I disagree.
I think the Fowler signing adequately addresses the center position - even though he was not the big glamorous signing among FAs (aka Bentley). Bentley would be nice, but $4M/yr (or whatever it was) is too much.
Tutan Reyes is a reasonable OG candidate.
Preston may fit at OG pretty well, got some PT last year, filling in for CV.
Butler may play very well at OT. I'm quite optimistic about Butler for the future.
I think the Bills have addressed the soft middle of the OL pretty well. Of course, big names would be nice, but not affordable or necessary IMO.
No.
Based on the article about pre-draft visits and so forth (a great article), I would say bringing Huff in was either a diversion - or they wanted to meet him because they did not get an adequate chance at the combine.
Well, no, Whitner was likely to go at #13 to Ravens if Bills did not take him. He would not have been a 2nd rounder as you say.
None the less, I was shocked (and not in a good way).
There was some talk (on TSW) about getting both Minn 2nd rounders out of such a trade down (perhaps Bills add a 4th or whatever).
Now, maybe we can consider it, but not for just one 2nd and a fairly useless late pick.
Cieslak article
In the article on TE Brad Cieslak, he mentions that his NIU teammate Rob Lee:
I know speed isn't everything, but holy crap, that would great if Lee somehow emerged at safety for the Bills. Just a long shot, even if the 4.3 thing is true.
Let us not forget Harry Colon (Detroit Lions?).
There was a game where KC's Reggie Tongue "put a lick on" Harry Colon... honestly.
I seem to recall Paul Maguire calling that one.
Bunkley does not represent good value at #8, IMO.
I would rather take someone like Huff, Davis, Ngata if we can not trade down out of the 8 spot.
So, yes, I would be disappointed with Bunkley at #8, but would be OK with him at #12 or so...
Holy cow. Wasn't 1984 the year the Bills had 2 picks each in rounds 1, 2, 3, and 4?
Was it WR Chris Burkett and OL Mark Traynowicz in the 2nd?
Then, Frank Reich in the 3rd, Andre Reed in the 4th?
Wow.
If you want to feel a bit better, just imagine what it is like to be an St Louis/AZ Cardinals fan. Or even Detroit. Traditionally, you could always count on some bonehead reach from the Cards front orifice!
So, hey Coach Tuesday, try to relax and enjoy it. It is something we (as fans) can't change, so just try to have some fun on draft day.
As the SNL wild 'n crazy guys (the Festrunk brothers) would say:
"Why don't you buy yourself a drink - and ENJOY IT!"
How about having a couple of 7 foot 6 defensive ends?
It's tough to throw the ball past those guys!
Although it would be easier for OL to get leverage on them...
ditto to this.
What about OG Davin Joseph in the 2nd?
A Mangold pick would have to be down in the 20s I think. The signing of Fowler gives us a legit center IMO. Less urgency to get Mangold.
I don't like OT Justice at #8, maybe at 10-15, though.
Haven't you heard? - it's Schedule Day, and we're already 0-2!!!
Ay, caramba.
Do you know what round Stovall is projected to go? It would be great to have a capable WR with size like that.
