named Keith who was recently released on parole may have been involved in the shootings. After checking parole records, they came up with Keith Johnson.

    What a bunch of hacks....

Nope. Witnesses and identification from a photo array.
