  1. You mean come to grips with like Redkins fans did about the Coles trade not happening? While I'm not counting on it happening I still think its going to happen. If Shelton is well on his way to Chicago why isn't he a Bear?
  2. The first thing I do is sign is sign LG Rick Demulling. The next thing I do is sign RFA C/G Melvin Fowler to an offer shhet which costs us a 3rd round pick. I then release C Trey Teague (-1.02M), S Pierson Priouleau (-1.23M) and WR Drew Haddad (-225K) and restructure RT Mike Williams. Then I trade RB Travis Henry and a conditional 2006 pick (As high as a 2nd and as low as a 7th) tied to both Henry's performance and whether he signs a contract as well as Shelton's playing time. I then sign Freddie Jones, Jermaine Wiggins or Marcus Pollard to play TE. I then use our 2nd round pick to draft a CB or TE and the rest of the draft I pick up a back up RB (4th round - Cedric Houston of Tenn?) defensive and offensive line depth and grab a K, of course Nugent will be gone but there are some guys out there that are an instant upgrade over Lindell. Why not??
  3. I'm going to go out on a limb and say either through free agency or the draft....
  4. I couldn't agree more. My guess is once Chicago and Tampa balk at the Cards demands we''l sweeten our deal. Arizona WANTS Travis. What is holding up the deal is that Travis won't sign a contract extension so it's not like we don't have a player that they desire. I think this deal gets done.
  5. Do you know how many times I heard that the Moss for Coles swap was dead? At least once a day and now Moss is a Redskin. Keep in mind Arizona's asking price from the two teams trying to acquire him (Chicago and Tampa Bay), a second round pick. No way they give up a 2nd rounder considering how many holes each team has. I really think we'll get this done, maybe not this week or this month but I think it'll get done.
  6. I don't know why but I just have this feeling (Not just hope) that TD is going to get this done considering how important the o-line is to JP's development. This allows us to shore up the CB, TE and back-up RB position via the draft which I think is the best way to go. Does anyone else see this happening?
  7. That's my thought as well since we don't have much more room under the cap.
  8. We were only 5 million and not 8 million under the cap so we don't have a lot of money to spend. We just signed the best back up QB on the market and a young, versatile replacement for OT Marcus Price. We still need to solve the LT spot but something tells me that Mike is moving to the LT and Gandy could be given the RT spot or we're going to draft one (Which is much better than trying to draft a LT) if the Shelton/Henry trade is indeed dead. My prediction? Our offensive line will be this on opening day : LT LJ Shelton LG Mike Gandy C Trey Teague RG Chris Villarrial RT Mike Williams
  9. The primary reasons I believe are : 1. A very deep draft at the RB position -- This draft may have a couple of starting RBs taken in the 4th round if you can believe that. 2. His contract -- With only one year left he's a risk to have a big season and then simply walk away. You can say what you want about Henry but if we wouldn't have drafted McGahee we'd be trying to lock him up to a long term deal. He's a solid RB.
  10. I would rather sign RFA G/C Melvin Fowler for a 3rd round pick and then trade Henry for a 4th or hopefully a 3rd or even better we could complete the Shelton/Henry trade but Faine for Henry would be fine by me. There is no way we switch Teague to LT because he wasn't even an adequate LT with Denver. If we bring a C onboard I'd cut him for the 1.02 cap savings it gives us.
  11. There are holes, yes. But to me it was important to fill the back-up QB and OL holes thru FA and not through the draft. We can address TE and back up RB via the draft without too much worry.
  12. I'd be willing to give up a 3rd for Shelton even if we only get a 4th for Henry.
  13. Wasn't the Moss for coles swap also 100% officially dead as well? Just saw an update on ESPNEWS that a dela was "imminent". Until Shelton or Henry is traded the deal sin't 100% dead.
  14. Looks like Gandy is at the very least going to replace an aged Marcus Price who from what I've read, wasn't pursued because of a chronic knee condition. I don't know enough about this guy to say he's going to be more than that but if I was a betting man I'd say he's going to be starting for us at G. Then we go out and grab the best back-up QB out there for a very good price which makes all of us feel better about the QB position. The coaching staff appears to be convinced that Edwards can replace Williams at DT so that "hole" isn't really a hole after all. Now if TD still pulls of the Henry/Shelton trade the sky maybe isn't falling??
  15. CP pointed out that due to an escalator for Wire we only have a bit over 5 million to spend. That's why I think Priouleau is a goner and MW will be restructured.
  16. He's 32 and is getting slower. He's a one year fix at best so if he's cheap I'm all for it. It certianly seems like we're going to address LG via the draft at this point with only Garza and DeMulling the only G's out there with upside.
  17. He'll play 13 games next year, max. It also looks like the Bills are convinced Edwards is ready which is quite a feat since he was like a different player last year compared to his other unimpressive seasons before that.
  18. I've yet to read something this good on ESPN.com. Awesome post.
  19. If he comes very cheap and doesn't hold back our ability to upgrade the o-line then yes of course. If its a Troy V incent-type contract then hell no.
  20. There will be plenty of RBs available in the 4th round such as Cedric Houston of Tennessee.
  21. Again, what radio? How about a station? Espn radio?
  22. No. Just a "heard it on the radio". What station? I think this could be a rumor being put out by a local station.
  23. For most DTs its almost a question of strength. After a full year in an NFL s & c program they really develop.
  24. But with all our key FA next year his contract would've sunk us. TD is not Butler and we're not building a one year shot, we're building a consistent playoff team that can go deep into the playoffs with a shot at the ring.
